The large footings get a 'mud ' base poured at the bottom. This is a firm surface to support the heavy rebar, and to give a surface to very accurately set the height of the bolts for the columns.
I am so glad you did get there to see the very first columns (in your video short!). They might have posted our American Flag there just for you and your viewers. So the whole country/world could see that as well as the workers on the site. (Anybody who has a problem can complain to the "warden." 🙂). I also really do think your idea is very good about finishing the part of the building where at least a few assembly lines can be begun as soon as possible. Certainly the rest of it could wait if necessary. Looking forward to seeing Semi trucks rolling out off those lines!
Must be so exciting as a drone operator to see actual structure being built. Ive watched all the gigafactory drone videos and i remember this is the stage where things start getting interesting in terms of documenting the progress
1:43. Orange item to the left. Correction. I guessed crane components in an earlier video. Further investigation shows it to be a BZI Panel Table. A jig for lifting ground assembled wall or floor panels into place. Search BZI Panel Table for examples of use. 5:31. Columns. Correction 2. Connection tabs are for wall purlins. Refer again to BZI site for information on the Wallmaster to see how the wall paneling will be attached. 6:13. BZI has a Mezzmaster system for floor and roof structures that would almost require the roof be assembled and lifted immediately the next line of columns is erected. Mezzmaster attaches to a telehandler, which have limited reach.
I got in before shares were split twice. The last few years have been like this, watching videos and staying abreast of developments. It's like therapy as we wait for the share price to take off again, isn't it?
When I compare the model rendering with the actual footprint being prepared in the southeast corner, there seems to have been something added to the project after the model was created. Do you know what these footings or walls are for?
Vans are on the way. Perhaps there will be a big one based on the Semi design. RVs of that size too. If so that factory would be ready to go for larger volume production.
The slow progress at Giga Nevada makes it feel like someone is forcing Tesla to build that factory against their will. This is if I compare it to the China, Germany and Texas factories.

Thank you so much for your dedication. I am following these just like I followed Joe Tegtmeyer's postings.
