      As for the most helpful tip - I think it was about immersing myself in the topic I’m learning rather than hopping from one lesson to the next. I’m definitely guilty of “ticking the box” trait and need to slow down and really solidify some of the techniques before moving to something new!

    Wonderful! You asked for my biggest "take-away." I want to say you have revealed the "secrets" of creative people--artistic production is not linear, it's bit-by-bit learning and practice, and inspiration at 3:00 am. The holistic approach is the best one, for my money. Count me in. By the way have you read Spinoza?

    I am so proud of your progress with the website, I remember when I discovered you like 10 years ago or so, I knew you were an excellent teacher and I could see in your video that you add an amazing determination. The techniques that you teach are those my teacher thought me so I am happy to have found you to pursue my progress. My biggest difficulty is that I started piano very late at 21 years old, but I am getting good now. I read music efficiently and can play a lot of hard pieces. The problem I do have is that it seems I cannot play hard pieces perfectly, some passages are difficult and I guess my fingering isn't on point. Take Bach's prelude no.3 in C# major, I am never sure which fingering I should use. Once you have a fingering in your hands, it is hard to reprogram to choose a more efficient one. Any tips?

    • @pianocareer
      @pianocareer  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Thank you very much, Alain! I have several detailed tutorials focused on ergonomic fingering in the Members Area of our site. However, fingering is not something we can address separately - and it's also not the only cause of 'imperfect' playing. In 99% of the cases, the culprit is a combination of incorrect practice, inefficient technique and insufficient aural/mental guidance. If our practice is well-balanced, focused, and based on a clear understanding of our expressive tasks - assimilating the most efficient fingering becomes a natural part of the process. I explain and demonstrate how this works in all my tutorials focused on various pieces (including the free ones you can find here on TH-cam). Good luck! ;)

    Hi! If starting playing with the Russian method initial book, when can you start studying scales and arpeggios? Do you have to be in an intermediate level?

    • @pianocareer
      @pianocareer  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi Damaris! Scales & arpeggios are very important for beginners - so you don't need to wait until the intermediate level 😊. Let me explain how it works: on PianoCareerAcademy, we have several step-by-step Courses (on top of all the hundreds of stand-alone tutorials). Our Course for Beginners is based on Nikolaev's "Russian School of Piano Playing", and it takes you to the intermediate level. Our Scale & Arpeggio Course can be started as soon as you complete Lesson No. 48 for Beginners. Reaching this Lesson usually takes 3-6 months of practice, but this is still the 'middle beginner' level 😇. From this moment, you can follow both Courses simultaneously - and also watch/read any other tutorial that interests you (as the membership gives you access to our entire library). You can learn more about both Courses by reading my detailed answers to questions No. D2 and D3 from our FAQs [ www.pianocareeracademy.com/faqs ].

    • @damarisfuenteslorenzo
      @damarisfuenteslorenzo ปีที่แล้ว

      @@pianocareer Ok, thank you! I started with Nikolaev's first book, and it went well at the first pages, but suddenly it starts to show exercises with flats and sharps without explaining anything before - things about key signatures or 5th circle -. So I played notes without knowing exactly why those notes are there.

    • @pianocareer
      @pianocareer  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@damarisfuenteslorenzo The Nikolaev book was not designed for self-taught musicians. It can only be used under the guidance of a Russian-trained teacher. Otherwise, you will miss 99% of its value. It's not about what notes you play, it's all about HOW you do it. That's why I created by Video Course for Beginners :).

    It is just way too expensive.

    • @pianocareer
      @pianocareer  3 ปีที่แล้ว +13

      Hi! You only say that because you haven't been a PCA member yet :). Most of our members tell us that the membership is actually ridiculously cheap considering the enormous value we offer (which cannot be compared to other piano programs). Consider this: a 45-minute lesson with a teacher of my level (Russian Conservatory graduate, Masters degree, 30+ years of experience) ranges today between $70 to $200 per 45 minutes. As a member of PCA, you get access to EVERYTHING I have ever created (more than 1000 super-detailed, in-depth, high-quality tutorials, several step-by-step Courses, weekly feedback to your recordings, member concerts etc.) for only $47 per MONTH (and the yearly price is even cheaper). Moreover, the value of our program is continually increasing (new tutorials and features are added on a regular basis, we now have an amazing brand new website etc.) - while the price has NOT changed since 2012. In financial terms, this means that PCA gets cheaper every year. I'm not saying all this to you personally (obviously, you don't have to join if you cannot afford it, I totally understand this) - I'm simply mentioning these simple facts for everyone who might be reading your comment. Also, a little perspective change: the fact that we cannot afford something doesn't mean that it is too expensive :))).

      Hi! Where are you based? In my country a weekly half-hour lesson with an average private teacher costs 2 to 3x more than PCA.

    • @bluechipstamp
      @bluechipstamp 3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Hi, as a current PCA member who has barely scratched the surface of the vast amount of quality content, and who has already seen marked improvement in my piano playing, I can unequivocally say, it is NOT too expensive. In fact, the value for your money is extremely good. I wish I could find an "in-person" teacher as good as Ilinca and her assistant Yuko. But barring that, this is the next best thing and I am so very thankful that the Piano Career Academy exists.
