    Wilder has no excuses. Mark Breeland tried to train him, Floyd offered to train him as well. He could have hired many HOF trainers, and yet he did none of that. Wilder is to blame for not developing boxing skills. Unc it’s disrespectful to mention Tyson in same topic. Iron Mike was more than a one trick pony.

      You could say the same for Roy Jones, who probably at his peak was the greatest athlete in boxing history. But once his athletic ability started to disapate and he always had some bad technique it became more noticeable. Bernard Hopkins was always sound technically and didn't rely on athletic ability so he could still be an effective boxer, in his 40s.

      Never developed a jab, to keep bigger fighters off of him. The days of 220 to 230 pound heavy weights are gone. Now days you need to be at least 250 lbs, I think.

    Wilder's power is a gift and a curse. He started boxing late in life but because of his power he was able to accomplish winning a bronze medal and a world championship. But because of his power he never felt the need to work on boxing fundamentals and techniques. So when his power failed him he had nothing else to rely on. And that was clearly on display tonight!

      He could get away with it when he was young and with full power. But it caught up to him. He'll go down in boxing history like Max Baer. Fine fighter, great power, heavyweight champ, but not an all-time great. Wide punches, poor fundamentals, and an unwillingness to learn them make for less time at the top.

    I’ve been a fan of Deontay Wilder since 2012 and have followed his career closely. The one thing I respect about Wilder is that he will absolutely fight anyone who challenges him. Despite him losing 4 out of his last 5 bouts, he’s a true warrior. If Wilder has 3 more top tier fights and wins them, everybody will be back on the Wilder train talking about his great right hand.       The problem was that the ref wasn't there. And, if you have seen other fights, he seems to do that when he gets buzzed In a fight.
