All the members especially up to 4th gen will tell you that the true spiritual leader of morning musume is Yuu-chan, and will always be. She's beautiful, strong, bright and funny. She steered MM in ways that we will never know. Although its been 10 years now since she graduated, she's still there for almost every musume's graduation since hers. If that doesnt show her dedication, it definately shows why she is the undisputed leader of MM.
And she made all, learning to be an idol at the same time she learned to be a leader. Even today, shen Risa Niigaki start a new musical theater play, Yuko send her a bouquet.

初期メンバーは絆が強いと思うし良きライバル同士であり仲間だからこそASAYAN時見ていた者としてはぐっとくるものがあります。モー娘。大黒柱であり絶対的リーダーの中澤裕子の存在は大きかったし厳しくも優しく後輩から慕われていたんだなぁと感じる動画でした😌ハロモニでは後輩達と良く絡んでますしモー娘。卒業公演も見に行ったりとモー娘。愛が１番強いのは中澤裕子なのかもしれません。
初期メンは、言うことがやっぱ違うよね。デビューできるか分からない状態からのスタートで、力を合わせていろんな苦難を乗り越えてきたもんね。

IMO Yuko Nakazawa doesn't get the credit she deserves. Morning Musume was as much her creation as it was Tsunko's.
the older members' speech are much more personal and less generic. yuko wrapped it up just perfectly
