Playing thief for myself (pve) and seeing that stealth is not really the go to way - seeing how vesatile the thiefs stealth and mobility is in fractals this is so refreshing. I am discovering a complete new side of my thief utilizing these stealth mechanics in fractals. First I was not sure if tzat was so valuable but dude - skipping mobs and stuff like that is really fun and helps the speedtime in group a lot! It has to be an orginzed group tho but still I really like that my thief can bring this utility to the party other than just being a pure dps. Thx as always for your videos - the quality and information is superb.
Other then this HARDLY EVER going to be the case when you pug as anyone has already said a few times in the comments, this was a great video and hopefully if more an more people see strategy's like this they can start to do them. However yea nice community aside I see MAYBE 10 to 20% of pugs being open to stealthiness moving past and i think im being very generous with that number. Correct me if I am wrong, but I think that the duo method for the panels mentioned in this guide no longer works. Even with stability, you will stop interacting with the console when the panels close. I was able to duo it recently by way of interacting at the max console range, but the HD I had the recording on died shortly after and I never got around to uploading the video
I don't quite agree with the stealth strats showed in this guide cause 99% of PUG groups would never be able to pull them off, you should show some strategy more pug friendly, or at least suggested something do able for that kind of groups, well that's just my point of view. That aside, great video, keep the good work!
I was wondering the same thing. I am just starting out doing fractals. While the advanced strategies are interesting to watch, what happens in a pug when you have a random set of professions? I watched this because it is today's daily, but now I'm thinking that there is no way that this one could be completed as a pug unless you get lucky with your group. Still, these videos are very helpful. Thanks for posting them.
The alternate solution is to simply kill stuff and stand on the buttons then. Our aim with these guides were to highlight more advanced strategies and playstyle details that players could strive for, not to necessarily provide every alternative. I understand your concerns in PUG scenarios, though I do not agree with your reasoning, as I believe all players should strive to better themselves by seeking out proficiency in their undertakings, hence these guides. That being said; a follow-up video is in the works in regards to your concerns about advanced skill usage (such as stealth). This is to explain some of the "basics" of combo fields, blast finishers, and the like, to make it more approachble and managable for players to engage in these sorts of strategies. TL;DR: I'm working on a way to showcase the skill based strategies (stealth, might, etc.) in a more manageable way for all players to learn from :)
I agree that all players should try improve, that is where the fun is :), I didn't know the stability trick and got interested in trying the duo mesmer/thief (its our mains^^) with my friend so we can carry anyone :P ty to your video now I know we can do that :P but imo this stealth strats requires some skill lvl that you can't possibly hope to pull off in a pug environment. What I usually see in pugs is they kill the mobs on gate 1st, put on all survivability skills/traits/weapons, the guy who has confidence he can do button, goes button (sometimes is a class with easy stealth some times not) and hope for the guys on buttons survive long enough to the button finish casting, while the other two being meat shields for the mobs. Fractals T4 are not worth it at the moment in my opinion, the rng on loot don't make up for the time and patience you will need if you get bad luck with pugs, usually I just pug the easy ones, and only do the hard ones with friends/guildies.
good guide, but I have two concerns: You ran the buttons with thieves which don't have Daredevil but instead the traitline which will increase the maximum initiative, you probably should've showed the build/traitline or at least mentioned it. 2nd thing is, you probably could add, that blinding is mostly useless here, as dredges aren't affected by it. but that's it, keep up the good work :)
+derRAV3N Will add the alternative thief stealth build to the description :) As for the dredge: yeah, that was a missed detail to include on our behalf :/ The entire script for all videos was 73 pages long, so we're bound to have missed a few things here and there regardless :P
For the last boss Ice elemental part, I find it super annoying to play necromancer as the boss will somehow focusing on the minion instead of moving, any helpful tips for that? :(
I don't understand why you would wait until the overheated buff has ended before starting to bring the boss under the next cauldron... You have enormous downtime with overheated buff and thus damage. Care to explain?
+MArsethewalrus Lazy movement on our behalf, nothing more really :P Ideally, if your group is melee you want the entire group to slowly move towards the next drop zone, constantly minding who has agro, so that that person may stand at the correct distance for the boss to continuously move.
After rewatching the video now, I've noticed during the last boss you don't start kiting it towards the next lava spot until the "burn" phase is over/ almost over. Can you explain why? Why don't you kite backwards at the same time you are dpsing? Minion problems?
is it just me or sometimes your guildies aply stealth on themselves but it doesn't. I mean when the mesmer uses his skills and items to aplay stealth thata doesnt happen and instead he reveals him self

yo derior, at 6:55, you can just jump on top of that rock instead of waiting for the orange circles. It's a faster way
Slight mistake in the video, at 7:55 - on the "Fractal Contents" panel the wrong path is crossed (they cross out in the wrong order)

The environment in the dredge fractal can activate combat sometimes if you hit it the wrong places -.- It's simply bad environment design.
