Awesome tips Oralia, you definitely inspire. As a person who never experienced weight issues, until I gained weight in my 30s, I stopped liking Shirley for a moment! Looking your best definitely gives you confidence, it enables you to see what happens when you're feeling stylish and comfortable! Working for years in Finance, I was the quintessential example of navy blue or black dress suits person, since retirement, I am enjoying colors, and I adore them ALL! Yet I still try my best to keep it classy, chic, and snazzy!
Thanks Oralia for another great video! One of my biggest concerns is being a resident in frumpville, lol. My sister and I also dread looking frumpy and try to avoid at all costs. Yes please, a video about layering would be great. Always enjoy your tips, tricks great ideas, keep the content coming 🇨🇦
Yes please on a layer tutorial! I have a puffer jacket that does the job but falls into the frumpy category I’m 😧. Is there a way to unfrump it? If you could also touch on your warm yet stylish winter shoes/ boots I’d appreciate it. 😊
@@Oralia_Martinez Yes! Great ideas as always. It’s always nice to get your take on things. I have some beautiful scarves to tuck in the neck! Thanks for tweaking my brain!
Great tips. It has taken me a minute to realize I do not like the way I feel in blazers so…I invested in more light & medium weight outerwear. I stalked the items I wanted last winter and pounced once they were at the price point I could afford. I purchased a black medium weight quilted vest, a black medium weight quilted jacket, and an olive green medium weight quilted jacket. All different shapes and looks. I live in the California desert so our winters are not harsh so I layer up. I prefer thin layers so maybe a cami, thin sweater, then a jacket. My current style rut is I NEED MORE HANDBAGS & SHOES. I need two more loafers and 2-3 more sandals. I also need at least 3-4 more handbags so I don’t wear out my current ones. My current beauty style rut is I NEED A GOOD HAIRCUT. I always feel super frumpy when my hair doesn’t hold a style because the haircut is grown out 🙄🙃💇🏻♀️. 2024 is around the corner and I need to get it together 😂😂😂❤ Thank you for these reminders Oralia, I love your videos they are helping me feel even better about my style/beauty choices. You rock 🎉🎉
Oraliia you are such an inspiration. I happen to have purchased the same sweater you are wearing in this video and have gotten so many compliments. It looks beautiful on you. I haven't updated my wardrobe in years so I did a closet purge and am now filling it with thoughtful pieces that I love. I now buy things not because they fit but because of how they make me feel. How eye opening! Thank you for your insights and suggestions.
Just found your channel today. I'm so happy for your content. Thank you for actually giving economical tips so real body women can have examples of things that look good on us. Thanks so much!
I love this! I am always on a budget. So, i try to be very intentional with my purchases. However, I always take what you say to heart. I would love a video about outerwear!
Really loving the sweater and makeup combo today - such a lovely look! And great reminders coming up for winter. I like the suggestion of layers rather than relying on a coat - very key especially when moving from the car to the office then back again!
I agree with you I am no longer plus size but I really like love your channel and I commend you for lifting up ladies and making them feel pretty and stylish ❤️
Oralia, I just started the video but I had to come comment immediately on your beautiful makeup look today!!! Those colors are beautiful on you!! ❤ Edited to add: Yes! Don’t judge other women for what they are wearing!!!! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
This video was such a great reminder! I have had hang ups with prob every point. I just made a purchase that was out of my comfort zone and was considering taking it back bc what someone else might say. Now I’m keeping it, bc I love it! lol
Old I don't mind. Aging, no problem. Frump, though, I dread. You made me laugh with the beautiful skirt and the parka. I agree! (I am 63 BTW). Also, 100% agree on not judging and not giving power to others on how you feel.
Oralia, your video is insightful, helpful, and entertaining. Frumpville…he he. Have you tried Ron White shoes and bags? While quite spendy, they last a long time and are not overly trendy. The shoes are made for feet with issues. They are comfy, supportive and chic. Three words you don’t usually hear together. 😊
Would love to see a video on layering. I also would love to see a more in depth talk about winter boots. Being in Canada, Rothys and Vivaia simply aren't an option for winter. I'm struggling to find recommendations for those days when it's -30 out and the days when it's warming up (say -3C/27F) and there is slush ... so you need boots up past your ankles, waterproof, and warm enough to prevent frostbite. Add in special foot needs and I can't figure out how to avoid the frumpiness. Some gentle feedback - a few times in the video you suggest that women who look frumpy have "given up." A lot of your viewers are trying to learn how to not be frumpy, and we haven't "given up," but style may not come as naturally to us as it does to you. There are lots of things we're good at, but putting outfits together isn't one of them. Normally your videos are positive and inspiring, so that judgmental tone stood out.
Please don't take this wrong, but your sweater today is WAY too close to your skin tone to be flattering. It washes you out. As for the coat issue, some women can't afford to have multiple coats, especially a nice dress coat. Many have to be more practical. I understand what you're saying, but that may be all the woman has. Some very good tips today though, especially the age appropriate advice.
I respectfully disagree. The sweater is beautiful and the tone on tone is intriguing especially with the nude makeup - like the sheer trend but much more modest. I will also say that she never suggested that you buy a bunch of different coats but provided options and suggestions. For example, if you can only have a puffer get one that can provide some shape.
Agree on the coat thing. I do not have the budget or physical storage space to maintain multiple pieces of outerwear for multiple seasons. If a piece of outerwear isn't getting worn multiple times a week during its season, it's wasted space!
Everything isn’t for everybody … what I like are all the suggestions of where to get things… what works for one won’t work for all… take what is good for you and be happy for that…
I very much disagree regarding her sweater. This conversation is really a suggestion on taking your time to find fashion and function. I have three coats one I share for spring and fall since it's chilly and rainy in my climate during both of those seasons. I buy one very warm coat to get me through the bulk of winter. I have one really nice warm dress coat to get me through all of those winter ❄️ holiday parties. You don't need to buy a lot nor anything expensive. My dress coat is from a thrift shop.

And you do very well, Shirley! I love seeing you on Instagram rocking your style! 😃
I just discovered your channel and I love love love your messege! You have such good energy!
Thanks so much! I try to keep it fun and positive.

You are so welcome, thank you so much for watching! 😃
LUV your sweater! And you look awesome wearing it! It looks great on you!😊
All great advice Oralia! I am guilty of wearing the same uniform so to speak but I am starting to branch out.

It's all in how you accessorize it or belt it. 😉

Yes please do a video on how to layer clothing under a jacket!!

You are so incredibly inspirational, thankyou so much ❤

Thank you so much!!
Would love a video about layer. How to make it stylish.
Winter accessories make a difference! Even with more casual coat, the right shoes and winter hat can make the difference in making it look classier.
Had to giggle when you mentioned the frumpy shoes. My mom called them Nun shoes.
Oralia, I just started the video but I had to come comment immediately on your beautiful makeup look today!!! Those colors are beautiful on you!! ❤

I love your dark straight leg denim jeans. Where can I shop for them?
I purchased them at Abercrombie & Fitch: bit.ly/3M85I1e
Thanks for your fast reply. Love your advice and help. You are doing a great job!

I'll have to look into it, thank you so much for sharing!
Could you do a video for the women who can only afford one winter coat. Suggest how to use it in multiple ways.

Hello Oralia
Hi Oralia, If you have a large bust (plus size), are double breasted coats/blazers flattering OR is a single breast coat/blazer better?
I appreciate this as someone that lives in a colder climate, I'm a tomboy discovering my femininity.
You made me laugh so hard frumpville it’s so funny
😆 So glad you enjoyed it!
😮😮❤❤❤❤❤❤😊😊😊😊😊

Just a thin black scarf around her neck would fix that.
