    Glad you were able to visit the Riverwalk in Jacksonville. River City Brewing Company is being replaced by apartments in the next two years which will be sad day for a location that has been there for 20+ years. I can't understand why the city wants to ruin the waterfront that people can enjoy with more apartments. The Chart House on the River Walk also has a very good happy hour. They have Bang Bang Shrimp and Prime Rib Sliders on their menu. Also, there is a Bar/Dog Park(indoors/outdoors) located in Riverside area of Jax called Kanine Social if you make your way back through Jax. They have beers from around florida on tap as well as wine. Safe Travels.

      This is how a beautiful city begins to ruin, accepting this type of investment, which gives a profit to a few pockets, harming all the rest of the taxpayers. Signatures of Jax residents should be collected, to not allow this destruction.

    • @christopherliston2371
      @christopherliston2371 3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Renee, you are correct......bunch of "Groms" in Jax Bch......at Mickler's it's easy to find shark teeth by just walking slowly alone the recent high water line, look for little black triangles you will find them at Mickler's when you bend over to pick them up you'll see that it's a shark tooth....if you're lucky and patient.

    • @NewstateNomads
      @NewstateNomads  3 ปีที่แล้ว

    • @markjung2766
      @markjung2766 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      A "grom" is a unit of measure. About 29 "groms" is equal to one ounce. Angie's has another location near the Mexican border called "Kilo-Groms". Check it out!

    • @keystonebrotherb
      @keystonebrotherb 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Grom is a surf/skate culture word or a small Honda motorbike. Fernandina Beach has a great masonry fort and lots of sharks teeth. I have thousands. You search as the wave goes out. Fernandina has dredging for the submarine base so there’s always fresh sand on the beach from the renourishment projects. It’s the coolest beach in Florida. Fort Clinch is spectacular. I could comment on so many gorgeous bits: I'll limit myself to the bridge episode @9:19. Happens here in the Netherlands a lot. Some bridges won't open during peak hour traffic but be prepared, you'll experience this regularly if traveling here. In fact we look down a river and can see the bridge right in front of us. A moment of entertainment for us, but irritation for travelers. Love my Monday mornings traveling with you guys. See you next week. 👍 🎥 🌷 🙋‍♀️

    A real nice pet friendly beach access and huge clean campground under oaks and pines, large sites, lots of Floridian shrubbery for site privacy, full hkups, mini campground store with ice cream counter, beachside restrooms and shower/rinse off stations, bike paths, playgrounds, etc that you should consider checking out - Kathryn Abbey Hanna Park Campground. Reasonable camp fees, tent and rv sites with fire pit and picnic table, covered laundry facilities, bathhouses with showers, etc. It’s over near the Naval Base but on private land. Can watch the huge cargo and cruise ships enter from the ocean into the St John’s River. A favorite camping area of mine. 🚌 🐬🏕 🦐

    Originally being from Texas I was a little sad that they started making Bucees outside of TX in 2016 but was still fine because there was still a distance from me to the Bucees stores, you see, it was the sign that I was almost home. Now that they have one here in Jacksonville around the corner makes me even more sad ☹️ but I will refuse to go to one because it will no longer bring meaning to my 22 hour drive back home to Texas if I decide to start going here 😭

    Take A1A over toward the ferry along the
    St John’s River. You’ll find a nice pull off area on the bend in the road that used to be a county park. I’ve slept in my rv there many a time, nestled back between the palm trees, along with watching the huge ships passing by entering the port. A great place to find
    🦈 teeth. I’ve quite a few in amongst my small shell 🐚 collection. Folks swim and fish there as well. You will also find several riverside fresh seafood small neighborhood style restaurants there in the Mayport area just before the ferry dock. 🐟🦀🐡🦐

    So glad you were able to come to Jax and enjoy our incredible city! If you return, some must-sees:
    Sweet Pete's: a giant candy mansion. Take the five dollar tour and learn all about the mansions history, Sweet Pete's, candy, and get a custom made, personalized chocolate bar!
    Riverside Arts Market: Incredible food and arts market under the I95 bridge on Saturdays only. Also connects to the Riverwalk on the north bank. Walk the trail on that side all the way to the park. There's a really cool bridge where people have put hundreds of commemorative and memorial locks to signify relationships.
    Treaty Oak: MASSIVE oak tree hundreds of years old with a park surrounding. Short stop but worth it. Absolutely beautiful.
    Ed Austin Dog park: massive dog park great for the pooches.
    Sliders: in Fernandina Beach. Best seafood. The scallops with smoked gouda grits are *chefs kiss* Right on the beach. Just up the road a bit is Peters Point beach. One of my fave beaches.
    Boneyard Beach: a natural driftwood beach where you can take amazing photos. Massive driftwood trees with exposed root structure. No swimming for safety reasons but it really is incredible.
    Kinglsey Plantation: historic plantation detailing history of Florida during Spanish occupation and transition to American occupation. Discusses slavery and a how slaves were treated, and how the Kinsley family, with one wife being a freed slave fared under each system, particularly the issues they faced once Florida transferred to America from Spain.
    Not technically Jax, but a must see is Historic St Augustine, oldest city in the U.S. Sights that I highly recommend:
    St. Augustine lighthouse
    Lightner museum
    Historic St. Augustine citywalk (great food spots. The Spanish Bakery and Cafe in historic district is DELICIOUS)
    Castillo de Dan Marco
    Fort Matanzas (closed due to covid but if it ever opens again, you get a free boatride to the fort and get to explore the structure including going up on the roof!
    I moved here from Missouri two years ago and I never want to leave. Glad you were able to see some of the wonderful sights!
