But once his athletic ability started to disapate and he always had some bad technique it became more noticeable. Bernard Hopkins was always sound technically and didn't rely on athletic ability so he could still be an effective boxer, in his 40s.

My belief is that Wilder didn’t have any power behind his punches due to the fact he came in so much lighter than Zhang-a-lang.

Wilder's power is a gift and a curse. He started boxing late in life but because of his power he was able to accomplish winning a bronze medal and a world championship. But because of his power he never felt the need to work on boxing fundamentals and techniques. So when his power failed him he had nothing else to rely on. And that was clearly on display tonight!

I’ve been a fan of Deontay Wilder since 2012 and have followed his career closely. The one thing I respect about Wilder is that he will absolutely fight anyone who challenges him. Despite him losing 4 out of his last 5 bouts, he’s a true warrior. If Wilder has 3 more top tier fights and wins them, everybody will be back on the Wilder train talking about his great right hand.
