As a long time Tull fan, I certainly was never looking for a new one. Anyone saying Wucan lacks nuance and subtlety is probably judging based upon this one song. Songs like Ebb and Flute , Zwischen Liebe Und Zorn are extremely nuanced. They are the real deal, and Francis is completely captivating as a singer who happens to play the flute from time to time. But this is a flute review, and she plays it almost like an accompaniment to her voice.Great reaction.
Wucan is Wucan. I think there's always an anticipation when someone pulls out a flute in a rock band that they'll get the dirty, breathy riffs of Ian Anderson. Anyway, they're a lot of fun.
Thank you for the very kind words! I Actually I made peace with the fact that classical flutists would probably very much disagree with my style but I am so honoured you gave it an honest listen and tried to understand our approach. Thanks a lot! However: Jethro Tull have never been an influence and we have tried for years to emancipate ourselves from that comparison. The comment section speaks volumes as to why. 😂 I really just want to play my flute in peace. 😉 Please check out Bobbie Dazzle and the Rosalie Cunningham band for other great flutists 😍 you’ve probably heard of blood ceremony already.
Hi Francis! Thanks for watching and commenting. As I say, I absolutely love what you're doing and applaud you for creating your own style. I'm also a flute player who has now chosen to go her own way and so I know how hard it can be. Thanks for the suggestions, I'll definitely check those out, and if you're ever playing in the Uk I'll most certainly be there! Wishing you a most Flutifull weekend!! 😄🎶
@@ClaireHoldich Francis has a You Tube channel worth checking too She does some lovely covers on it too albeit she hasn't updated it for a while.Francis Tobolsky@Psychocoko
They are amazing so many great live performances of them on here Francis has such great stage presence and charisma boy she can sing.Checkout the beautiful Wizard of Concrete Jungle from Rockpalast 2016; or the epic Cosmic Guilt and Aging Ten Years in Two Seconds from the Reap the Storm album
You should check out the latest video from Albion. The singer/guitarist has been Jethro Tull’s lead guitarist for the last 5 years or so. The band’s other guitarist has filled in on bass with Tull but has recently taken over the lead guitar position! So Albion is clearly for fans of Tull.
Thank you for that, Claire. Very interesting - I think we know who her main influence was...it seems they need rather a lot more experience... the guitarist lost his timing on a couple of occasions, and, as you said, there isn't a lot of content there. Another couple of years, and they could be excellent. Note: Just googled them and they've been going since 2011 - they should have been better than that by now...I'm confused...
I'm a massive Jethro Tull fan and was curious to check this out. I pretty much agree with your assessment @nightwishlover. The flute was very Ian Anderson sounding which is perfectly fine. I liked the bass player holding it all down while the guitarist did his thing. Guitarist had a nice sound. But like you said, might've expected more from a band of 13 years?
Thanks, and I agree. I've sencie found they have released a live performance of the same track performed in 2021 which is much tighter - perhaps they were having an off day??
NOT a new Jethro Tull, just another band with a flute player. They lack nuance and subtlety, and will be an opening act until they find those qualities. JT has always been a composition-based entity with musicians who don’t beat you over the head with their instruments. I’d love to see them if they developed those qualities. You were kind in your comments. Damn, I was hoping for another band to follow.
Now get your mind blown and watch anything by Canada's Blood Ceremony :D Not only rock with flute - but bonus organ sounds!
They are on my list to watch so stay tuned! 😄
@@ClaireHoldich Nice.
YES, PLEASE REACT TO SOME MORE (WUCAN)

Yes, I'm aware of Albion - I believe Joe Parish who you talk about has also now taken up the flute - I wonder who helped him with that?! 🤔🤣
Wrong line up. It’s Alexander Karlisch and Philip Knöfel. It’s actually (unfortunately wrong written) in the description
Ah ok, apologies Philip! Thanks for watching and pointing this out 😄🙏
Not in the same league as Tull but she's still a great front for the band.....in more ways than one. And yeah, she has a great voice
THANK YOU FROM BUFFALO, NEW YORK. CLAIRE, TRY DONALD FAGEN, WALK BETWEEN THE RAINDROPS.
You're very welcome and thanks I will do! 😄🙏

Who was my main influence? I’d like to know 😉

Pretty boring if you ask me. Yes she can play the flute but that doesn't make them the new Tull. You've got to have some quality songs
Pretty good very tull like guitar, flute but yes songs weak. Need work, (ask ian anderson to write a few for them 😂)
Stumbled on band few years ago. Dig em. Band rocks and the girl if fantastic and talented. Rat catcher is fun.
