    This video is so good. All of the information is useful. None of it is misleading or incorrect. It's presented excellently and the examples or incredibly relevant. I shared this with a friend who is trying to learn how to mix vocals and you explained it so much better and faster than I would have. Thank you.

    Great Video! The dude knows what he is talking about. Scripting this type of video is the only way to present it in a way that won't take 30 minutes.

      @@joshuacook6981 Yeah, I suspect you're right about phase alignment being harder to control with brick wall filters.
      I think the future of DSP will make speaker building incredibly easy. The user will set an EQ curve to their liking, specify how many degrees out of phase they will tolerate, how much distortion they'll accept, and then a measurement software program runs sweeps and adjusts crossover points, crossover slopes, delays, and filters to achieve the best result. If it can't be done it will prompt you to increase tolerances on a certain criteria. Then you measure off axis response to confirm.
      For all I know, pro versions of Clio already offer this.

    I'm no rube, but I'll admit, I didn't understand LPF and HPF terms until I watched this video! I know what I want when I only want x frequency and above to pass but didn't know what to call it! Thanks so much!

    The way this person explained these very things bring so much clarity, it takes away all of the complexities concerning EQ-ing and tone shaping when mixing.
    Thank you so very much for everything! ;)

    I have a parasound amp. I have an option of setting high pass filter to 20 or 40hz. I have monitors and a sub. Where do I set the amps high pass filter to? 20 or 40hz? Or I could set it to flat. Disconnecting filter

    Actually most often high pass filters are set to around 40Hz. We feel these low frequencies more than we hear them. Most instruments and vocals have nothing besides mud below 50Hz.

  • @j7ndominica051
    @j7ndominica051 8 ปีที่แล้ว

    Suppose I want to use a highpass filter to remove a variable DC offset. I have a quality IIR equalizer, but its cuttoff only goes down to 20 hz. Could I get the filter to act below 10 hz if I were to speed up my audio twice by doubling its sampling rate before processing? I know usually there is a catch when dealing with frequencies.

    Which software can I use to apply these filters in a mp4 file?

  • @walshythemusician
    @walshythemusician 9 ปีที่แล้ว

    Why is the cutoff frequency not the actual cutoff point for the attenuation? You can see that if you use a high pass filter with a "cutoff frequency" of 25Hz, the attenuation actually starts at around 55Hz. Surely this would mean that 55Hz is the true "cutoff frequency"right? Why do filters work like this?

    Your voice sounds very sharp- it could use less high end what is your solution what is the highest frequency you arr making in this video, it is a bit irratating so what is the fix.
