Took me so long to find the right video explained by someone who actually knows how to do it. Thankyou. Every other youtube video on this topic is completely useless, overly complicated and akin to having sex in a hammock, standing up.
oh my *FRICKIN GOSH, THANK YOU!* I wanted this effect but I had like a whole sentence to type in, and EVERY TUTORIAL was like putting a key frame for every letter, and I was so worried that was what I was going to have to do. Not only does this work better but it gives the effect the exact feel I wanted, you're a time saver, thank you!
I've used Vegas for many years and didn't know you could do this within the native software - so a big 'Thanks' mate. Normally I do this within Vegas using the New Blue text plug-in which I find both annoying and massively unreliable - it has a habit of crashing what is otherwise a very reliable program. Bless you and TH-cam!
Thank you so much for this. You really saved me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I kept thinking I was the only one who wanted text to populate from left to right and not push out from the center!
Oh, my God. There's a way to automate this? Awesome. I'm pissed and at the same time glad to know this. Thanks a lot, timetokickit. Really helpful. I've restrained myself from throwing my lappy out the window... for now.
Great video and saved me loads of time for my ICO review chapter title dividers. Thanks!

Appreciated mate! I love the idea that.. you had a difficult time with it and it took u 30 min which made you want to share and simply it, I wanna hug u for that lol Anyway thanks a lot :)
OMG I love Sony VEGAS but I sometimes run into little things like this. A simple type writer effect for text (why isn't that a default??). Thank you for making this video. I was messing around with key frames for the longest time and this way is so much easier!!
Thank you very much. You dragged on quite a bit, but you're pretty easy to listen to and I'll take this ANY day over that other ultimate cringe-lord video that did it with keyframes
Thank you! Text messaging is featured in my next film and this method is so much better than the key framing method. Only problem I'm having is keeping the text on long enough to read. The effect finishes and FLASH, the text is gone. I tried splitting the effect window to where the text displays fully, but this separate window then just repeated the effect over again.
I know this is 3 weeks since posting your comment, but what you could try is when setting on the timeline the words that show up, dont put it all the way to the end.
Thank you very much for this tutorial. It's been really helpful!! Can you perhaps also do a tutorial how to draw a red "circle" around an object? Most guide show a real circle but I'm looking for custom shapes to draw around an object to highlight it.
This helps a lot. But is there any way I can make it go more smoothly? As in, have the letters fade in with a smooth wiping motion instead of one letter at a time? That's too choppy for my purposes.
so I'm having a problem. I'm trying to stretch out on a 9 sec clip, but had a host of problems (typing too fast, then retyping, or typing back words etc). Please help!
+Геннадий Гайдукевич I can't remember what software I used but I would suggest TechSmith Camtasia or Fraps. Also most mid-high end video cards these days have screen recording capabilities built into the video card software
Bravo! No nonsense tutorial . . . Ya cut through all the BS! Thanks-nine years after the fact!
@@dougkoempel5304 I'm glad you still found it helpful
Thanks a million. Your video is still helping 6 years later. Very clear. Saved me a lot of time.
That's awesome! Thanks for the comment
7 years later and you saved my day, dude. Big thanks!
awesome!
God damnit. Years down the line I find this again. More than half of the top search results are ancient wastes of time and patience. Anyway, thanks.
this took me too long i'm glad someone made a video.. honestly thanks a load
Dude! You saved my life! I was about to do it one letter at the time XD Thank you so much!
Lesson number 1: Without doing anything, check on the internet how to do it.
You literally wreck every Tutorial that requires you to Keyframe every single Character per Character...
You're a one Madlad who saves my time!
Took me so long to find the right video explained by someone who actually knows how to do it. Thankyou. Every other youtube video on this topic is completely useless, overly complicated and akin to having sex in a hammock, standing up.
This is way better than the other tutorial video on how to type-on and typewriter effect I found on youtube.
I have hated buggering around with keyframing each god damn letter for too long. thank you so much.
It took me way too long to find you. Thank you so very much, have been looking for at least 90 minutes straight for this.
oh my *FRICKIN GOSH, THANK YOU!*

Such a simple function but you've saved me nearly days worth of editing if I just fumbled around and animated frame by frame. Thanks a lot bro

This was very useful for me, and easy to follow. Thank you for taking the time to make this tutorial.
Thanks a lot. I just cant believe there's so much work on a so simple task. It takes the same amount of time as in After Effects...
phew! finally someone who really knows what it's all about.
Thank you so much man !!
Thank you so much, it's an easy, understandable tutorial without a 500 db intro
Thank you so much! You obviously saved me so much time. I didn't start before seeing your guide, and now I know it was the right thing to do.

Omg, thanks, este es el único video que me ha logrado explicar realmente cómo hacerlo a la perfección de principio a fin. Muchas gracias.

Thank you very much. You dragged on quite a bit, but you're pretty easy to listen to and I'll take this ANY day over that other ultimate cringe-lord video that did it with keyframes

What happens if you accidentally delete the "right" part of the timeline that makes the line slanted? How do you get it back?
Outstanding video. LIKED. Thanks
Great video. Thank you for the help!!!!
Massive Thanks, my man.
Thanks for this but the word will disappear after all the words typed. How to make it stay?
I WANT TO KNOW TOO
Amazing , you are a genius!! thank you so much!!
live saver man i love you for this
Thank you so much for the help!
Thank you very much for this tutorial. It's been really helpful!!

this helped a lot! . . thanks :)
How do i change the speed that it reads at? It reads it all so fast.
YOU ARE A LIFESAVER
how do you make the video longer?
Just drag it on the timeline or of you want to change the speed of teh animation just drag the automization lines in the ProTyper
Next best thing to being a built-in effect! And maybe even better 'cause now I can easily tweak timing. Tedious key-framing be gone!
Amazing video! Thank you very much :)
this video helped me so much bless
I love you! Thank you my friend!
This helps a lot. But is there any way I can make it go more smoothly? As in, have the letters fade in with a smooth wiping motion instead of one letter at a time? That's too choppy for my purposes.
NICE!!!! You saved me hours!
Thanks SO much for this!!!!
How do I change the font?
+Erin Janus In the same window under Span properties you will be on the Text Tab. The first option called Font Family will let you change the Font
Great tutorial thank you!
Excellent!! Thank you so much!! :)
so I'm having a problem. I'm trying to stretch out on a 9 sec clip, but had a host of problems (typing too fast, then retyping, or typing back words etc). Please help!
Thank you, sir. Well Done!!
pls can i increase the timeline because the video is super fast i want it slower how can i do that?
Please tell me what software and settings did you use to record your screen because the quality is AMAZING :)
+Геннадий Гайдукевич I can't remember what software I used but I would suggest TechSmith Camtasia or Fraps. Also most mid-high end video cards these days have screen recording capabilities built into the video card software
