If it's not the scams, it's the army of bots that seem like the only ones that comment on your images. It's incredibly frustrating. Feels like there's more scammers than legit buyers 😢
I've gone through a lot of this shit 😂😂 They think we are dumb, hell.... My request to every artist reading this : If you're beginning your art buisness online, you'll meet 6 scammers out of 10. Be careful to what they say, read their texts twice. You'll detect em.
I think I got approached just once but my reaction was "why on earth would you want to buy my work?" 😅 I'm not actively trying to sell my works but that is a luxury most don't have, so I hope every artist stays safe from these scammers. 🙏
Love seeing your hair arc over the years. Full send looks sleek! I have a lot of the obvious "if you pay me we will display your work on our social media gallery to give you exposure" which is somehow even more insulting than the people asking for my work for free and to "pay me in exposure". They also get the rights to your work to sell on whatever platform they want that way. The NFT thing was creative though, I will give them that. Imagine if scammers put in as much creativity in a real career.
Thank you SO MUCH for this! It's always good for me to know what scammers are up to. I started focusing on my art career in June, and have already encountered several scams, one of which on messenger started asking for a lot of personal information, which scared me, so I stopped replying. It's sad that most of the attention I've gotten so far is from scammers, but I am happy that my first instinct is to be skeptical.
I've received such messages before, I didn't know they went this way though because I never got further than sending a stiff message in response telling them that I'll never permit my artworks to be turned into nfts 😅
@JonoDry Etsy started slapping their advertising tariffs onto my account, and I wasn't seeing any profit for it. 🙄 Etsy was great at first, but your work is bundled with your competitors' work, all on one page. The buyer is spoilt for choice. In addition, they sell any junk now. It's like a massive thrift store with Ai generated porn. Crass... 🙄
I sell physical artwork only, so my answer to an email like that would be automatic, come to a physical exhibition and look around, buy what you see, if not go find what you want elsewhere.

Exactly. Or lewd profiles, those seem to appear faster than my cat is shedding her fur.

I am still surprised how many people unfortunately still fall for these scammers .

Etsy is one of the biggest scammers. It's like throwing your money 💰 to the wind! 💨
What was your experience there? I used to sell prints of my work there for years but lately its kinda gone quiet
