I'm not as good as Jimmy, and I definitely don't play such good Zangiefs at 1500-1600 mr...But what has worked for me is trying to reduce the amount of interactions as much as possible. Since Gief can end the game in basically 3-4 interactions, I try to equalize that: Ryu lands a high damage combo and gets a charge. You play a bit of neutral to mantain your drive bar high, and then do another high damage combo, preferibly finishing with a charged hasho. Since Ryu hits like a truck, one should be able to finish the game in the next 2 interactions as well...The more turns you give to Zangief, the harder this matchup gets.

Yep thats typically how I lose as Gief. Space me out and neutral me until u have enough meter sources to pressure me.
The best and probably the most fairest fights you can ever watch and enjoy from this game are Ryu vs Zangief and Ryu vs Ryu. That Ryu vs Zangief set was awesome. I wished Jimmy and that Gief player played more.

I know this is a Zangief salt vid, but I think Juri really gets away with how strong she is. She won last Capcom Cup and no talks about her like she's one of the best characters in the game.
juri sucks compared to actually good characters. there is quite literally no reason to play juri over top tiers.

I did the lvl 2 after the lvl 3 animation. You can basicly do anything from a drive rush except block or parry! So after someone tries to do a super you can always counter with your own super!

Well it's that damn DR. It extends your hit and hurt boxes. It's cool when they get the hit but they get mad when gief players read

I had a gief master that would churn on his wake up and he did it everytime, but instead of teaching him I allowed it to happen because once he plays someone that had enough of his shiet he’s going to be pissed😂I was standing out of grab range and just letting the animation play on whiff like come on dog

I know that Chun Li has a little better poke than Ryu, but doesn't this matchup play just like Chun and Zangief? Why is it such a chore for Ryu?

I would have blacklisted this Gief player after the first round. You don't raw SPD Drive Rushes or Impacts - maybe with Modern Gief, but not with Classic. The guy is using a macro for the SPD at the very least.
I don't know what they did in the last patch but.. I CANNOT GET MY WAKE UP DP ANYMORE!!! LIKE EVER! Is anyone else having this problem?

He just makes you play against him differently than other characters. It's not that complicated.
Ryu actually has advantage over Gief.
Im a huge gief fan. He’s a little too strong atm. What he’s good at cant be too strong because he does so much damage. You can only guess right so long before the game feel like a slot machine.
It's because you are a bad player. Ryu and ken deserve more nerfs than Zangief. You are a lame player. Gets better because Zangief was already nerf many times.

nahhhhh you gotta think about PC players... you can do some shit on there that you cant do on a console.. like.... modify files, scripts, 1 button combos/moves.. just saying...
