- A mod which scales all the planets and moons down by a factor of 10, this makes Kerbin 60km radius with a 7km atmosphere, It's so cute!

For those who want to know: MiniGilly is just like a tiny, slightly more bumpy version of Gilly. You can pretty much enter orbit by sneezing.
Corollary: You can escape orbit by sneezing. So remember to catch the sneeze with your tissue (or your helmet).
you can get into escape velocity by nose breathing
You could hold it in your hand
MiniGilly probably has a smaller surface area than The Vatican

Gilly is about 2km radius in the real game, so just imagine a 2km wide Asteroid ○~○

I do actually have a B612-like mod: Billiard's Planet Pack. Doesn't resize all the planets, just adds a few new ones. The asteroid Munroe is the exact specifications of XKCD's Little Planet what if. There's also Sprinkle: a 40m Minmus, and Drip: a 120m Laythe.

Well, I guess they should rename minmus to mini-mus.
It would be a neat feature if a mod had a warp drive, which enabled this mod when active, and when deactivated, it would place you in the same relative position without this mod. That way you could have airplanes getting around the planet in minutes rather than hours!

SkulShurtugalTCG I think newton has a problem with that fantasy. Just like you can't shoot a cannonball into orbit, at most the ball goes around the earth just to hit the back of the cannon it was fired from, you can't jump into orbit. You'd just hit the thing you jumped off of.

+alexww180 Yeah. A planet with (roughly) 100th earth's diameter would have only 1 millionth the volume, and hence 1 millionth as much natural resources. The total surface area would also be smaller, limiting how much agriculture you can do and hence what your population could grow to be. Also, the atmosphere would be very fragile and much more sensitive to global warming or nuclear winter.
+Chris Gaming So the only way the Kerbal civilization could survive is by expanding into space for both natural resources and land for agriculture. At least the delta-vs are much smaller and terraforming is way easier!
Chris Gaming The population of Kerbals is also 10 times as small as the normal size. So it is not really needed to get more land for agriculture, but terraforming is so easy, that we easily can populate all the bodies around Kerbol

Toy Kerbin vs real Kerbin in terms of orbital velocities is like throwing yourself off a very steep cliff as opposed to throwing yourself off a very shallow hill.

The upper part of the screen being black in-atmosphere is...odd. I hope they can fix that; it's more than enough to counteract my interest in a toy-scale solar system.

Orbits are basically like that joke about the trick to flying being the ability to hurl oneself at the ground and somehow miss.
I really think a short series of this mod could have potential, like getting to all the system with the smallest spacecraft.

Watching this 2 days after ksp 2 finally came out JSUT to show you how long we been waiting
How small of a planet would you need for a kerbal to simply run on the surface, and reach escape velocity? (little prince effect essentially) Also, how would KSP treat the "large body in orbit around smaller body" issue, where you get chaotic orbital paths because of the mass being accelerated differently throughout the object?
It makes me think about the Spore planets.
the 2 comments I have about this mod from my experience.
1. The Munar surface is cool as hell. Jagged caverns, giant cliffs, craters 2km deep. The graphics are suddenly very pointy and edgy, but if you don't mind that, it really instills a sense of wonder.
2. Deadly reentry is not a good idea. reentry at all is not a good idea. don't use rockets if you plan on coming back. Because half the time, you will not live. If you absolutely have to, plan to land in the water, as the land is usually pretty high from sea level
will you be covering the star citizen patch that came out in October?

Finally, a solar system fit for my rocket-building skills.
Scott just leaves Jebediah to sink. Well, the capsule effectively became a submarine - Jeb probably wanted a change from space for once. There be krakens down there!
I heard him say "build up speed" and almost got ptsd of "watch for rolling rocks in 0.5 a presses".
... and it's 100% possible to take Kerbal X to the mun and back, did it ONCE, never figure out how to do it again, everytime short on fuel, sometimes can't even make orbit after land on mun, sometime stuck there, sometimes little bit short and end up with high earth periapsis.
Only thing I did manage to discover is that you wanna land "on the rear of the mun, facing Kerbin", so you just fire straight up home.

Problem: If the radius of a planet was 1/10 of the original, but the gravitational acceleration stays the same, how would the density increase?

the surface gravity is proportonal to M/r^2, to to remain the same the mass must decrease by a factor of 100, therefore the density is 10x the original

Also, I would like to note that the density would be about 6*10^5 kg m^-3 - approximately 2/3 the density of a super-massive black hole, which is 9*10^5 kg m^-3, according to Wikipedia.
