I collected the comics back in the 80s. But reading them now in my Omnibus collection, The Judas Contract is one of the best stories. And back in the days, I hated the origin story of Wonder Girl (issue 22, I think) because there was not costumes nor villains. But reading the story now, it is a very beautiful detective story and a friend doing a favor for another friend using the special skills he has.
One of my favorites was issue #18...the first crossover with the Russian superhero Starfire. Growing up in this era you were aware of the Cold War and the political climate between the U.S.S.R and the U.S.A. The whole story was exasperated by Kid Flash's political views. I felt the way Wally looked in the last panel when Starfire made the reveal and walked away...🤯 Worth a re-read!
It's funny. I'm an artist/graphic designer and wasn't really into Kirby as a kid. I grew to love his work and that Kirby 3D comic sealed the deal. He was doing things that were unheard of in the comics industry.
I was a New Teen Titains fan Like way back in the eighties. ,When the Titans were cool and awesome ,And they so cool that their was a spinoff with this group called the Outsiders.,Yeah I remember. that at the time too ,But Marv Wolfman was the dude I liked reading in comics back in the day ,Along side his buddy and pal George Perez who all helped on Crisis ,And they both made DC along side few others ,But yeah the New Teen Titans was a great read thanks Wolfman & Perez .
The Wolfman/Perez era was definitely the best. It brought the best of the sidekicks and added some fresh new characters. The stories were well written and edgy at times. Stories like the "Runaways" and the crossover with the Russian Starfire showed the "good fight" might have bittersweet results. Then they gave a Terra...🤯
My favorite line up will always be the 2003 Geoff Johns line, a close second is the original line up from the '60s and a third is Wolfman and Perez's line up.
@Gabriel Fraga In fact, I know several people from different countries of latino america (Argentina & Mexico), who used to go to Brazil in the 80s, to buy a lot of comics that they couldn´t find in their countries (like Superman, or Marvel´s Conan, and british characters like Judge Dredd...) But maybe this guy was born at a very rural area (like me), and there weren´t any comicbook shops around.
SyFy devoted a entire playlist geared to Black artists and writers and I Am still waiting for SyFy Wire to a segment on Hispanics and Latinos who made huge contributions to comic books !
Rudy, they have a few videos where they showcase Hispanic artists and writers. Browse through the selection. George Perez is one of the most influential artists and writers of Puerto Rican descent.
@@michaelavila6533 Actually, no, this way of pronouncing its not correct either, but its way closer to how it shoud be than how most english speakers say it. The last Z should be pronounced like a "th" (like in "thirty", or "thirst..." It should be Pere"th" xDxD).
Gabriel P that’s the Castilian way. I don’t think George is from Spain. Also George himself said that Avila was pronouncing it correctly in another interview.
@@yaoblack3579 There is only one correct way to pronounce Perez, like there´s only one correct way to pronounce Peter or Thomas: The Spanish/Castilian way = The correct way.
George Perez is definitely missed.🙏🏽
The Wolfman/Perez Titans will forever be my favorite incarnation of the team.

George Perez can draw grass growing or paint drying and it would still be awesome.
He would draw every dew drop on each blade of grass!

2:53 Correction: The Avengers was Marvel's version of the Justice League.
I always gave Terra the side eye when I was in High school!
For me it's always the original five sidekicks everytime someone mentions teen titans I always think of at least the original 5 sidekicks.
We have A LOT of comic book shops in Brazil

“The story is more important than either of its creators.”
Weird that Wolfman would say that he didnt see the X-Men as a family and they just came together to fight the villain.
I grew up reading the old 70’s/80’s comics and I kinda hate that Lilith doesn’t get any attention :/
I started reading at issue 16. Starfire was on the cover but not in the issue.
Can’t wait for a movie
Awesome
