Turkish company unveils $23 dollar cement plant in Cameroon's Douala

  • As more and more multinationals increase their exposure to Africa's fast growing building and infrastructure sector, Medcem, which is controlled by the Turkish group - Eren Holdings, has unveiled a new 13 billion US dollar cement plant in Douala, Cameroon.The Turkish cement factory is expected to produce 600,000 tons of cement, annually. Once operational, it will raise the country's annual cement output to roughly 4.3 million tons, per year. Medcem Cameroon is the 3rd cement company to launch its activities in the West African country in the last 3 years. Cameroon has a GDP of $ 32.5 B US dollars and an estimated growth rate of 5.5% this year.

    how much of this investment went to black african companys,foreign investment doesnt mean anything if locals arent benefiting from it

      Felix A Usually with Turkey both sides win unlike Chines who bring their own workers and take expensive resources in exchange for infrastructure
