Whilst all cities have some area dedicated to this oldest business of humankind, usually only 1 city of the country is the most popular. This is that part of Sydney called Kings Cross. Nowadays its quite safe for families to visit Kings Cross, but back in the early 80's it was where you'd find the kingpins of crime. A person strolling through the main street would be dragged into any of the many red light nightlife entertainment venues. Clearly no one does this now. The fountain is beautiful in its uniqueness, but its not all that vast compared to any other fountain. The narrator spoke about the history of the fountain but forgot the real original enticement to this area, thus I had to comment. Kings Cross is also where I got my kids names tattooed on me when we visited there once. Maybe someone could reply if its still a red light district or not? As I haven't been there for decades.
