Alan is honestly my favorite television bully of all time. Usually I hate bullies in real life, and in TV, as I have been bullied continuously through middle school, and they made my middle school life a living hell, but for Alan, he is a really in-depth character, who is more 3-dimensional than we thought. I loved the way he opened up to Bill in that coma, and you just hate seeing him not even go to the sci-fi convention with them. This entire scene right here is both touching, and sad. The last scene makes you even more sad, wishing that he would join them, but instead rides off, and says, "I just can't do it" for a few reasons of his own. I really wish that his character could have been shown more. His character as a bully, was so rare, and it's even more sad to realize that the series ended, without knowing if their beef got squashed, in the future, and if they ever became friends again. I would have liked to have seen that, but then again, when he rode off on his bike, it reminds me of how realistic the show is, and how nothing is cliché in the series. 😓😓
*LOL and the 😓 is for the situation, not for the show not being cliché. I love that the show is not cliché. I am sad about the entire Alan situation with the geeks.

What this shows is how the politics of highschool (and adolescents as a whole) gets in the way of who we really are and who we can become. When you're a kid who you like and want to be around is simply based on who makes you laugh and smile. You aren't looking at their skin color, their clothing, their social or economic rank. Same goes for who you like of the opposite sex. You don't care what part of town they come from. But then politics comes into the picture. Who you're supposed to be and who you're supposed to be seen with and not seen with. Alan wasn't a cool kid, but he certainly wasn't built like a geek. For him to embrace them and his real interests in sci-fi would be to risk the little social stock he had over the geeks. He didn't have that clout to do and go where he wanted. Daniel, on the otherhand, did have that clout as a cool stoner who got laid. He could afford to play AD&D. This is really a moment in time. Now being a dork is cool. lol. Black, white, male, female - you can be into anime, computers, rock music, rap music, sports. Anything goes.
Alan’s speech was powerful. He wasn’t looking for excuses, he really envied the bond between the geeks and just wanted to fit in with someone. When have you ever seen him actually hang out with anyone besides those two random guys on Halloween?
It shows that his treatment of them actually stems from jealousy. They get bullied, but they're happy and themselves and have genuine friends. And he's just stuck alone in a box not allowed to be himself

That “I just can’t” at the end hits me hard. There’s people I want to text so badly and hang out with them, but they were so quick to drop me and just stop talking to me when I was going through stuff and sort of stopped texting them first to hang out and I just can’t muster up the strength to look past it and hang out. Now I’m lonely with no friends looking back at the “good times” I thought me and my “friends” were having and just think to myself “were any of those memories real or was I so in my own head I didn’t realize no one else was having the same fun” I know this might go past this scene and it has to do with a bully, but him just not being able to hang out with someone no matter how you feel, I relate to.
That's sad, it took till I was grown before I didn't care what others think. It became a lot easier to tell people that I love them once you are not worried about your image.

I really wish there was more seasons of this. Alan represents people who follow the in crowd, people who are afraid to show who they really are because they find it easier to stick with more popular subjects to be more well liked amongst peers. Alan could've been one of the best redeemed antagonist in any type of media but they threw it away.
Perfect example at the end of the fact that no matter how much mercy or grace you offer to someone who harms you, they can't forgive themselves (or in some cases get over themselves)
ainno damn way bro took getting rejected from shooting rockets THAT personally. I would understand having a grudge on them, and bullying them cuz it makes you "feel better", but putting peanuts into a guys sandwich when he LITERALLY shared a whole story about going to the hospital just from eating one is absolutely insane.
As someone who has severe peanut allergy, that's attempted murder. IDC if you thought it was a "joke", you purposely did it knowing I was allergic. If man wants to make friends, he can make em in prison cause aint no way I'd let that slide.
This stuff happened to me when I was a kid, and my dad put me in bjj and boxing during the summer. The first day of school the next year they started in on me again, and I took him down and snapped his arm. I didn’t get fucked with after that. Violence DOES in fact solve things when no other option works.
I don’t know, I got detention whenever I stood up for myself. It was always all the other kids’ stories versus just mine. So the principal would always side with the other kids as they’d say I just hit them without being provoked. Now, I don’t go to anyone about anything.
2:27 this is pretty dang accurate. I had this girl all throughout Elementary school that I barely talked to bjt every time she saw me she was mean to me and I found out in 6th grade it was because in kindergarten i called her a jerk 😂😂
2:12 I don’t understand how and why that person isn’t in jail and why is that very kid with the victim that he targeted and you don’t call him a bully you would call him a murder because he intentionally tried to kill him this would’ve been a second degree murder he should’ve been in prison for life this movie doesn’t make sense
Who's gonna lecture Alan about allergies? Maybe bills mom... cal harding? Bill after waking up.? Someone gotta give him some lessons on not making fun of people with those allergies because they may die.
What's missing in this video is that Alan's dad was the one who brought him to the hospital and did so twice: once to apologize to Bill's Mom and after Bill woke up to apologize to him too. He was NOT happy with Alan and had to give him an extra push to go and apologize once Bill woke up.
This reminds me that I wish I hadn’t been so focused on “being cool” and just enjoyed the people I had In my life instead of putting them through my bullshit
This is a great example of how a joke can literally hurt someone.
Well putting peanuts into someone’s sandwich isn’t just a “joke” it’s more of a “prank”. Jokes are usually told verbally

Alan represents people who follow the in crowd, people who are afraid to show who they really are because they find it easier to stick with more popular subjects to be more well liked amongst peers. Alan could've been one of the best redeemed antagonist in any type of media but they threw it away.
i remember this episode came out the night before 9/11
@NewWaveFreak 1988 reruns of the show could be possible tho
Show ended a year before 9/11 even happend, so clearly you don't remeber it that well.
In reruns possibly. Initial run ended in 2000
“Hey it’s ok, just don’t do it again or I could die.” 😂😢
It’s not “goofy” it’s called “ATTEMPTED MURDER”
I fucking loved this show
“That 70s show” took over and wasn’t nearly as realistic as this one.
“It’s just a prank bro”
The prank:
I’m deadly allergic. This fucking happened to me.
Alan was lucky the parents didn’t put charges against him
Me when someone’s dying just don’t die 😂😂
My name is Allan and I was bullied once. By Alan Heyman, ironically. It was nuts.
Once again I watch and get interested in a scene only to find out this series was on like 20 years ago.
I don't know why it didn't last long.
I remember when this show came out, it was always in a weird time slot. Back then time slot was everything.
Greatest fucking show of all time. We were screwed over by never getting a 2nd season
Definition of “I have no enemies”
Question is, why was that kid not in jail?
Perfect example at the end of the fact that no matter how much mercy or grace you offer to someone who harms you, they can't forgive themselves (or in some cases get over themselves)
Crazzzzyyyy how ppl aways try to make them seem innocent
ainno damn way bro took getting rejected from shooting rockets THAT personally. I would understand having a grudge on them, and bullying them cuz it makes you "feel better", but putting peanuts into a guys sandwich when he LITERALLY shared a whole story about going to the hospital just from eating one is absolutely insane.
Bully looks like steve-o
I've been looking for this comment
Will never get over this or firefly's cancelation
3:25 bro💀. My dirty mind activated…I’m so sorry guys😔
As someone who has severe peanut allergy, that's attempted murder. IDC if you thought it was a "joke", you purposely did it knowing I was allergic. If man wants to make friends, he can make em in prison cause aint no way I'd let that slide.
Ok
Show is called freaks and geeks
This stuff happened to me when I was a kid, and my dad put me in bjj and boxing during the summer. The first day of school the next year they started in on me again, and I took him down and snapped his arm. I didn’t get fucked with after that.
Violence DOES in fact solve things when no other option works.
I don’t know, I got detention whenever I stood up for myself. It was always all the other kids’ stories versus just mine. So the principal would always side with the other kids as they’d say I just hit them without being provoked.
Now, I don’t go to anyone about anything.
@@itsthemumu8585too accurate
Alan would have made a great part of the team if they continued the show.
This show man
I’m also allergic to peanuts and this is literally my worst fear
This is healing until the end.... so many missed this point, if only people could just let go and be who they wanted.
All these years I never realized or noticed Alan is Michael "Squints" Palledorous (The Sandlot) lmaoo💀
he almost did it...makes me sad that he didn't go but this is what teenagers think.
2:27 this is pretty dang accurate. I had this girl all throughout Elementary school that I barely talked to bjt every time she saw me she was mean to me and I found out in 6th grade it was because in kindergarten i called her a jerk 😂😂
TH-camd this scene after being triggered by the shorts, glad I did, wasn’t expecting this wholesome resolution
I am tearing up so bad watching this🥲
2:12 I don’t understand how and why that person isn’t in jail and why is that very kid with the victim that he targeted and you don’t call him a bully you would call him a murder because he intentionally tried to kill him this would’ve been a second degree murder he should’ve been in prison for life this movie doesn’t make sense
My brain be hurting
If you put my kid in the hospital, you're going too.
Kid or not.
This was such a great part 😢😢😢😢😢
He is definitely a secret angel 😊❤❤❤❤
2:20 bro mad because he said no in 4th grade…l
This reminds me that I wish I hadn’t been so focused on “being cool” and just enjoyed the people I had In my life instead of putting them through my bullshit
