I would have had to stop, thinking that I was driving the chipmunk into the abyss, in its attempt to evade me. It likely nests right near the opening. Ugh; I'm too soft for this world.
I don't like to disrupt the critters that live in the mines. I'm fairly certain that this rodent was fine after we left. It has probably retreated into the mine previously evading its natural predators like foxes and cats. Also, it's not a huge mine and a straight shot back to the portal. Thanks for your concern for the little guy! 👍😊

With the galvanized air pipes must be a mine from the 50s ?
@BruceErb-g1q The minecwas worked much earlier than the 50s. I don't know when galvanized vent pipe was first used or when that ventilating device was made. Thanks for the comment, Bruce!👍😁
You guys are like a couple of gophers 😊 but thanks.
Hi Bruce. You're welcome. We don't mind gophering for you. 👍😁
If you haven't tried it yet... get a small can of tabacca, put a pinch inside your gum.
You will see that those miners were 'loaded' on Nicotine.
@yowser8780 I have chewed a bit of tobacco in my day. You do get a nicotine kick from it. The miners sure did l8ke tobacco judging from all the tins we see. Thanks for watching!👍😁
