Wow! I have been looking for this recipe for ever... My mother made this for us when I was growing up and loved the way it tasted, She made the rolls using cheese cloth on top of the pot tide it with a rubber band while the water was boiling. This is one of many of my favorite Vietnamese food my mother would cook for me and my brother and sister and even my friends would not miss this for the world!

I love this recipe. Tried last year following your recipe. It was yummy. All the sudden, I wanted to eat this one again and had to search the recipe again and I realised that I am watching the same one I had watched before! Your recipe must be one of the best one. And so amazing that this was 7 years ago!?!? I wonder if you are still posting videos? Well, I will find it out. I love your video!
Also, thank you for adding 1L instead of 750ml. I tried this package before and it turned out terrible. With the water adjustment, they turned out much better.
I am so happy to find your channel Helen ! I am Chinese but love vietnamese food esp Banh Cuon! I always buy them from Vietnamese restaurant and they are not cheap here . I am def going to make this at home . Thanks !

Is this similar to banh beo? Our new neighbors are from Vietnam and just moved here almost two years ago. They make amazing Banh Xeo and Banh Beo. I can't wait to try this recipe!
I'm so happy I've found your videos!!! I've always wondered how the Viet restaurants make all these different foods. Even my own mom wouldn't go out of her way to make all these dishes homemade instead of just going to the restaurants. Now that i'm away from my family and authentic viet food, I crave it all so badly. Hopefully I'll be able to make it all myself by watching your videos
Helen my father loves your cooking channel. He wants me to marry a nice Vietnamese girl like you because you cook so well. They say the way to a mans heart is through his stomach. He he.
Subscribed! I love the format of this video, thanks for showing the portion how the banh cuon are made in vietnam!! Will try making this, looks simple!! OMG everything looks so yummy on your channel, I'm drooling over my keyboard LOLOLOL
ah I miss vietnam, I've ate bahn cuon with fried duck filling in hanoi and that is the yummiest bahn cuon I've ever tried. Maybe I'll try to make it by my self :D
300 ml of water with 5 spoon of fish sauce, 4 cup coffee spoon sugar and 2 spoon virgir , and add one lemond on. Stir them together , you can extra hot sauce or garlic on that more delicous. Just taste it when you feel the taste like restaurent that you came before. Or another way especally than you can buy rib pork and cook them with the water and fish sauce in about 6 hours low flame aftter that you will have perfect sauce as natural sweet. that is it.
Can you please include how to make the mung bean cake that is usually presented with this dish? It's my favorite part of the meal and I would love to learn how to make it.
unfortunately i dont think i have the patience >< but i think im gonna try to find this at some of the viet places in my city because im very interested in trying this lol
Helen, how do we tie the cloth on the steamer if we want to do it the traditionalway? I find it tastes better if steamed, and not using skillet. Can you please respobd. Thanks!
nrhiavkojxwb It's better to buy a banh cuon steaming pot in Vietnam (if you live overseas, maybe ask someone buy it for you). Most attempts to tie the cloth on the steamer oneself fail.
Hi Helen. I followed all your steps, heating the pan with medium heat and letting it steam for about a 1 min but my wraps end up really bad. It's hard to fold in and it always break. I use the same measurement as you but it still doesnt work out. Do you have any idea what i possibly done wrong?
My mom showed me to put white sugar in a saucepan, melt it on medium high until it's liquefied and caramelized, almost thick, like honey, then add water, bring to boil until sugar is completely dissolved. Then add the rest of your ingredients. I hope this helps enjoy
