Not all lenses marketed as "ultra wide" are actually ultra-wide or optically desirable (true rectilinear, sharp focus), especially in cellphones camera arrays.
Vi Gd to be fair though, it’s an amazing camera for a phone. Using third party apps like filmic pro and an anamorphic lens creates some really nice images of you light scenes properly. You just need to work within the limitations of the sensor. I’m looking forward to what the next generations bring to the table now.
7:31 If you look carefully, Gene, you can see 2 BLACK MAGIC CINEMA SHARPIES! 7:34 one next to your left hand (completely black) and one in the middle just under your shirt!
For me it was pretty clear from the overly sharpend image of the iPhone, same as pretty much every smartphone, while the BMPCC looked smooth but still high detail
The fact that you’ve got the option to have something as competent as the iphone 11 in your pocket literally all the time makes it a bit of a game changer. I can’t wait for the other smartphone makers to pull out all the stops to surpass it now, the image quality race is now on! Exciting times. Imagine what we’ll have in 5yrs, or 10yrs 😅
I guessed perfectly every time. The iPhone 11 has 20% of the bokeh that a real camera has, and features like “portrait mode” only apply the blurring in software, so sometimes it screws up badly.
When Jean showed us the footage from the cameras it was really easy to identify which clip was from which camera. The black magic provides a cinematic colour scheme while the iPhone had vibrant colours which were better suited for shorter clips or vlogs.
I got all of them right, but only because I was focusing on sharpness. The iPhone 11 seemed to provide an extra bit of (somewhat artificial looking) sharpness, while the Blackmagic was always a bit softer. Plus the color science felt more "cInEmAtIc"
Yep. Dynamic range was a dead giveaway on every one of them. Shutter speed and artifacts were issues also, but the dynamic range was the most obvious and quickest giveaway.

This is not a professional primary cam but it can be great for a secondary camera. a 5K fully rigged cam it's not that much if you want that sort of videography (powerful camera, flat image profile for color grading etc...) Hey Jet. It was hard to tell the difference. I got three of them right.
