These episodes make my Friday! The insight George talks about gaining from getting into trouble and being class with people he might have once labeled as “losers” is profound. I’ve taken teens to court appointments in previous jobs, and experiences like that are a wake-up call. We’re all human, we all make mistakes, and the system is sadly not equal. Seems like he’s making a positive impact using some tough life lessons. Learning more about George makes me even more excited to watch We Own This City. Great stuff!
Amazing where life takes us and the stories we end up with. It fascinates me when people find ultimate success in something they never thought they would be doing.
George Pelecanos and David Simon are amazing. The Deuce is probably the best show Ive ever got into. The way they collaborate on their shows and capture how gritty and dirty the streets are in Baltimore and the infamous 42nd st NY in 70s-80s. Dont stop. We own this City is another classic. Brilliant
I work in the criminal justice system... The Wire is true to life. This interview is exceptional. Can't wait to start watching tomorrow, We Own This City.
Love these interviews. Jon is such a down to earth, super intelligent man and has that voice which makes it all the worth while watching and listening. Great guest and killer topics! ✌🧡👍
This dude is the real thing. He was raised wonderfully and it shows. He is proof that if you teach your children everyone is equal we are all humans then that’s how they go out into the world, not a racist POS. This is a beautiful man.
Hey Jon, all the way from India - Massive fan of George and David, and you blew this character up with a brilliant, very human performance. Thank you so much for this interview, truly inspiring
Born and raised in Baltimore City in 1970, I’ve lived all but maybe 6 years in the Baltimore area. Knew Tommy (Sgt Allers) as a personal friend, as well as Danny (Hersel), who believe it or not was a quiet and timid person in high school. Even before the GTTF, BPD was never a “by the book” police department. I mean in the early 2000’s I used to “party” with the Chief of Homicide and Chief of Narcotics in a bar in the county that was owned by a retired BCPD higher up, until I know after 6am in the morning, lol. After the bar closed a select few would stay, and the party started when you heard “cell phones in the basket”. But here’s the thing, in a City that has an unconventional crime rate, you need a unconventional BCPD to fight it! Citizens of Baltimore City knew what was happening in the GTTF, but also knew what would be happening without the GTTF. As of now everyone else is seeing the results. It’s not a coincidence that Baltimore has been in the top 3 most dangerous cities to live in, as well as the 2nd deadliest city in America right now. Yes the GTTF wasn’t a conventional task force and crossed well over the lines, but they kept the violence in check. What they did was wrong, but they saved countless of lives. The GTTF was successfully taken off the streets by Federal Agents, which I’m sure they’re proud of, but I wonder if they ever think about all the lives that have also been taken due to them taking the GTTF off the streets. I wonder if they’re proud of that too! Sometimes a necessary evil is needed to fight evil!!
Been a very long time since I've been this excited for a show/miniseries...which have long replaced films as the venue for great stories. Having read the book, Jon is fantastic casting
I like this podcast I enjoy listening to the some of the subjects you cover while I'm driving or reading and Doing my classes yo you were a great punisher too 👍
Is there anyway to contact Jon for an interview? I help run a channel about people who’ve turned their lives around. And I know Jon has come a long way. I run it with an ex con an ex NF member. Would be great for Jon to share his story with our many followers of people who’ve turned their lives around also the youth we have helped as well as people still out there with no hope. Anyways keep it up Jon! You’re doing great things!
Is there another actor you'd love to hang out with and just have a drink and shoot the shit? And thoughtful and down to Earth? No. Dude brings it hard with every role, even minor roles like in Sicario.
Been a huge fan of Georges work for a good few years now. I bought all his books after stumbling on one by chance. Best ive ever read i actually let it put me off writing for a little while as hes so good. But now im ready more life experiences. Great guest my favourite writer and a character from one of my favourite shows. Played so well i didnt like him (Shane). Cant fault it great stuff.
Thanks Mr. Bernthal and thanks Mr. Pelecanos for being real on the mic. Keep up the good work.
I am from Spain, and of Cuban parents. that is, my mother tongue is Spanish. and thanks to the books of George pelecanos I was able to learn English
Great interview, one of the greatest writers out there. Haven't seen too many interviews with George, that was fantastic.

Amazing Jon

Jon I think a great episode would be a BPD officer and David Simon and see where they agree and disagree on how to help lower the crime in Baltimore.
One of the best episodes yet.

When he said he dreams of playing ball and its the only way he can still play? I've had those dreams for so long...anyone else?
40201
It never goes away. It's football for me. Some days I say "how the hell did I ever play this violent game??" Lol....but I constantly miss it.
Is that Jon's real voice? Wow his Punisher voice is completely badass and different.
I never knew if I didn't listen to this.
The Deuce is one of the best shows ever
These are always so good
Did the Punisher make a podcast? Aww hell yea!
Another awesome interview Jon. Not sure who I feel more jealous for, him or you. Good shit.

Honestly never seen the wire. Always have planned to check it out, just haven't found time. Good listen Jonny.
Love this
John, do you edit the video yourself and upload it to TH-cam or do you have an assistant? I wonder how you manage to do everything:)
I got most of pelecanos books. Dc baby.
Is there another actor you'd love to hang out with and just have a drink and shoot the shit? And thoughtful and down to Earth? No. Dude brings it hard with every role, even minor roles like in Sicario.
How do you manage everything? do podcasts, act in films?
🙂
🔥
Really
I completely disagree that people dismissed Len Bias as a drug addict. It was what a shame, what a waste.
George.. Put me in your Western book... Pleeeeeease lol
Not sure about the neuroscience bit there George. Great stuff overall though.
