I bought some candles at the Dollar Tree for an Art Abandonment project and now I have the perfect ideas to use on them 😃. Thank you for another excellent, entertaining, and informative tutorial! So my candle initially dried down beautifully, but then after a couple of days the alcohol ink no longer laid flat on the candle but there were these lumpy bumps underneath the paint's surface. Have you ever encountered this problem and know how to fix it?
Wow - that's odd. I've never heard of that. I wouldn't have a clue how to fix that - it sounds like a one-off. I used Ranger and a couple other brands of AIs on my candles and didn't run into issues on any of them. Could the candles be old? Could the AIs be old? Neither should matter, but I don't know what else would explain that. (And whenever something weird like that happens I tend to blame the products and not myself!) I really wish I could be more help, but I just don't know. I'm sorry you ran into issues. Try again - but switch out to different candles or inks and see if you might get different results.
I'm so sorry - I just now saw your question. Nothing like a reply...a year later! I apologize. If I am going to burn the candle then I do not apply a sealer. I'm not sure if it could possibly catch fire. If I am not going to burn it, I do apply a spray sealer. The spray sealers are flammable, which is why I don't apply one if I'm going to burn the candle. I'm not sure if you would get enough sealer on it to actually be an issue. I'm sorry I don't have that information. Thank you for the question!
