    So the thing that the blade rotates on is Spyderco's pivot bushing, which debuted on this model. The pivot bushing allows the pivot to be tight, and yet also allows friction free movement. It is one of my favorite things to see on a compression lock knife, and the only other spyderco that has it is the Sage 5 LW.

      Thanks! It’s a great action for sure, as is the Sage LW.

      The bushing you are talking about isn’t debuted in this knife but originally comes from the pm2. People complained about the action on this knife in comparison to the pm2 that is why spyderco put in the bushing of the pm2 for the cqi version.

    I just recently purchased the Kapara. I have to say it's became my favorite to carry. The carbon fiber and wire clip make it easy to go in and out of my pocket. It's super slicey and tough enough to handle just about everyones edc needs

    Great video. I have been looking for a descent gentleman's knife and this may be it. I dont ever see knife reviewers display the detent of the blade not just the visual strength but also closing the blade until the point which the blade closes itself and nestles into its rested position. It would be a welcome addition for those of us that dont get the chance to handle these knives. Cant wait to see the future reviews.

    I keep wanting to pull the trigger on this one. But here it is two years later the price is now an average of Two Hundred Forty / Fifty bucks and its still just S30V. If Spyderco ever did a blade steel upgrade and didn't skyrocket the price, I would be all over it. Great Video on a very solid knife.

    I appreciate the time stamps on the description. I would definitely like to check this one out eventually. I think this knife would have been more of a win if they used LC200N. The blade shape on the spydie chef is just so untraditional for a lot of people. I think LC200N would have helped make it a little more interesting at that $200 mark. Plus right now many of the LC200N models aren’t very classy looking. I know some people consider the spydie chef to be that one knife to rule them all but if the kapara was totally rust resistant I think it could surpass the chef due to the blade shape being more oriented for edc than the chef (in my opinion).

    Triad lock, best locking mechanism out there. I find on the completion lock you can force the knife open with simple thrusting motion, mot good for legal reasons, another complaint as you mentio n in your video, example the Shaman and the amalgam where the flipper tab hits your finger when closing. The only knife with compression lock where it appears Paul Alexander has resolved is the sliveraxe and unfortunately several videos I watched the removed the flipper tab. I'm not a fan of redesigning a designers product especially in the sliveraxe case Mr Alexander has resolved

    Thank you for a reviewing gears in a clear and organized manner. Yours is one of my favorite format.
    I am wondering would it possible to turn the music a bit lower. That may be just a personal taste though.

    My favorite lock is the Axis lock myself. It's weird because I prefer Spyderco's in general because I like the hole over the thumb stud but I don't really like compression locks as much as other locks. I would rather have a lock back than a compression lock. So if Spyderco ever makes a Para 2 with a Axis lock and LC200N I would be in knife heaven.

      idk if you know but the Benchmade 550-1 has the circular thumb opening hole similar to that in spyderco folders. They licensed it from Spyderco for the 550 line, the base 550 uses S30V while the 550-1 uses 20CV which is stupid corrosive resistance for normal use, granted LC200N is rustproof but if you dont need absolute saltwater resistance maybe check out the 550-1.

    Kapara or Carribean if you could have only one folder? If none, then which folder is the best, for general use? Thanks in advance. PS Kapara looks way too beatiful on this video!! I shouldn't have watched this video.. It makes me bias to the Kapara. Please help!! this, or any other?

    • @ThePocketPerspective
      @ThePocketPerspective  3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      One knife to rule them all is difficult. I do like the Caribbean as well. LC200N is a great steel and would be a good choice if you could only have one. If I could only pick between the Kapara and Caribbean it would probably be the Caribbean. My favorite Spyderco changes quite a bit but I usually come back to the ParaMilitary 2.
