The old earth creationist guy here actually didn’t seem totally insufferable or condescending like the rest of the young earth ones. He’s still wrong, but less awful about it.
I feel like OEC is almost worse than YEC. With YEC it is super easy to disprove and the people that peddle it are idiotic grifters. With OEC, they have to believe in radiometric dating, already throw out parts of the creation story, and believe in sciences like geology. However, they dig their heels in the ground when they get a single sniff about evolution and won't believe science then.
When I was a kid I remember really hating the adults who'd adopt that irritating, condescending cadence when they'd speak to me. Big Wad Dave is giving me flashbacks.
I was about to comment the same thing. Whats worse is when you grew up around these people and that condescending tone changes to anger and vitriol once you start questioning their flimsy beliefs
Same here. I never talk to children like this for the same reason… when I was a kid I knew that I didn’t know a lot of things, but I certainly wasn’t stupid. All kids deserve to be communicated with on an intelligent level, regardless of their age.
Craig and Hovind senior are the worst with that. Hovind never stops using that tone and cadence because he knows he is an idiot with no credentials so he just uses it to bully people. I've heard a few things from Craig where he doesn't do it and it is almost unrecognizable as him. It's this deeper, calmer more scholastic voice and it caught me offguard when I realized who it was. Maybe Craig only does it when he knows he is outgunned and he's desperate to appear smart.

It's tragic because I was a huge fan of dinosaurs as a kid (I mean all boys are about that age) and I was fascinated by fossils and such, but the scummy YECs telling me the fossils were just deceptions by Satan made me hate them. ICR till this day is pedaling 'Scientific Evidence for Creation' paper, which is written 40 years ago and based on information from 70+ years ago. Despite the fact that every single problem it presents has been solved by modern science. Written by Duane Gish. Fun fact: expression Gish Gallop is based on his name.
I just went on this channel, SciManDan commented on a video where this guy provided the "evidence" how people 4000 years ago could become over 900 years old. No comments, so that his chidren indoctrination is not hampered with in any way. That video I stumbled in was an outright anti-science pamphlet, made specifically for kids. Scientists lie, do not trust them, they do not understand REAL science (not like me and all the other apologists that begin with the conclusions and adapt reality). Despicable. Disabling comments is the explicit admission of intolerance, and that you know that you lie and will get flooded with arguments that disprove you. Child abuse.

Robert R. Surgenor shows pictures of a "Cedar" tree, a very famous tree which is actually a Thuja occidentalis, know as an Eastern White Cedar in his presentation. The specific tree he shows is the famous "Little Cedar Spirit Tree" it is sacred to the indigenous people and grows on the northern shore of Lake Superior in Minnesota. @Norm { If the dinosaurs that survived the flood died later because they couldn’t find food, then what did the animals and people on the ark eat after the flood? } You asked a GOOD question. Guess what, the Islamic version of the ARK pushed MIRACLE to the limit. I will just give 1 incident out of many. The original story is written in Arabic, I couldn't find English translation. In the Islamic version, the Ark start getting filled with poop from all the other animals. So Noah was commanded to HIT the ELEPHANT on the ass. After hitting the elephant ass 2 PIGS came out and start eating the poop in the Ark, thereby cleaning. Please don't ask where the PIG's poop go. Let's just call it MIRACLE on top of MIRACLE! Ha! Ha! Ha! Ha! Ha! Ha! Ha! Ha! Ha! Ha! Ha! Ha! Ha! Ha! Ha! Ha! Ha! Ha!
In a nutshell. When Moses and the tribes were wandering the desert, YHWH fed them by raining manna from the heavens. Manna, in ancient Hebrew, is literally translated as "What is it?" So, yeah: miracles, but don't you dare say it's magic, that's heathen apostasy!
Was it just me or did anybody else find it amusing to have two grown men arguing about whether the supernatural creation event occurred either six thousand years ago or several million years ago? What next? A discussion about whether Father Christmas is taller than the Easter Bunny or maybe whether Russel's Teapot orbits the sun in a clockwise or anticlockwise direction.
You know if was I an ancient person and I were to see a sauropod, I would think the neck, would be one of the first things I'd describe. A statement like: "Its head reaches towards the clouds/heavens" I always took Behemoth as more generic term for "Large dangerous animals" rather then a specific animal. - So Elephants, Hippos, Rhinos exc. Kinda like how "Pests" and "Vermin" can be insects, and rodents.
There's been some thought that what was "swaying like a cedar" wasn't "Behemoth's" tail but something else you can find between an elephant's or hippo's legs. If you've ever seen videos of this "part," you'll see how much it can move and sway like it's got a mind of its own. Let's not forget the part of the verse talking about the "sinews of his stone." Couldn't that be implying something like testicles?
Absolutely, and note that some of the translations shown say "thigh" for "stones", which is another Biblical euphemism for the junk. Although we can't be sure because those bits are unlikely to be fossilised, I suspect that dinosaurs wouldn't have external genitalia. (Side note, this suddenly make me look anew at where Isaac makes Jacob swear with his hand "under his thigh". Considering "testicle" is Latin for "little oath", and one swears a testimony or testimonial literally swearing on one's balls, maybe that's what was goin on there?)
42:01 "Dragonslayer" (1981) still has one of the best dragons ever to grace a cinema screen. 11-year-old me was certainly able to believe that dragons were real for the duration of that film. Unlike these theists, though, my suspension of disbelief was temporary rather than lifelong.
my goto against the ark myth is the koala, they only eat eucalyptus leaves and eucalyptus trees only grow in Australia. So apparently Noah imported a year's worth of eucalyptus leaves to the middle east (somehow storing them in the ark without them spoiling) and the two koalas starved while travelling all the way from Australia to the ark before the flood (as no eucalyptus trees grow on route), then again after the flood they again starved all the way back to Australia. But then when they get back to Australia they find all the eucalyptus trees have died (because they were underwater for a year) so the 2 koalas have to starve for a decade or two while enough eucalyptus trees regrow so they can eat again.
OOH! OOH! I know the answer to this one!! Because miracles! Did I get a gold star? LOL! That is the problem. When real problems are brought up, they just claim that God can do anything and he alleviated the problem by performing miracles.
@@gilleruadh yes, well thought out mate, anteaters and ants are another one. I guarantee there are many more animals with specialized diets that we've not even considered.
I have to admit, what makes it a little more satisfying is that the OECs are doing the heavy lifting and saying things, in this context, that I can't disagree with. These are the kind of people that can be reasoned with or, at least, lived with. With few (maybe no) exceptions, my good YEC friends and relatives are also, to varying degrees, knobs and believers of other absurdities. But the OECs (or the ones that don't care) are the ones that are easy to get along with and love.

One other problem the largest wooden ship every built was 340ft long by 60ft in the beam and had iron fittings to strengthen the frame and even then the ship fell apart from the stresses caused by the keel "hogging" as waves pass underneath it (either the ends are in troughs and the middle is in a peak or visa versa giving a bending moment on the keel). It isn't possible to build a ship that big even in the best indian teak let alone what ever shit "gopher" wood is
The making of that ship caused a large amount of trees to be cleared. They could only make one, because it required so much wood. They couldn't use the wood they wanted, because they had to go for a type that they could get enough of. If the Ark had been made, it would have required quite the cover-up to keep archaeologists from discovering the hundreds of square kilometers of trees felled that year. If it was true, we could pinpoint the exact year, if not the exact month, that it happened.
@@TheReaverOfDarkness well that assumes that “gopher wood” isn’t actually bundled reeds. One interpretation of the phrase is that it derives from a transcription of a Sumerian word referring to reeds used to make a reed boat and that the word was maintained in the story because it seemed important and none of the people retelling the story knew what it meant and it became gopher “wood” because wood is what you make boats out of in Palestine.

….written after MOST VERSIONS of the Bible were written… Versions, there are different versions of their god’s book! They don’t bat an eye when they say this and can’t see how versions means the damn book has been altered.
Even if it wasn't altered at all and the translations were perfect, it would still be bollocks. The different new testament books in the bible were written by different authors decades after Jesus's supposed death. Spanning a time frame of over 200 years. And the authors aren't even really known, most of them, if not all were Greeko/Romans and most of them probably never stepped foot into what is now Israel. Most obviously from the fact that there was no place called Nazareth when Jesus was supposedly born. The old testament basically comes from a Greek translation of the Jewish Torah. They even got the number of the beast wrong which is 616 and not 666, so how would you trust the rest of it. Depending on the bible, even the 10 commandments are not the same. They ignore that "God's chosen people", the Jews do recognize Jesus as the messia, nor do they recognize Christianity. What's most hillarious is the fact that Evangelicals do not consider Catholics to be Christians, even though their own bible is literally just an English translation of the Roman Catholic one.

Considering "testicle" is Latin for "little oath", and one swears a testimony or testimonial literally swearing on one's balls, maybe that's what was goin on there?)

my goto against the ark myth is the koala, they only eat eucalyptus leaves and eucalyptus trees only grow in Australia.

@@davidwright7193 Makes sense, and makes the scale of the boat even more ridiculous!

You've got to love creationists.. They believe in certain scientific findings that can be twisted to suit their narrative, but not the ones that contradict their idiotic beliefs?! 🤦♂🙄

"as a Christian I have a totally different view" - that sums it up right there. The beliefs are derived only from the religion, not from any reason or evidence!
How did he jump from "what power in the muscles of his belly" to "has a big belly"?
At least as far as humans are concerned, as I can tell from observing my own body, belly size and belly muscle power are not correlated in the way he assumes, quite the contrary actually :o
It's all about reinterpreting the words to match the story they're trying to tell. Just like "bones like iron" somehow means "big bones".

Iron bars tend to be large. That’s how they make that leap.
The muscles of the belly and his loins really sounds like somebody watched an elephant pushing a tree over to eat the leaves on the top
If the beast had "power in the muscles of his belly", the beast should have had a very lean six pack.

At 56 minutes, that last cave painting looks very much like an angry lynx. Ear tufts become horns, and the spine ruff display becomes the dorsal ridge. My cats do the same thing when startled and/or play fighting. It's cuter when they are eight pounds instead of 30, to be sure.
Genesis Apologetics gave me an ad on this video. The irony.
I let mine run so Aron gets the revenue.
I really wonder what it was that fish did not do, that curried them favor with the celestial Sky Wizard, keeping them from being destroyed by the very same "flood" nonsense.
@Joe Andersen This "Jesus" guy raised Lazarus from his grave, right? That's necromancy, which would have seen him executed for practicing witchcraft. Luckily we still punish people for interfering with human corpses today. If "Jesus" rose from his own death, that makes him a zombie... the undead, or a minion of the underworld. You are following the "teaching" of a condemned creature, that is according to your very own religious nonsense. There's a reason we say "We will think for you" when you idiots say "We will pray for you"; babbling incoherent piffle to imaginary mythological entities will never do you any good.
I find it incredibly sad that Christian apologists essentially just give the same speech they heard when they were a kid for 30 years and then some other guy starts giving that speech after they become irrelevant
Whenever someone says "evolutionists" I start grinning and getting ready to laugh at what they're going to say next!
I love how you simply used the words of other (educated) Christians to expose Dopey Dave’s idiocy.
Supporting the ridiculousness of the flood legend is that Ken Sham, when building his Ark Scam, quickly realised the pure logistical impossibility of filling his little ego project with a fraction of the LIVE animals the Ark apparently contained despite all the advances of modern technology available.
@@maythesciencebewithyou cognitive dissonance. You have to willfully ignore the nonsense. I can’t. I don’t understand how theists can….
Among the amazing content you have been putting out, I think that this video is the most damning because it doesn't require any specific knowledge to see how those Young Earth Creationists lie to their fellow Christians. Once you see with your own eyes how they cherry pick and distort this "behemoth thing", how can you expect them to have any kind of honesty when they address subjects that are harder to understand such as genetics.
This video shows how they carefully script their lies in order to appeal to the gullible and sell them DVD's... It's not about God, people, it's about your money.
Matt Powell did make a really big deal out of it when they found evidence of grass in a dinosaur stomach recently since we thought grass wasn't around that long ago. Viced Rhino had to correct himself on that point. So yeah, dinosaurs did eat grass, not a major correction though.

Creationists are really fighting over a fictional tale. What a world.
Btw, it makes me nervous when a police detective, of all people, is also a creationist.
I never know whether to laugh or just become frustrated when I hear old earth creationists calling out YEC for confirmation bias. I mean, I'm glad they're a little more interested in correctly identifying a described animal than forcing in an interpretation... but, that's the cauldron calling the kettle black in such an obvious way, it's staggering they can refute essential their own logic and not see it
No, we know that most dinosaurs were wiped out by a meteorite strike. We have even found the location of that event and the ash layer that settled everywhere all around the world.
