Ben, like the tip about staying a little inside, then paddling to the wave. At my super crowded point break, this has really helped to pick up the right waves, see them better and especially how they are building. I also try to memorize the tide height in advance. So much better then waiting way outside and getting o into a bunch of energy sapping paddle battles. 😅 Still want to hear your latest results, strength and flexibility training methods 👏
I'm surfing the beach break in Kuta, Bali and following your advice. I'm not new to surfing but very very rusty and injured so surfing longboard on smaller waves. Struggling with paddling out eg rolling the board and catching waves. This video is a big help. Thanks.
Im always going over the top of my board when I try to catch. If I move further back I don't catch the wave. Usually I get tumbled with the board and hit my head and face on the board. I moved to surfing a lighter soft top 8 ft board.
@@BenConsidine thanks. I am 76 years old and I’m realising that being able to paddle well and get in early is key to a good start to the ride. But as you get older you get weaker, so I need better technique to counter that natural decline.
I was going to tell you my secret for catching waves like it's magic but then everyone would know. Needless to say there are ways to catch waves that seems impossible.

Please! A video on turning around on a longboard would be appreciated.
Okay no worries!!!
Yes. Please. I take forever to turn and I usually get flipped bc I’m mid turn
Not a problem - working on the next vid covering this now!
Yes, thank you. A video on pivoting faster while sitting as well as turning your board while paddling would be very helpful.
Hey Vincent! I have just dropped a video on this, I hope its useful 🙏
Definitely would love to see techniques of turning the board around and catch wave. 😊

Thanks heaps Bernie! Really glad you're enjoying them!
Ben, have you since created the video for the turn and paddle technique of this strategy?
Ben, i hope you can make a video on how to tame your arms while riding and which is better: arms up or arms down? Cheers!

Absolutely, and oftentimes good paddle technique is the most important thing!
I struggle with my paddle technique more than anything else…. 😔
Tips on that all-important quick turnaround would be appreciated!
Great tip! The thing is I still take too long to turn😅
Thanks so much!! Hope it was handy!! It does take practise haha, the following video after this one went out goes through turning :)
It seems to me that the secret to catching waves is 1. Positioning 2. Timing 3. Paddling. The better you do 1 and 2 the less you need 3.
just fucking beautiful🤙🤙🤙
