- In this video, join us on an exhilarating expedition as we venture to Glen Dessary to hike two formidable peaks in the Rough Bounds of Knoydart: Càrn Mòr and Bidein a' Chabair. To secure an early start and maximize our adventure, we find shelter at the picturesque Glenpean Bothy.
Our big hike spans a challenging 31.5 kilometres, encompassing a staggering ascent of nearly 1900 metres, all while treating you to breathtaking panoramic vistas of Knoydart and its surroundings. However, the adventure's true test lies in its duration, with our ambitious hike requiring an exact 12 hours to complete, making for a more demanding day than we had anticipated.

Enjoyed that Robin! Looked rough as! A long old day! Better sticking together on these remote walks me thinks 😮😮! Paul
Cheers Paul and totally agree. Maybe I was faffing about filming too much. 😂
Amazing views from the tops but the wall itself looked BRUTAL especially the planation! Great vid 😊
Cheers Kerry. That last stint through the plantation was brutal. Glad I done both peaks, saves me going back. 😂
Excellent Video! You've collected some beautiful impressions here 👍😊. we wish you a nice day! Best wishes Up'n'Down-Traveling
Thank you and all the best. 😎 👍🏼
Tough day Robin, but those views, WoW!👍👍
Tough but rewarding. Chuffed to her both peaks under my belt. 😁
Robin that was a loooong day in a really remote location. The 2nd mountain was a belter what a view! You certainly worked hard climbing back out the glen after the 1st summit. 🏅 ATB Derek
Cheers Derek. Aye I was a bit concerned about finding safe lines up an down but it worked out well just losing some height down the ridge first. 😁 👍🏼
That was a tuff looking day and for your mate to just push on ahead was bad drills if out with someone stick together atvb Jimmy 😎😎👍👍
Cheers Jimmy, I know sometimes I drop behind to do a bit of filming so there's no hard feelings, these things happen. I was glad to find him on the way out. 😁
Good stuff Robin , they looked a tough day mate . cheers Stevie
Good practice for when we do Sgurr na Ciche and Ben Aden. 😜
Superb Robin 😁👏🏻..That terrain looked tough going..Those mountains looked amazing though hard to navigate through..I hate going through those forests as well..Horrible…Excellent video mate ..I really enjoyed it 😁
Cheers
Murchie
Cheers Murcho. I was buzzing to get those Corbetts ticked off. Not even the forestry spoiled it. 😁
Great watch mate. Felt knackered just watching that., 😁 Looked a toughie like. Forestry bog looked brutal. Ah widnae leave ye eh. 😉 Just maybe send ye daft whattsaps if ah got a signal. 🤭
Cheers pal. Aye brut of a route like. I'd imagine some abuse if that was me. 😂
Knoydart is spectacular, superb views. What a pain negotiating through that forest after the big day you had. Thanks for sharing Robin👍🏻
Cheers Phil. Aye the forest was a bit of a ballache to finish the day. 😤
Another masterfully crafted upload bud, simply gorgeous hike! Your content is unique and always appreciated! 🥾
Thank you as always. 😎 👍🏼
Superb Video Marra great intro and editing them Hills look awesome...
Great beard brother keep it!
Cheers Andy. The beard went, had an interview. 😢
@@WalkWithWallace hope the interview went well Rob...now you can grow it back 😊👍🏻
@@RockStar67 🤞🏻🙏🏻
That was some slog that mate. Cracking views though.
Major dingy on the way back not ideal though! Cheers
Cheers Leon. It was definitely worth combining these two. It was a slog down off that first Corbett. 😤
I'm not gonna lie Robiniho, while the views and situation looked immense, the slog looks completely non-superbos. You are a better man than me. Have a well deserved thumbs up. ATB pal. Great video.
Cheers Del, it was really enjoyable apart that last drop off the ridge into the forestry. That was brutal. 😤
Great video Robin, I remember climbing these 2 from A'Chuil 26 years ago and mind it being a pigging long day on tough terrain... Nice one 👍
Cracking pair or hills eh. 😁 A'Chuil probably the more obvious bothy for the route so you can take a bike if you want.
Hats off for that slog mate, looked tough going but well rewarded with those superb views. Really enjoyed this and you’ve deffo put me in the mood for heading back. Cheers mate, Dave 👍
Cheers Dave. It was worth it. Was buzzing afterwards. Hope to see you back soon too. 😁 👍🏼
That was brilliant Robin some very rough going and well done to you both, now see if I can spot your route on the map.
ATB
Cheers Dave. 😎
Once you locate Glenpean Bothy, the route should be easy to follow on the map 🗺 😁
With great effort comes great reward. I guess that phrase was made for your second summit 👌. Top effort!
Cheers James. It was definitely worth the effort. Was chuffed for a few days after. 😁 👍🏼
Really good video Robin! Such a tough shift 💪👍. Kind of a bummer after you ‘lost’ your partner - for me personally enough reason not doing any more trips with him.
Cheers Stripey, yeah that was a bummer but no hard feelings with Mushy. Hopefully a lesson learned.
Great video as ever Robin. Impressed at you doing both Corbetts. I had great day on Bidein a Chabair at end of May. Views are better than from many a Munro. Keep the videos coming ATB
I'd agree 💯 Paul, the views were incredible. Pity we didn't have the time to visit the subsidiary top.
Nice one Robin. Looked a proper slog that. Getting split up not great either. I recognised that plantation and the wee bridge from our Knoydart trip. ATB bud 👍
Cheers Dave, aye it was a slog at times but worth it. I remember your trip, it's a pretty special area. 👌🏼
Great vid Robin, i love that part of the country, fab hills. That decent down through the forest looked pretty grim though 😬
Cheers Lee, aye don't make the same mistake going through the woods. 😂
Well done Robin, IMO the RB is the toughest area to hike in the UK. ATB.
Cheers mucker, I'd probably agree discounting Skye perhaps? 🤔
@@WalkWithWallace Well aye you're probably right Robin, although Mibees aye mibees naw, it's definitely close . ATB
Christ! Glad I never bothered doing these as a two. Looks the pits. Bold effort.
Ha, on the flip side one less drive down the Loch Arkaig road. 😜
Well done Robin, did the ailiens grab Mushy!?,also a shame about the bog and the wet feet
Haha, something like that. 👾 😂
Thank you Robin.
Excellent stuff, loved it…
Visited the area, a few years back now. Three day thru hike from Glenfinnan to Inverie, took way to much gear, killed me, hottest September in years. Still won’t forget the mud, and the sting in the tail just as your approaching Sourlies Bothy 🙈😂
Loved the film mate, ATB 👍
Classic route that, quite fancied doing that myself. Is that the big steep drop before you hit sea level?
Nice one Robin, I'll be passing through there in November, when I do the CWT for the second time 👍
Quite possibly my favourite section when you head around to the two lonely lochs before the long drop to Sourlies.
Tough one. This seemed familiar. Have you posted it before or am I loosing it😏
Haha, this is 💯 new content. 😁
I♥it
😎 👍🏼
Brilliant Robin good views especially of Eigg which just come back from camped near the top of An Sgurr the rock pinnacle. A cracking route my early mountain books referred to your second mountain as Sgurr na h-Aide think it was changed some years later to Biden a Chabair when it was re surveyed as this top is higher both are on the map fantastic area cracking Corbetts as good as many a Munro thanks for sharing could lose my mother in law in that forest perhaps that’s a plan thanks for the inspiration Andy
Cheers mate. 😎 Eigg is amazing, my partner and stayed there for my birthday a few years ago. What a place to camp by the way.
Both Mushy and I really wanted to visit the other top, alas knew we had a long walk back. 😔
15 minutes each way to Sgurr na-h-Aide from the summit. I’d heard about this peak many years ago and didn’t want to miss it. I wasn’t mad enough to do both Corbetts in one day though - great effort! (Scotland’s Mountains did your route in reverse once and regretted it)
@@mikebelk5455 yeah I watched Murray's effort a while back. It didn't put me off. 😁
Tough going mate but well done.
Looked a cpl of steep 1s bud?
Aye straight out the bothy, boom the steepness awaits. 😁
Hi there Robin. Brilliant video mate, blimey they don’t call it the ‘rough bounds’ for no reason do they. What a stunning landscape Knoydart is. Nice to see someone also having a bit of a big fest. I had my own last Friday in the Lake District. Haha
Thanks for sharing your adventure as always,
All the best
Dave
Cheers Dave. 😎 Where was your big yomp about? Can't beat the big days, not many left for this year as the nights are fair drawing in.
@@WalkWithWallace hi mate, it was in the far eastern fells in the lake district. I have my own channel where I upload my routes and photos etc. Give it a watch and a subscribe if you are interested. As I say it's nowt special. haha
@@DAoutdoors I'll have a nosey mate. 😎 👍🏼
@@WalkWithWallace Really appreciate it mate. If you time it right you might be my 100th subscriber! Haha
@@DAoutdoors I was too quick, 98th. 😁
Fantastic dramatic scenery. I remember this area well from the CWT, albeit not in weather like this.
Different camera setup? It has a different rendering to your usual videos
It's a mint section of the CWT that. Possibly my favourite section, apart from the Barrisdale path.
I used two different cameras on this one, the small lens on a GoPro doesn't do the mountains justice at times. 🤔
Some slog of a day by the looks of it & you ended up Johnny nah mates, poor show fah yer mate mushy 😂 magic part of the world that, my brother was the keeper at Camusrory. What’s the disco box on your rucksack strap? Location tracking?
Haha, aye bit of a breakdown in communication there. No hard feelings with Mushy. lol @ disco box. It's the Zoleo Satellite Communicator. Keeps the missus sweet, I ping my location to her every 30 mins. 😁
They don't call it the Rough Bounds for nothing - looks brilliant though. I love rocky hills. Don't like the look of that forest though.
Cracking area isn't it, but aye avoid that woodland like the plague. 😂
Cracking video again Robin, but I'm afraid that was a bad crack from Mushy, not impressed with him in the slightest
Cheers Willie, nae hard feelings with Mushy. I was a bit miffed at the time, but it was long day and probably a breakdown in communication.
Great effort in a stunning location your mate shouldn’t have charged on put you in a difficult position when knackered.
Not easy trying to film it and keep a good pace last part looked like fun 😃👍👍
Cheers mate. 😎
Aye, Kevin is a bit slower so that allows me time to do some filming. Mushy was rapid down that hillside. 😂
