This was the best movie of my childhood, this was insanely creative I would NEVER think of something like this if I made movies, so cool, it's very realistic. 5 years would've been worth it to make this masterpiece, it's beautiful
Far too underrated. My mentor for animation showed me this video some years back. He died, now I think about him when seeing this. Found this incredible piece of art through him. And I definitely need this as a dvd at home!!
I watched the movie at least 3 times. But after seeing this making of video, I loved the movie the more. OMG! The stop-motion process is incredible, and explains why Kubo & the 2 Strings is such an extraordinary piece of art. Hats off guys, for the minds, technologies and oh-patience put into this incredible film! Wow
rest assured that everyone who worked hard behind this movie knows how much we loved their movie, its super underrated but you got to admit, it was super incredible and the amount of effort that went into it shows that there was still soul in the movie industry

My son was gifted a camera that comes with a little tripod stand for Christmas and i know there is a desire to try stop motion. Thank you for inspiring others through your dedication to your craft.
This particular audience member doesn't just want to be taken on a journey... if I could just huddle in a corner of one part of the studio, and even watch them make part of ONE scene... I would die happy. It's such an incredible feat to behold! This animation style, and yes, this movie, need more love!
This movie is amazing. A masterpiece in my eyes. One of my favorite movies of all time. I cannot thank everyone who made this movie enough in my mind. 5 years for a 2 hr movie. I acknowledge the time & labor. I am happy. I hope you are still happy. I hope for more movies from this production team & a Sequel!
From my childhood on when I started to understand what movies are, I taught myself stop motion animation without any help from youtube videos or else and seeing this making of and how you actually have to move every part of the puppets body for every frame is bringing back the memories when I made stop motion with lego bricks and that incredible amount of work you have to put into it for a few seconds, not to speak for an hour and half of animation. That would be my dreamjob no matter how painfully long it can be :)
You know, I'm just watching this movie in 2022, and I had no idea you really did this using actual stop motion! You guys are insane to do it this way. You could have made this entire film using CGI to make stop motion with close to the same look. I don't know how you got the skin shader to look that good, so I definitely thought was cgi, especially the water in the opening scene. Amazing work.
I hate that these sets just sit in a warehouse somewhere. It really deserves to be displayed in an art museum somewhere. I’d be surprised if LA doesn’t have a film museum
I found the movie to be beautifully done, and seeing and hearing more about what went into creating it just makes me appreciate it that much more. One thing that’s really mind blowing to me is just how large the puppet for the giant skeleton was. They didn’t scale down the characters to make it look bigger than it was, they actually built it to be big. Stop motion really is an art all its own, and I don’t think the people that work on these films get enough credit for all of the work that has to go into bringing us what we see on the screen.
I ABSOLUTELY LOVED this movie!!! It is my all time favourite movie because it is just sooooo beautiful and the five years it took to make it totally payed off. I am inspired to try my hand at stop-motion.
Best stop motion film movie ever this is a beautiful and I say beautiful movie they worked very hard and I’m thankful that they made this movie.❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

I didnt even realise this was stop motion until i remebered Its the same company as coraline and then looked a little harder. I thought they put a slower frame rate to give it a stop motion "effect'. Ive never in my life witnessed a stop motion production so beautifully impressive. The collaboration between so many art forms and technology/robotics and camera work. What a show of how far humans have come at story telling. I'd give anything for one of those puppets or even one of the faces/masks 🥺 WHO gets go keep those?! Lol
Wow, I can’t believe this actually came out 4 YEARS AGO. It soo deserved the OSCAR instead of the other film which got it, which obviously these days is inherently forgettable.

TheMarionick it talked about rascism and deep topics, besides just because it's a cgi movie, doesn't mean they didn't work hard people think that cgi is easier and handrawn and stop motion animators work hard, but 2 weeks of an animators work can fill 10 seconds of a film (in cgi)
