  • While individuals cannot anticipate every possible disaster scenario, they can take steps to prepare themselves and their families for the unexpected. Whether that means preparing for the next hurricane, flood, tornado or other natural disaster, Stratfor advises that every person or family creates a fly-away or go bag that can be used to ensure they are not caught unprepared. Stratfor Chief Security Officer Fred Burton outlines some common items everyone should have in their emergency go-bag.

    How is a Filson a low profile bag? "This guy's rich, I bet there's some good shit in there".

    Nice. I would just add eye protection, ear plugs, lighter, a shemagh (or cloth), cap, sunscreen, wrap that duct tape around an old credit card and swap out the radio, batteries and flash light for a good dynamo charger/radio/flashlight. If you need batteries carry rechargeable batteries (you'll only need 2-4 then) that can recharge via inbuilt usb.
    Oh and you forgot water, but assume you always carry with you.
    In these days hand sanitizer and a face mask.

    In my opinion a strobe function on your flashlight is a must have for self defence and blinding.

    Missing water, purification means, the tourniquet should be out of the plastic and ready to go. Make sure you know how to use these and get first aid/cpr training.
    Good beginner kit. Thanks for sharing.

    "Any brand will work when it comes to that"....the knife or the fire starter? Either way, it does matter. Im not saying that what you have will or wont work, but i can tell you from experience that all ferro rods are not created equal. Everyone should take time to use and test your gear. I once thought that my fire starter didnt matter....then upon testing i realized that i could NOT get a fire going with one particular rod that we had. It seemed easy with another brand, but extremely difficult, nearly impossible, with the other. And this was in near ideal conditions. I have since tested the better one in wet and rainy conditions, and although it was difficult, i did get a fore started.
    Just as you said....during the emergency is not the time to figure this out

    Where's the toothbrush? Personal hygiene is hardly ever mentioned.

    • @makatiron441
      @makatiron441 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I think because in the most gruesome situation hygiene is the one of the least we'll think of.
      But considering that videos like these are for preparation it depends on the viewers on what they will add depending on their own liking.
      But this is just in my opinion.
      Happy prepping!

    I subscribe to this philosophy for my ready bags which is kept in the cars at all times. Shelter, water, food, med kit. The rest is tools and other stuff, but these are secondary. Of course, there's a fixed blade knife, multi-tool, etc. Also an extensive hygeiene kit but that's so I have what I need for over-night stays that happen to me unexpectedly during winter storms, etc. All the bases you mentioned covered, weighs in at 25lbs which is at least 5lbs more than I'd like it to.

    Pay attention children, an adult is talking. Sometimes their modest professionalism makes them difficult to stand out from the usual TH-cam mall ninjas. While the rest of us are making a car emergency kit with a $30 Jansport backpack we reappropriated from our children, Special Agent Burton is using a $595 filson tin cloth rucksack. Think this guy takes this stuff seriously? Pay attention to the stuff he puts in his bag.
