  • Venus Flytraps can get cramped in their pots. To overcome this it's a good idea to divide Venus Flytraps so they have more room to grow in their separate pots. This will result in healthier more presentable plants. This is also true for other species of carnivorous plants. Venus Flytraps also benefit from the addition of fresh peat moss to restore acidity levels for the roots. In this video I demonstrate how to divide and re-pot the plants. In this video I demonstrate and explain how to:
Unpot the plants safely while minimizing damage to the plants
Safely separate the rhizomes and roots
Easily keep the rhizomes hydrated during the separation process
Re-pot the Venus Flytraps into fresh peat moss
Keep the freshly potted plants hydrated using water trays
Re-use the old Venus Flytrap leaves
The best time to re-pot Venus Flytraps and why.
Minimize the stress on your plant during the unpotting and re-potting process.
General tips to help give your plant the best start for the growing season ahead.
    Happy growing to you all!

Hello, i had a flytrap so healthy she sprouted a beautiful little single white flower on a long stem growing up and away from the plant. Magnificent! I have a healthy plant growing now but she very big and sprawling outside her pot. Thank you for the info 👍

I have a question. Why would you try to add nutrients to the peat when flytraps hate it?

I like to think of those old leaves as a type of soil conditioner. Whatever is left in those old leaves I want to return to the peat moss...... just like it would in nature.

Hi there......The best time of year to separate and re-pot is towards the end of their dormancy in winter or just as they're awakening in early spring.
