  • What is Klipper and why do you want it?
    I love klipper and think that you would too, but why?
    What is klipper and why is it different from everything else you’re likely to encounter when it comes to 3d printer controlling firmware?

    Thanks for sharing this view now I am going to have to dig a little more into this Klipper firmware. Especially barely knowing how to operate my micro wave oven and still trying to understand my Ender 3 Neo. Happy printing.

    I would love to see a video where you slice a file on orca slicer and send it just to show that final part of a successful install

    KLIPPER is a great upgrade for any printer. Iv installed Klipper from watching your vids on my ender 3 S1 Pro. However, no one talks about how to set up the slicer (ie Cura or Slic3r) to work with it ! Im at a stand still for the moment. Trying to figure out how to set up Cura. (current version). AND no one talks about how to use Macro's. Just see people saying that using them is more useful. Iv been reading thru the Klipper documents. But im lost. My dyslexia, and ADD make understanding what i read difficult. Can you do a Cura Slicer setup vid? AND do a Macro's vid???

      Literally this! I mean just read 1 page of install on Klipper page, and you have your printer running. THEN WHAT?

    I followed your recent series on installing it, made a huge difference to the speed of printing a major project 🫡

    Marlin on a good 32 bit mcu can do benchys in 30 minutes too without a sweat. My modernized ultimeker 2, which is 10 years old (but with a direct extruder and a fast microcontroller and remote cooling) can make ok looking benchies in as little as 15 minutes.

    Thanks for the explanation! I recently installed Klipper and I have everything working, but then my quiestion is, what should I modify in the slicer to get more speed in my prints? For example you compared you ender 3 with Marlin and then klipper and you got your benchy faster... what did you do? Thanks again

    I have an Ender 3 v2 with Sonic Pad Klipper and I am very happy with it. Would love to know how I can use KAMP on it just to quicken up the pre level stage over the 5x5 probe first?

    A little off topic but couldn't you print a clip to stop the blind adjustment stick swinging when you open and close the door

    I have an Ender 3 V2 gathering dust along with a Creality Sonic Pad that has never been configured for use. I now have an K1 Max that I use for 3d printing of repair parts and fun stuff for my 3 year old granddaughter. In the past a Raspberry Pi 4B running Octo Print was used to send models and monitor Ender 3 V2 prints. I would like to reuse my Ender 3 V2 and learn how to use Klipper. I notice you have migrated to using a Raspberry Pi instead of a Sonic Pad. Can you share your thoughts on what additional benefits the Raspberry PI has vs the Sonic Pad?

      I would also be curious what the benefits are moving from a Sonic Pad to a Raspberry PI.

    • @davewilliams8050
      @davewilliams8050 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      After doing some research and looking at Sonic Pad's releases including GitHub repositories, I came to the conclusion that Creality's implementation of Klipper is not fully open source. This means that new Klipper features and add ins may not be installable on the Sonic Pad. This should not be true regarding Klipper installs on Raspberry Pi or laptop computers IMO. Sonic Pad firmware hasn't been updated for 9 months or so too. I conclude that using a Raspberry Pi with a touchpad will be my choice going forward as well.

    Excellent video. I’ve asked this question in the comments of another of your videos and still looking for help… I came across a video, then the command in Klipper docs for Z probe Tilt. Applies to printers with tri stepper motor Z control. And it looks to take the 1.3 mm bed warp out of the bed mesh in the K1C…
    Are you familiar with this command? I’d appreciate any advice, wisdom you care to share. Thanks for the video!!

    Which begs the question - how do we upgrade to Klipper! I have numerous bed slingers using Marlin and Octoprint. I’d love to improve the print quality and time savings

    I would love a comparison between klipper vs MRISCOC with LA and IS, as it allow faster speeds and great quality without klipper

      I have no idea what MRISCO with LA and IS is…. I will look it up. Is it a program similar to klipper?

    klipper gives life to old printers ant the best part is that you can have a UI even on a old android phone etc example i run a ender3 pro from a 10 year old laptop or my elegoo neptune 3 plus from a pi4 the neptune 3 comes with marlin or even my k1 thats rooted ! and dont forget the many micros its a game changer and its (open sorce)

    Next.... Take a look at KAMP it saves a massive amount of time in that it only probes the print area of your current print not the whole bed and does a purge line next to the print....

    Is that possible to run kipper without pi?

    • @GodsFavDrunkDriver
      @GodsFavDrunkDriver 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      you can supposedly run it on old laptop

    • @firstNamelastName-ho6lv
      @firstNamelastName-ho6lv 13 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Using a pi is the whole point I believe. You can use a pi zero if a regular one is too expensive. It may be possible with an old PC and a Microcontroller with GPIO pins.

    First layers are dependant on how clean the bed is, how well it is leveled, and slicer settings. NONE of these have ANYTHING to do with the printer firmware. If t he bed is well leveled MECHANICALLY then the effective parallelism between the print head and the bed matters, which the printer firmware DOES control. SO, in most cases, the first level being put down well doesn't really work better on Klipper or Marlin, though it may be easier to configure the printer with Klipper to get a good first layer. After that, the odds of a first layer failure are probably about the same for either. At least that's been my experience.

    • @firstNamelastName-ho6lv
      @firstNamelastName-ho6lv 13 วันที่ผ่านมา

      He was talking about how nice it is to monitor it through the camera, and firmware can definitely impact the first layer. I have an adventurer 3 that absolutely sucks at bed leveling. Either it needs extensive hardware changes or firmware changes to make it reliable.
