Actually, this is a softer, modified version of William Koehler's method. David explains and teaches clearly and expertly! He is a very entertaining trainer.
This method is a layering approach. I used several of these techniques combined with clicker shaping back in the 90s. Today, I use more effective modern equipment and techniques, but I still incorporate several things from this program. To get to the end result, you must use the outline as designed to get to off leash. This takes time, commitment, and consistency!
Today, I can achieve these results faster and easier with properly applied ecollar techniques! If you don't want to use that, I would still use these leash techniques! However, as an experienced professional, I feel the prong collar is a safer, easier, softer, and less adversive tool to achieve the same results! You dont jerk prong collars, you use pressure on, and pressure off, combined with easy wrist flick leash pops corrections.
The prong protects the dogs windpipe, and unlike the choke chain, it distributes pressure around the neck vs. the trachea!
