Marine F-4J Radar tech who did the FIRST cruise on the brand new USS Nimitz (a Med 76-77) here RIP VMFA-333 😞 Thanks for keeping the dream alive, Greece
Those pilots and that location are insane! I had to rewind and see the first group a few times. The roll he does in that terrain is mind blowing. Nice to see the F4's are still performing at that high of level too. Thank you very much Elwyn. Cheers...
Awesome catches and edit! They offered some nice passes, always amazing to witness the F-4s on their natural habitat! Though i have a request to you and everyone that watches. Like the Mach Loop area in Uk, The Sidewinder in the US, i think it's time to make the place known with it's Greek names, Vouraikos Canyon at Kalavryta! Thanks for what you show us to your channel and the effort you make, every time!
What a venue: fantastic scenario w/ THE iconic fighter jets around. Thx for going there and putting it up on your channel. Very much appreciated, Elwyn 👍🏽
Great to see the F-4 still flying. I crewed the D & E models in the USAF. Two years at Holloman with the 49th TFW and one year at Osan with the 51st TFW Composite as we had OV-10's. 1975-1976 at Holloman. 1976-1977 at Osan. Got to go up in a D model while stationed at Holloman. Did 1.2 mach at 34k feet about 920 mph.
I've never seen them fly, they're were before my time, but man, that's one cool looking F-4 phantom makes me wanting to go to a local hobby store and get a model of that plane, very cool thanks for sharing.
I’ll never forget my first time getting strapped into a F-4c , it had 6 MiG red kill stars , of which 3 were on the same day, and 3 were the weekend after. I close my eyes and still see the cockpit, the smells and the leaks.
I flew F 4s in VietNam and we really used them. The only thing that was a problem with the L4 switch had a tendency to stick. The crew chief showed me the cure after complained to him about it about three times. He leaned into the cockpit while I was in the seat and he pointed to the L4 Switch. Here Captain lift that black cover and apply one squirt to the inside. It worked perfectly WD 40 to the rescue. L4 is also know as the Oh Shit switch. Nuff said.
say now Elwyn R - how about that @0:15 footage. From the inverted, dedicated fighter jet diving for the deck, NOT gently, shoving the stick over diving for the deck in that canyon. Fantastic footage. Like 👍
We really need to reduce the many different types of aircrafts we've got. We have Rafale, F16 block 70/72, Mirage 2000-5, Phantom RF4 with upgraded optics in 2003 and we now expect the F35. I think my country will focus on three main types. We upgrade internally, the first country in the world actually with the most advanced F16s (160 aircrafts), block 70/72 with AESA radars and other goodies which makes them Gen 4,5. We have the Rafale F3R (24), Gen 5 and the F35 (40), Gen 5. I think these 3 types will be enough. Along with the new helicopters, the most advanced ASW (MH60R) which already arrived in Greece, our modern Submarines Type 214 and the latest version of Torpedoes just received, the new Frigates and Corvettes which the first is already in the water for testing, the cheap but many OH58 Kiowa we've got along with our AH64D Apache, our NH90 for the special forces, Patriot PAC 3, S300, Spike NLOS missiles, while the aircrafts can fire Exocet block 3, SCALP, Meteor, Magic II, Amraam 120, Sidewinder, Super Matra 530D, boys, we'll be fine. Tanks-wise, Leopard 2A6, 2A4, 1A5, the new 1200 M1117 we've got, stingers launchers everywhere etc., boys, I'm fairly sure we'll be fine. Long Live Greece! 4500 years of recorded down history and counting! Proud to be Greek by birth and most importantly, spiritually, having received the Greek education, the Agoge.
I remember the RAF, back in the late 70s/early 80's, they had Hunters, Harriers, Phantoms, Bucaneers, Jaguars and the most awesome jet of all time, the Lightening. Airshows were fantastic back in those days but it must have been a logistics nightmare.
The landscape is amazing too! As for the F-4 Phantom, I've never understood why it is often said to be ugly. I've always thought it's a very good looking jet fighter. I would say it has a manly, even brutal, sort of beauty. (What is ugly, on the other hand, is the black smoke trail. 😅)
I probably helped build those F-4’s back in 1978 at McDonnell Douglas center section on top. F-4 ❤️ Worked F-18, AV8B, very little T-45 but most of my career was on the mighty F-15 ❤️ 33 years.
As a AMMO troop bomb builder (461 in the early days) for 24 years, (waisting years of my life waiting on loaders to come out of the shack, you know who you are) I didn’t realize how lucky I was to be working with such an iconic airframe. Still my favorite.
I am not sure of that , but I believe that these haf phantoms have been upgraded at least one time or maybe more times. There was an upgrade program in greek factories and one in israel. It can be that only the original engines , the frame and part of the hardware is still the same. For sure this is the reason why they are still flying. Maybe someone knows more about these upgrades. I remember I was a very small kid in the seventies when Greece took them and maybe they were already used when bought!
That's why I like flying with Greek airlines - many pilots were trained with the air force. I've also watched dog fights with the Turkish Nato brothers over the Aegean and would be delighted if these provocations became obsolete at some point. Stick together!
Brings back memories of working on Phantoms fifty plus years ago.
Cool 👌
Crazy to see them still operational

Couldn't agree more! Best pass I've seen in low level 👌
Was that a greek or French Rafale doing that crazy role.
Makes the UK Mach loop look like a kiddies version .. these pilots are doing some serious flying 👍
Plus it looks much warmer for spectating!
What a fab mix, really pleased to see the Phantom flying, a childhood favourite. Cheers Elwyn.
Glad you enjoyed it 👌
I'd be taking my deckchair and beer to sit and watch this all day long
Absolutely fantastic. The F4 is my favourite fighter, second only to the F14. Amazed they are still operational.
How are these F4’s still flying?!
I am the opposite i think f14 is number 1 then the phantom. I remember watching the f14s at our airshows and there insane.
Fabulous stuff as always. For me brought back memories from 1977 in the RAF seeing the Phantom (and Lighting) at RAF Coningsby. Many thanks!!!

The formation 2-ship Rafale's were quite nice. Spectacular scenery and aircraft.
Yes holding hands down the valley 🙌 👌
The old F4 is a beautiful aircraft even today. It always brought me home.
Should get some more next week 🤞
They’re upgraded F4s. F4 nose has IFF antennas & AGS pods for ground targeting & terrain tracking.
Dude your videos are so nice !! Believe me, you excite me every time !! Thank you !!
Glad you enjoy it! 😉 I think 😁

I did some jobs at Alconbury air base in the early 70's. Loved watching the Phantoms in action. Take offs at night on full after burners! Brilliant!
Very cool! 👌
These pilots must love it!
They give us a nice show.
Thank you for bringing it to us!
Always thank you to mechanics keeping them safe.
You can tell from a distanced when an F4 was inbound; those J79 turbojets were really smoky!
Love watching the Phantoms, lots of smoke and sound.

Many thanks 👌 I hope to get them online soon
Wow !!! Now that is a superb footage of the legacy F-4E Phantom through that nice valley , pretty rare to see them in action 😊
Glad you enjoyed it, I find myself very lucky indeed
@@ElwynR indeed enjoyable as the engines are the best sounding thing from an F-4E , cheers✨️😎
Glad you caught the Phantoms , myself was in Greece for Athens flying week, for the same reason to catch the Phantoms fly.
Yes I'm made up, cought them twice now 👌 really made up
Phantoms are so special!
Would watch them fly over from my backyard as a kid as they flew from Nellis to the range, the best memories!
Phantoms ! The old girls are still putting in the work.
Great camera work! 🎓👌✈️🇬🇷
Thanks for visiting 😊

What does it do?
The Hellenic Air Force keeps those F4's rolling along. Very nice.
Hell yes, Phantoms- I rest my case 👍👍👍👏👏👏🙂🙂🙂 Thanks Elwyn top stuff under difficult terrain
It's so cool to see them 👌 made up
Those F4's are smokin'!
The most brutal and handsome fighter jet ever created.
That's some seriously good camera work there.
Hat's off to you for a great job!
Thank you very much! 👍
What a badass fighter... definitely the GOAT..
Oh I remember that sound. Thanks!
Superb stuff, the Phantom is such a beast!
Yes it is 👌
those Gripen sound great
and one of those F4's is a serious chain smoker
The granddaddy of modern fighter jets, the Fabulous F-4 Phantom!

I needed that!
Agreed
Fantastic to watch. Hopefully, never used in war.
The F4 Phantom is my all time favorite fighter jet…
Keep an eye on my channel 👀 should have some more Phantoms 👻 in a couple of weeks 😉

Would be nice to see an old F-14 fly through...seems like we should have at least one still flyable for airshows
One mistake and your going straight to god. These pilots are mad.👍👍👍👏👏👏👏

That looks dangerous.
Much more so than that other famous loop .
One of those f4’s looked like the engines
Were running a little to much fuel through. Other one was burning clean. Awesome planes though love it.

Great footage...👍
Glad you enjoyed it 👌
I get chills when I see one. Had them on the Nimitz 75-77
Hope to catch some F4s next week 🙏
The phantom is a beautiful fighter plane
It was the main fighter jet of the USA in Vietnam War.
Yes, the USA retired them 3 or 4 years ago
My dad says that many or most of the US F-4s ended up in the ocean near Florida after being used as remotely piloted target drones.
@BradiKal61 If they did that it would pollute the ocean.
Awesome 👍✈️
Awesome footage.
Thank you very much!
Though it's been outperformed for s long time, I always thought phamtoms where one of the coolest looking fighters. They just look tough.
Kicking ass and talking names for 60 plus years, the F-4 Phantom.
greek pilots are crazy!!!!!!! respect!!!!!
I loved being a Phantom Phixer.
Awesome!
Thank you! Cheers!

Nothing in Nato can keep up with the F4 except for the F15
Really a shame the Tomcat couldn't stay around long enough in Navy service to get modern resolution footage of it in the Loop like this.
Oil and filter change for the Phantom. 😅
I love the smoke 👌😁
Awesome
Wild Weasels are still a beautiful bird.
