    Oh Granny Pat. ! I love them all so much. My grandmother and Mother did a lot of quilts - I treasure them all so much ! I even helped quilt as a child - I am 61 now but I have wonderful memories of us quilting together. Love ya❤

    Your linens are treasures. I kept thinking if all the women who painstakingly used their craft to make lively creations for their family to enjoy. Probably never dreaming they would be displayed for thousands to see. It’s very emotional! Thanks for sharing your treasures❤

    I want to tell you how beautiful your linens are. I have many that I have made myself and that I picked up at a antique store. I treasure them. Why? Not just because they’re so beautiful. But because I do it myself and I know that effort, and time that went into making those things. I have things like that all over my house. And I love it. I get up every morning and look around at all the pretty little things I’ve made over the last years of my life. Started when I was three years old or maybe I was four. Not sure, but it was three or four and I have been doing this ever cents, I am now 74 years old. So 70 years I’ve got behind me and I hope when I die I’m able to so and do what I love up until the time they bury me. I think it takes a special person to appreciate this kind of linen and stitching, especially if they don’t do it themselves. I want to thank you so much for sharing your time to share your beautiful treasures. And I like your stories. That’s why I think I like things that are old because I like that time. Period. I love the white people lived in those days. Young people today don’t know what it is. But I do because I had ants and grandparents who were alive then and of course some neighbors as well. Who had their parents over at their house often. Again everything is lovely and thank you for sharing everything all of your treasures.

    You are right about calling them museum pieces. All these things speak of a bygone era when women took the time for the home arts and went beyond basic homekeeping, to create unique and lovingly crafted heirlooms. What you have is a tangible piece of history.

    There is nothing nicer than vintage linens…especially ones that have lots of hand work on them. I have always wanted to learn how to do tatting, so I especially enjoyed seeing the piece you showed us with the tatted edging. I have several sets of pillowcases with crochet women on them in my cedar chest…I haven’t opened my cedar chest in a long time…think I will do that soon. I have been doing counted cross stitch for over 40 years, so I know how much hard work, time and effort you put into the beautiful piece you showed us. Every single piece you showed us is a treasure…!!! My grandmother always had beautiful hand-embroidered scarves with crocheted edging on all her dressers, chest-of-drawers, night stands and tables…some of them are in my cedar chest, too. All of your treasures are from a beautiful and very special time gone by…I am truly so glad to have lived during some of that time…!!!

    Granny Pat, bless your heart. I was so moved almost in tears when you spoke about the piano cross stitch needlepoint
    work you did. If only I knew what happened to the collection of doilies, needlework and hand sewn table covers, my Mother
    (God rest her soul) hand stitched, I would cherish them. Priceless treasures.

    I loved looking at all of your beautiful linens. What a gorgeous collection. I could look at each and every one all day long. The WORK that went into them! My goodness!
    I have some tatting pieces from my Great Grandmother. I still marvel at the intricate work when I take them out to look at them. We're lucky to have such pretty things, aren't we?
    My grandgirl, Clara, who is 10, just decided one day to teach herself how to crochet on TH-cam. Now, she's making winter hats for friends. She's making me a hat for my birthday in Sept. I bought her the wool yarn at Michaels... her favorite store in the world. ☺️

    So many treasures. Things I buy at the antique mall, I use. I have a gorgeous set of pillowcases that are to die for (antique). I made a dresser scarf like the pattern you showed that your mother crocheted as a tablecloth. My sister has drawers of things our great aunt made. Embroidery items with tatted or crocheted edges. Stuck in drawers, not used. Makes me sad.

    We have a lot of things in common. I love old linen and lace. I do have a postage stamp quilt but it is not very old. I still crochet doilies and still carry a hanky and collect a few as well. This video is a delight for me as. I love all of the items you have shown. I’ve done a little cut work and it does have to be neat. My first attempt wasn’t so good. I haven’t been to Grasmere for years and yes it is beautiful. Beatrix Potter and her books are a delight. As I crochet, I so appreciate the fine lace that was done in the past. Thank you Pat, I’ve certainly enjoyed watching. You have some beautiful pieces.

      My dear, I am about half a generation from that era. My oldest sister, 19 years older than I, would have enjoyed those things. I remember the ladies using the pretty linens and one of the things I did only once. A lady, several years older, invited me into her home where she served me strawberries and cream. I recalled seeing that in old movies. I was thrilled with the idea. I once started tea set collections. That was my plan when I retired - have tea parties. That time has since passed. Thanks for asking.

    Your piano cross stitch is absolutely beautiful. Glad to see it’s framed so it can be preserved for your descendants. I want to also say that at least here in Texas, people of my generation (born in the 70s and even those younger) are flocking to estate sales and thrift shops to get these needle arts treasures. The young ones call it “Granny Chic”. Many crewel and needlepoint on eBay are selling for $40 nd up, depending on the theme. Especially the wall art and framed ones. I see that tablecloths and napkins are not as popular with the younger set as the other pieces are. Again, your videos make my day and I look forward to each new one. I’m sharing with like-minded friends so you will gain followers and they discover the joys of collecting, reminiscing and sharing with their elders. Much love!

      Rhonda - I am Granny Pat’s daughter. I cannot imagine where you get the impression that I am not kind to my mother. I have never done one thing unkind to my mother. We travel together, go on vacations, spend the holidays together and I’m there to help her in any way possible, should she need it. I guarantee a portion of her collections that she shows in her videos has been given to her by me and my late husbands. Two to be exact. @@Deadmans75 Jan, first off let me say when a person puts themselves out there on the World Wide Web, they open themselves up to opinions, remarks and many other things. That just comes with the territory. That being said, I have loved watching your mothers videos. And have used the like button on numerous occasions. My comment was to your mother and she replied back to clear up any misconceptions I may have had. And that was it. The fact that you got angry as you said says a lot about your personality in itself. You could have seen your mothers reply to me and left it at that. Or even ask me what made me think that. Instead you sent an angry comment.
      You didn’t ask, but I will tell you anyway what it was that made me wonder along with another person that watches. It was all out of care for your mom, which actually you should be proud that people care about her. But back to the reasons. There was one comment she made when she cut her finger on a Sunday and she mentioned that when she called you, your comment was “ you would have to do this on a Sunday “. And I believe her granddaughter took her. She just made a comment on the latest video that her family doesn’t come to see her because they say she is too cluttered in her home. Once again these were probably innocent humorous comments by your mom, which she said in her reply to me. You have made more out of this then need be. You could have kindly ask me what made me think anything about your mom instead of blowing up and getting angry as you said. I’m afraid with people today, she may get worse comments than mine. That’s the nature of the internet. But if you would have taken a minute to digest what my comment was, it was love for your mother.

    • @Deadmans75
      @Deadmans75 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@rhondacornett7903 the comment I made to my mother about her cutting her finger on a Sunday was a joke as her doctor isn’t in on Sunday. My daughter took care of it because she was 5 minutes away. I live 45 minutes away from my mother and couldn’t get there fast. My daughter assured me when she got there that everything was okay. As for my mother’s comment about her clutter, again that was her sense of humor. Some people get her humor. Some don’t. I hope you have a lovely day. Jan
