I really like the new Bronco, But i totally agree with you! I would own an FJ Cruiser. Doesnt matter if its an automatic or a manual. Doesnt matter if its stock, modded or if its a Trail Teams version. I just love the FJs a lot!!
Reverse is in the wrong place in the shift pattern, but other than that the FJ is just about perfect. It's a real shame they stopped making them. I'd buy one today, with a manual transmission, over the 2024 Land Cruiser with its garbage drive train. The manual bronco is an option, but it's seriously overpriced and they mated the manual transmission to an absolute dog of an engine to dissuade people from opting for the manual. What about a Jeep? I'm 6'2. I sat in a manual Gladiator the other day and my head was sticking out the top of the roof like something out of the Flintstones. Really wish some manufacturer out there would build a solid, reliable, manual transmission off-roader for enthusiasts. Until then, there's the old FJ Cruiser 6MT...if you can find one.
You might be able to find a used Bronco as the market starts to come back down to reality. What about a Tacoma? Those aren't exactly cheap though either. But there's definitely something great about the simplicity of the FJ.
@@GearboxCarReviews - The Tacoma is a solid mid-size truck, and it still comes in a manual, but it's a little small inside for someone my height. At least the FJ has a slightly taller body and seems to accommodate taller people a little better. The new Bronco has that going for it as well, which is nice, but some of the decisions they made regarding the drive train and the outrageous price make it a no-go for me. Looking at a used one, as you suggested, might be an option, but given how hard they are to find right now, I think even the used prices are going to remain astronomical for a while.
I’ve had shit luck with my FJ. 5 transmission shop trips. Upgraded the clutch to hydraulic… big mistake. Now I still need a new trans and clutch system.
Not to mention, the bronco will actively lose value as it ages. FJ’s will keep gaining value, especially the manual if we ever receive a new version that will likely be an auto and four cylinder.
Yeah, definitely. A lot of people are already losing their shirt on their Broncos because of ADM. These have bottomed out and started to go back up. If Toyota did bring them back, I wouldn't be surprised to see a manual, but I think you're right that they'd probably be 4-cylinder turbos.
Lol. After working on cars for over 25 years I'll tell you right now that FJ will still be running when that Bronco goes to the scrap yard.

I own a manual 2011. best vehicle I have ever own. Really reliable
That's awesome! Glad you love it! Would love to have one as a second or third car if I had the money for it. Enjoy!

I’m 6’6 parents have 2007 TRD SE Manual and I fit fine just have to tilt wheel up all the way.
Great truck. It should be coming back very soon
Are they bringing it back as an EV? All I've seen is the speculation about it. They just announced the end of the global production for the FJ.

Ooof, man sorry to hear that!
So, did all manual FJ cruisers get a full time 4WD system? Or was there any with the part time system?
The manual got the full time awd. Part time awd was available in some markets, but only with the 5 speed auto.
You're favorably comparing a ten year old vehicle to a new one, that says a lot.
Yeah, for sure. If you want something simple, it's tough to find that in a new car.
Hello, I am looking for a 2013 model and above. I hope you can help me. Thank you

Hello, what kind of help are you looking for?
