Man I would have killed for these stamp buffs for persona 3's Tarturus. Anyone who complains about Mementoes ought to experience the grindfest of Tarturus just for perspective.
I actually enjoyed Tartarus a lot more than Mementos. Mementos to me is lot more bland, even if it looks interesting when you first see it. And after you discover Monat level grind just dissapear. Money isn't really a big problem in Persona 3. I actually ran out of money only in the end, when I was focused on fusing unltimate personas for each social link I obtained.

Of course you can opt to ignore leveling certain party members but for my first playthrough I wanted every member to be optimised just in case. My playthrough of P3 FES ended up longer than my first P5 playthrough purely because of how long I spent in Tarturus. Not to mention some of Elizabeth's requests that require good rng drops that can require farming.

I mean, most of the players will just ignore other party members because they become useless pretty quickly and you can get only so much people in your team. I can see playthrough being extremely long and tedious this way. Elisabeth's requests weren't that big of an issue for me, but they can be really frustrating if you aren't lucky enough (espresso quests with golden shadows and items to obtain, they can be a real pain in the ass).
I would have mentioned two other changes: you can now actually Rush in Mementos (same as in palaces), and Ryuji's social link istakill only works while rushing rather than while ambushing.
My first thought when I saw the title was "Well, Duh, Mementos changes, it's randomly generated." Took me a second to stop being stupid. Also, for that extra stamp that spawns on a random floor in each area, where does it actually spawn? Near the entrance, or somewhere in the level, or something? If it's randomly hidden away in a random level, it's gonna be a pain in the ass to 100% them.
Some Guy from what I’ve experienced it seems like it’s random. I just travelled through the particular portion of Mementos until I got them all. Somewhat of a grind, but hopefully that answers this question.
Yeah it's a real pain, I don't know if there is some kind of trick but when I have to take the last one on the floors with many stamps it's a long fucking search
Collecting pretty flowers in Mementos seems a bit odd at first, but actually fits pretty well when you start to think about it. It reminded me of Yusuke’s final draft of his desire painting, representing the evil and beauty of the human heart. That is perfect for Mementos!
With each of these videos I am getting more and more excited for it to release. I'm glad to see so many great improvements to pretty much every aspect of the game, and your coverage of it is excellent. Right to the point, answers all the important questions, couldn't ask for a better breakdown video. One unrelated thing I was very happy to see in this was the change to Ryuji's Insta-Kill perk, not only is it less intrusive but also provides all the benefits of actually battling, so now it strictly cuts down on grinding instead of preventing you from ambushing. Seems like Royal will be a much better experience all round, can't wait!
It won't happen.. Its Atlus they don't have the time , budget , and manpower to do remake.. After royal and scrumble.. They are now focusing on persona 6 obviously.. This is my personal Theory persona 6 will be base on ps4 hardware after 3 years they will release golden or Royal edition on huge graphical upgrade ps5 .. People will still buy the game it was already proven two previous generation already..hehe.. Easy money for atlus .. I wish sony will buy atlus studio to give them a proper budget.. And make persona series a stable exclusive for sony under jrpg genre..
I never felt the need to grind in the original game. I mean to do goofy OP stuff in NG+ I get it but otherwise it never felt necessary. The changes to mementos look cool, I was hoping for more changes regarding its design but I guess just the music change and all the other changes should be enough as is.
and im pretty sure they did some graphical upgrades to make it more sharp to suit ps4 they changed a bunch of sprites and lines and added more events and personas and such it seems pretty worthy of its own game to me also it may be impossible to make some of this stuff dlc
kinda glad grinding isn't going to be a problem in P5R. I did my first playthrough of P5 and finished at lv82 and I didn't really care for waiting until November in NG+ to cheese the Reaper and get to 99 (And it took half the fun out of fighting after Sae's palace. I was walking into ambushes after that.) Stamp system is nice, reminds me of old train tickets and it promises to be useful :)

I also have an unrelated question if you wouldn't mind answering (if you know anything about it): How PS4 Pro enhanced is Royal? I know it's 4K if you have a pro but is that the extent of it? Did you play on a Pro or base? I only have a base and don't want to wait until PS5 to play Royal just for 4K. I think it will look fine on base (Has to look better than vanilla P5). Any thoughts?

Don't think they've changed all that much. You now get higher Personas at Twins Rank 5 and Baton Pass is no longer a Confidant ability, but that seems to be it. Also, you now get the speed reading book a lot sooner and you're not as restricted in the opening hours of the game.
I pronounced his name the way it's pronounced in Japanese and in the Western release of the game. Japan pronounces Jose (when referencing the Spanish name) like it's supposed to be pronounced; but with Jose in P5R they deliberate do not.
The Deviation system is also a good money maker. Its RNG based, but certain ones such as darkness or enraged enemies are great for getting loads of cash or xp when paired with stuff like Ryuji's instakill. I was able to pretty quickly get to max level and money by maxing out Jose's xp and money gains, and getting a floor with glowing red enraged enemies. I ran around instakilling them for bout 15-30 minutes and got up a good 30 or 40 levels and to max money.
One things that happens me, I was playing my +new game and I was in Mementos. And in some level, randomly the level starts to produce a red aura, and the enemies were just the demon treasure. And, suddenly appears the Reaper (imposible because I wasnt there for so long time). I didn't have this random happens in my whole first Gameplay. I know for example when in a level all is gets dark and you can fight with the demon treasure, but lol, the Reaper was my first time that I saw him. This game has a lot of random events that you maybe haven't seen in your first Gameplay. Other things that happens in my second gameplay was a shadow who tried to escape from me hen I was in a negotiation. Lol
That special floor can happen in the vanilla P5 as well and can happen on your first playthrough of P5R as well; it's just very rare. And yes, on a Treasure Demon-only floor the Reaper will spawn significantly more quickly.

Most of the party social link perks are identical (aside from Baton Pass now being baseline). The only notable changes are Haru growing up Charge/Conc vegetables (doesn't require ranks), and Ryuji's istakill actually giving exp/items/gold.

Yeah, pretty much, except you don't have to take away from one aspect to boost the other. It's still locked behind story progression for the most part.
It is a lot, but there were also some fundamental things about the original P5 that were changed rather than added upon. so in a sense, you can think of it as a separate experience :) Also, I hope you have lots of fun with the game when you get it!
Woah there, if you get the Special Treatment, one of the most useful perks, that early in the Strength Confidant, what do they offer at the max rank?! That makes me hyped! Also, what are those Will Stone thingies? How to get them, do they combine in the accessory with a skill? Also, are those skills from accessories affected by the Divine Grace, Arms Master, Spell Master, etc. passive skill buffs? And at what point of the game do you collect enough stamps to max out one of the Mementos Changes? How long does it take to collect 50 points to max out Money boost, for example? How many points a single stamp stand provides? Thanks you for your videos!!! I've never been that hyped for the P5R till TH-cam recommended your vids to me. That deep game mechanics analysis makes my head boil with questions how to make of all that efficiently work on me as soon in the game as possible.
So guys highly highly recommend early on in the game to max out ryuji social link to at least rank 7 as that is where you will unlock the instant kill ability and try to find the stamps. And like in the video increase money first but one question I got is does the rank 5 for the wardens automatically reached or you have to unlock by specific conditions?
For the twins you still have to fuse specific Persona but it's a bit easier this time since they give you a lot of the skills you need via Skill Cards if you do their date events.
Yeah we know we can use Jose for upgrades but that tells us nothing on how to make money. Is there anything to do after you give stamps to Jose or am I just supposed to wander around fighting enemies? The confuse method could max your money in a couple hours or less depending on your stats. This doesn't sound like a quick way at all compared to that.
Yes you still have to fight enemies, the difference is you will get more exp, $$ and treasure items to sell from jusy going through mementos like you normally would for missions rather than having to grind for hours using confuse. I was skeptical myself but im in the 3rd palace and had 5 targets so I said fuck it lets go, ended up coming out with like 400k yen from just a normal mementos mission run and ive only got 20% in money
The confuse method is very inefficient because most of the Mementos bosses are now immune so you have to use it on regular enemies. It also now only lasts 1 turn and breaks on damage.
Great video man. I was curious if you were going to do a video on what carries over to New Game Plus. I'm on the 4th palace right now and I'm want to know if I should be using all my skill cards before I reach the end if they don't transfer over
I haven't done a dedicated video on what carries over but I've mentioned a few things in my other videos such as any stats gained via the Jazz Club, as well as skills learned there (though they need to be relearned via the Church confessional on NG+). Stamps also carry over. Everything else is the same as the original game: money, equipment, items, etc.
I'd advise against turning the stamps/flowers in. It completely breaks the balance of the game, which kinda ruined my first playthrough of Royal. I'm at my second one now, and it's much better thanks to me ignoring Jose.
I downloaded the free DLC that gives skins and items that you had to pay for in the original games DLC. It's a freaking lifesaver because I just have the 15% Exp accessory on and by the second palace I'm one shooting minibosses with Kaguya. The less grinding I've needed to do has really opened up time to work on Confidant Grinding

I'm just going to go and admit this here. When I first played Persona 5, I didn't know that you use the compendium to get Persona's back until near the end of the 7th palace.
How do you get into mementos in persona 5 the vanilla version I have already gotten in there via story but on those free days how do you get into mementos then I know there's a way to do it I just forgot how because I took a break from the game out of frustration of one boss fight
So I have yet to find an answer for this but regarding the Persona dlc for the original persona 5 are they aqquired in the same way ingame or are they now in the fusion pool? IE kaguya and kaguya picaro.

To my understanding, that hasn't changed but the social stat gain as been reworked across the board and there's even more stuff to do to gain it, so it might not be as hard to reach.

As far as I know notification bells should be activated by default for subscribers and are turned off/on by the user and not the broadcaster. At the very least, I wasn't able to find any setting for turning it off/on.
Are they making (again) new ver. game easier than basic one, there are things I like P4G but then there's changes I didn't really like, like all boss nerfs.
Bosses and enemies where buffed overall in general, but the player also has access to more tools than before. New players will probably find Royal more difficult while veterans will probably find it easier; of at least veterans who took the time to understand technical damage.
It's still better than the original Persona 5. Atlus wanted to make the Reaper feel like a boss so they decided to remove the despair mechanic from the Reaper in Royal. Plus, Mementos in Royal is so much better
Uh, no. There is far less grinding actually. You can play the game from start to finish, never making time to grind, and have more money than you know what to do with and be level 99 before the end of the game.
The only issue I see with the upgrades to Mementos is the flower counter looks a bit weird to me, probably just got used to it not being there though The upgrades here are all excellent, excited to see it more fleshed out in an experience Although, one critism of the video, confusion and reaper farming would still be used if this system and those were both available. It'd make them even more OP xD I do get what you mean though, between them the new system is a better option
Honestly even if Reaper glitch was still a thing, this is still faster due to how quickly you clear up floors compared to having to wait for a specific day, wait 5 min afk on a floor, and then keep running until it gets despair.
@@jorjorbanks8876 The primary reason is that Ryuji doesn't gain access to any abilities that have a high critical chance whereas Kasumi starts with Sword Dance and Apt Pupil. She also has overall higher stats than him except for defense; she has particularly high attack, speed, and luck. She also gains a unique buff that increases the party's critical rate. With all the balance changes making for far more enemies with no weaknesses, having someone who can reliably get a critical hit is fantastic. She can also gain access Charge via an accessory, too.
As far as I knew, it was a problem when ryugi gave you that perk because ambushing enemies didn't gave you money nor experience, so now to activate it you have to ambus the enemy while running probably whith the R2 button if you ambush them without pressing it, the battle will start normally.
@@itarokiurochi6006 oh it's like the resume of when you win a battle it shows how many experience you got from the ambush, if you got an item, money, if you got a persona and if a memeber leveled up it will be displayed in that menu
Official name and pronunciation is ジョゼ (jo-ze when written in roman characters), hence my pronunciation of his name. I believe the Western release is using this pronunciation as well. The Japanese do also pronounce José' as "hou-ze" yet for Jose this was deliberately not the case.

all accessories are now in a way usefull, they give skills, stats and other stuff
An endgame item you get gives you an 8% HP/SP restoration after battle, plus an attack that downs all enemies during an ambush. Game changer in NG+

I know for example when in a level all is gets dark and you can fight with the demon treasure, but lol, the Reaper was my first time that I saw him.
This game has a lot of random events that you maybe haven't seen in your first Gameplay. Other things that happens in my second gameplay was a shadow who tried to escape from me hen I was in a negotiation. Lol
That special floor can happen in the vanilla P5 as well and can happen on your first playthrough of P5R as well; it's just very rare. And yes, on a Treasure Demon-only floor the Reaper will spawn significantly more quickly.

I think Haru benefits Royal bc of the third semester. You now have more opportunities for her to grow items

Most of the party social link perks are identical (aside from Baton Pass now being baseline). The only notable changes are Haru growing up Charge/Conc vegetables (doesn't require ranks), and Ryuji's istakill actually giving exp/items/gold.

As someone who has never played the original Persona 5 I’m excited but also kinda worried I’ll be overwhelmed by all the stuff added to Royal.
It is a lot, but there were also some fundamental things about the original P5 that were changed rather than added upon. so in a sense, you can think of it as a separate experience :)

Woah there, if you get the Special Treatment, one of the most useful perks, that early in the Strength Confidant, what do they offer at the max rank?! That makes me hyped!
Also, what are those Will Stone thingies? How to get them, do they combine in the accessory with a skill? Also, are those skills from accessories affected by the Divine Grace, Arms Master, Spell Master, etc. passive skill buffs?
And at what point of the game do you collect enough stamps to max out one of the Mementos Changes? How long does it take to collect 50 points to max out Money boost, for example? How many points a single stamp stand provides?

Basically if you get 3 will stones it makes an accessory if unique abilities. Like Shido palace, when upgraded let's you use charge in anyone

So guys highly highly recommend early on in the game to max out ryuji social link to at least rank 7 as that is where you will unlock the instant kill ability and try to find the stamps. And like in the video increase money first but one question I got is does the rank 5 for the wardens automatically reached or you have to unlock by specific conditions?
You can finish Ryuji in the earliest by the 3rd palace. Since Rank 7 requires a specific date at night.
I assume it's going to be the same as the original, where you have to fuse specific Persona with specific skills.
@@Some__Guy Yup the conditions and the responses are almost the same but added the phone convos for maximum bonding points
For the twins you still have to fuse specific Persona but it's a bit easier this time since they give you a lot of the skills you need via Skill Cards if you do their date events.

Yeah we know we can use Jose for upgrades but that tells us nothing on how to make money. Is there anything to do after you give stamps to Jose or am I just supposed to wander around fighting enemies? The confuse method could max your money in a couple hours or less depending on your stats. This doesn't sound like a quick way at all compared to that.
Yes you still have to fight enemies, the difference is you will get more exp, $$ and treasure items to sell from jusy going through mementos like you normally would for missions rather than having to grind for hours using confuse. I was skeptical myself but im in the 3rd palace and had 5 targets so I said fuck it lets go, ended up coming out with like 400k yen from just a normal mementos mission run and ive only got 20% in money
The confuse method is very inefficient because most of the Mementos bosses are now immune so you have to use it on regular enemies. It also now only lasts 1 turn and breaks on damage.

Great video man. I was curious if you were going to do a video on what carries over to New Game Plus. I'm on the 4th palace right now and I'm want to know if I should be using all my skill cards before I reach the end if they don't transfer over
I haven't done a dedicated video on what carries over but I've mentioned a few things in my other videos such as any stats gained via the Jazz Club, as well as skills learned there (though they need to be relearned via the Church confessional on NG+). Stamps also carry over. Everything else is the same as the original game: money, equipment, items, etc.
Jose is a cute little name for our Egg Child but his name should've been Benedict, or at least Jòse
I'd advise against turning the stamps/flowers in. It completely breaks the balance of the game, which kinda ruined my first playthrough of Royal.
I'm at my second one now, and it's much better thanks to me ignoring Jose.

I downloaded the free DLC that gives skins and items that you had to pay for in the original games DLC. It's a freaking lifesaver because I just have the 15% Exp accessory on and by the second palace I'm one shooting minibosses with Kaguya. The less grinding I've needed to do has really opened up time to work on Confidant Grinding

The upgrades reset but you keep your stamps. You simply need to find Jose again to redistribute them. I did mention this in the video btw :P

How do you get into mementos in persona 5 the vanilla version I have already gotten in there via story but on those free days how do you get into mementos then I know there's a way to do it I just forgot how because I took a break from the game out of frustration of one boss fight

To my understanding, that hasn't changed but the social stat gain as been reworked across the board and there's even more stuff to do to gain it, so it might not be as hard to reach.

You can max out money, xp, and items in one playthrough.

As far as I know notification bells should be activated by default for subscribers and are turned off/on by the user and not the broadcaster. At the very least, I wasn't able to find any setting for turning it off/on.
Are they making (again) new ver. game easier than basic one, there are things I like P4G but then there's changes I didn't really like, like all boss nerfs.
Bosses and enemies where buffed overall in general, but the player also has access to more tools than before. New players will probably find Royal more difficult while veterans will probably find it easier; of at least veterans who took the time to understand technical damage.

It's still better than the original Persona 5. Atlus wanted to make the Reaper feel like a boss so they decided to remove the despair mechanic from the Reaper in Royal. Plus, Mementos in Royal is so much better
Uh, no. There is far less grinding actually. You can play the game from start to finish, never making time to grind, and have more money than you know what to do with and be level 99 before the end of the game.
The only issue I see with the upgrades to Mementos is the flower counter looks a bit weird to me, probably just got used to it not being there though
The upgrades here are all excellent, excited to see it more fleshed out in an experience
Although, one critism of the video, confusion and reaper farming would still be used if this system and those were both available. It'd make them even more OP xD

Honestly even if Reaper glitch was still a thing, this is still faster due to how quickly you clear up floors compared to having to wait for a specific day, wait 5 min afk on a floor, and then keep running until it gets despair.

In my opinion, Kasumi; and while some may disagree, I don't actually think it's close.

@@jorjorbanks8876 The primary reason is that Ryuji doesn't gain access to any abilities that have a high critical chance whereas Kasumi starts with Sword Dance and Apt Pupil. She also has overall higher stats than him except for defense; she has particularly high attack, speed, and luck. She also gains a unique buff that increases the party's critical rate. With all the balance changes making for far more enemies with no weaknesses, having someone who can reliably get a critical hit is fantastic. She can also gain access Charge via an accessory, too.
So theres not really an easy way to get op in ng plus?

I didn't understand the changes for the instant kill of ryuuji. Can someone explain it to me ?
As far as I knew, it was a problem when ryugi gave you that perk because ambushing enemies didn't gave you money nor experience, so now to activate it you have to ambus the enemy while running probably whith the R2 button if you ambush them without pressing it, the battle will start normally.

@@itarokiurochi6006 oh it's like the resume of when you win a battle it shows how many experience you got from the ambush, if you got an item, money, if you got a persona and if a memeber leveled up it will be displayed in that menu

José's name is in Spanish (he's named after one of the Three Tenors), it's pronounced "Hoh-SEH".
Official name and pronunciation is ジョゼ (jo-ze when written in roman characters), hence my pronunciation of his name. I believe the Western release is using this pronunciation as well.
The Japanese do also pronounce José' as "hou-ze" yet for Jose this was deliberately not the case.
I think his name is pronounced "Ho-say" like in Spanish
