  • I'm really excited to get the new ViparSpectra XS1000 LED grow light. The PAR values show that it will be best for houseplants, seedlings, and cuttings, when hung higher up in a large grow tent. This light is perfect for growers like us because it uses a full light spectrum, using quality components, and consumes only 120 watts. I'm definitely looking forward to growing some of our houseplants and seedlings with this grow light!

    Just recently found your channel and love all the plant cutting information. Based on watching a lot of light videos (and this video too) I picked up the XS1500 this week because it had an Amazon coupon making it about the same $ as the XS1000. It just arrived and the construction is top notch. Thanks for the review.

    I wished I saw this video earlier. I bought 4 LED lights 4 feet long to fit in my metal shelving. I thought I need need more watts to grow seeds and house plants. What I fought out very quickly was it to much light and there is no light controller. Defiantly a learning curve with growing lights.

    • @MikeKincaid79
      @MikeKincaid79  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, it's easy to have too much light for houseplants and seedling. Doesn't take much. At least now you have tons of light. Spread them out over a larger area and have much more room to grow.

      Thanks! I think I got a little off track on this one. New what I wanted to do but I was all over the place, lol. I need to kind of "redo" this to get my point across better. In the end, it doesn't matter what company you go with, these low watt and full spectrum LEDs are perfect for hanging high up in a large tent and growing all the things I mentioned here. The more I think about it, I would love to buy an 8' x 4' grow tent and hang 2 of these lights in it. One for each 4x4 section. I'd have more than enough light to grow a massive amount of plants, with quality full spectrum light, and at very low wattage. Now I just have to convince my wife that we need a 4 x 8 grow tent in the living room, lol.

      @@MikeKincaid79 I think you did fine, you did what a lot of us do and you shared the results. You got your information across well, did it with a great attitude, encouraging words and showing you are human. Perfection is an illusion used to make us feel we are not good enough. It is a trap we have a choice to be locked into. I felt it showed me that if I don't think the light is as bright as it should be, make sure it is at full brightness.

    I've been told I can't grow daylilies from seed to flower indoors. I don't believe that. I'm only going to grow 30 plants at the most. Questions: 1. Is there much heat with these lights? 2. Is there anything I can use other than an expensive tent like you have to contain the light? 3. How many lights do you think I'd need to light up and entire 10' X 10' room! Hi Mike, For propagating rose cuttings indoor during winter, which grow light would be appropriate?

    • @MikeKincaid79
      @MikeKincaid79  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Honestly, I wouldn't get too crazy with it or spend a lot of money. The best bang for your buck is simple fluorescent bulbs that are just a few inches above the plant or cuttings. I like to use T8 bulbs that have daylight Kelvin rating, like around 5000 Kelvin. I leave them on for at least 14 hours a day but you can go all the way up to 24 hours per day on. If you've got a little extra money and want a flashy setup, then the light in this video has been fun to work with and does a great job.

    Thanks so much for the information Mike, it was hard to decide there is so much out there, I do care about the lumens. So what lumens do you want for Cannabis, reside in a legal state. (maybe you don't want to go there, that's fine).

    • @MikeKincaid79
      @MikeKincaid79  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I'd focus more on PAR for plant growth. Lumens are what the human eye sees but only represents a small portion of the light spectrum. So if you're going only by lumens then you may be missing much of the light that the plants need. PAR is a much better measure of light for plants. I don't mind going there, plants are plants!

      Generic LEDs will definitely do the same job as the fluorescent bulbs but at a lower wattage. The only problem with generic shop lights is that they don't have a full spectrum of light so the plants won't reach their full potential.
