Actually this song is about suicide, the line that you quoted is actually talking about a past girlfriend who walked into the ocean and killed her self, and he's singing about that flow of emotion made him feel how it was like perfect darkness. Still a good song but the main undertone of the song is about dealing with a suicide.
My interpretation was an introvert telling himself how to overcome anxiety in social places, or in a world where he there was a guy who never knew how to have fun with people :)

Back at my house, I put the CD in my Hi-fi, and what, it wasn't rap music but it was very good and moving. No regrets 👌 I don't know why it was in the rap category but no regrets, it's very good music. Supports from France 😀
Fink takes me back to one of the most profound times in my life. I was listening to them all night one night while anxious about a possible life altering event the next day. It got me through the night n now when i hear them, im back in that time. Its good tho it worked out so its almost a fond memory.

Fink is from another category of artists. Intimistic, deep, enveloping, it goes deep inside you like "that water". I am amazed that none of the people around me and friends, know them, in general, is semi-unknown, at least in Italy. Unfortunately, the musical ignorance that now reigns, the lack of curiosity towards new genres / groups / artists, is disconcerting. For me, the Finks are indispensable. When I paint especially.
