I did not put the price in the video since this video could be here for many months or years and prices will change. At the time the video was posted, Southern Honda Powersports sells this vest for $789.
I have Helite vest that I have worn the past two years. It uses a tether instead of sensors to activate. If it’s activated and is still useable it is ready to go as soon as you replace the compressed air bottle. I wear it on the outside of my jacket and that way I can wear it with any jacket. Hopefully, I won’t get to see how well it works. At my age my bones are not too flexible. Nice review.
I have been using the TechAir 5 since the day I bought my new ride 3 years ago. Based on the reviews, I believe (and hope) it will work as expected when needed. Quality wise, it looks really solid. No tears or wears in 3 years. Yes, it lets air pass through, but not much. Above 80 F, it feels hot even in the North-East summer weather. I wear a Revit mesh jacket on top of this. Still the TechAir blocks lot of air. On the bright side, it helps to keep warm under the leather jacket in fall/winter rides. It is heavy, but one will get used to it after a couple of rides. BTW, based on my research, this is best airbag jacket available for street/cruiser riders. This has good shoulder protection which most of the other airbags don't have. Will I recommend it, yes, absolutely.
I’ve had one for 3 years. Very important to disarm it when off the bike because I had someone come up to me and give me a big hug and hit the back and it inflated so I know it works. But I wear it all the time even in 100 + degree temperatures. You just keep things wet and you stay cooler. Doesn’t breathe well but how could it you have a bladder around you. But it beats broken bones. I think it’s well worth the money.
Chris, I bought the TechAir-5 when I bought my ‘21 GW Tour DCT Airbag bike. Yes, I am a ATGATT guy with a broken spine from my Army days. The vest tracks time worn and I have now almost 4000 hours wearing it. You get used to the bulk and the feel, and quickly adapt to where you don’t notice it on anymore. … except in the heat. With a mesh jacket and the mesh airbag vest, it doesn’t flow air through the back. It is noticeably much hotter to me. I don’t wear it when it gets to above 92degF, and instead slip the level 2 D30 armor back in the mesh jacket. I love the TechAir-5. It holds the charge easily for 12 hour days, recharges quickly at night, and I have had absolute reliability from it. The vest goes through a test sequence when you close the tab and has the ability to show error codes on the LED lights. Highly recommend it!
I bought one a few weeks ago, definitely not cheap but I guess you can’t put a price on safety. It’s easy to use. It feels comfortable to me, but I will say it’s rough in the heat, to the point I don’t want to wear it when the temps are above 85. This is a problem. I guess I just need to get used to it and except a little sweat for the added safety. Now in the fall it will be a benefit, just tough in the summer. Depending on which you ride and how much airflow you get it may be better or worse. I ride a Moto Guzzi V85TT.
I picked up my new 2023 GW Tour DCT and quickly noticed my yellow mesh jacket will need replaced as I can hardly read the instrument cluster due to its reflection. What jacket do you have in this video? Thanks
In my group, we all wear the Tech-Air 5 vest. Not once, but twice we have seen it in action in tight, blind curves that had gravel in the road resulting with the front wheel washing out and the rider slamming to the pavement. Both accidents, both riders walked away bruised, not broken. In one incident, the E.R. doc was a motorcyclist as well; fully aware of the Tech-Air 5 capabilities. He said the only way my buddy walked away without broken ribs or a collarbone, or dislocating a shoulder, was because of the Vest. Data on the phone app indicated that the vest was fully inflated before impact. We view the Vest the same way we view helmets => if your head is worth $100, then get a $100 helmet. If your chest is worth more than a couple bucks, then get a vest. Trust me, I’ve seen it in action twice.
@@markfowler5577 So your friends low sided and didn’t high-side and the vest still inflated in time before they hit the ground?! I wonder how the vest knows to inflate so quickly when the rider is already leaning to the same side they crash when there’s no quick change of direction or impact. Thanks for the stories and I’m glad your friends were wearing them.
@roadglide Lolo I would love to be local I wish I was in the south but unfortunately we aren't we have to deal with the east coast weather. Not that we don't ride in the cold we are pretty protected with heated gear. 😁

And your review on that jacket “inflatable”..was stellar… What a piece of science… This is going to go a long way in the biking world I believe

Great review on this new technology. Easy to understand . Thanks

Great review on a product I didn’t even know existed. Thank you.
The Africa Twin is a beaut. Love it.
I’ve also worn it for over 20k miles
I like that the Tech Air 5 provides coverage for shoulders.
Is there stabilization for the head/neck?
Shoulders, yes. Head and Neck, no.

I have the Olympia AirGlide 6. CycleGear.com.
🌿 THAT IS INTERESTING 🤔
I NEVER WOULD HAVE THOUGHT SOMETHING LIKE THAT COULD HAPPEN 💡
THANKS FOR THE GOOD INFORMATION ℹ️

So your friends low sided and the vest still had time to go off and knew that there was a crash?. That’s quite impressive if so.
@@X-7-JAMES The best has 3 gyroscopes. As soon as one senses and abrupt change in direction, it triggers.
@@X-7-JAMES Correct. I think inflate time after trigger is 40 milliseconds.
Can rider wear a larger size for comfort without compromising safety? I wear large t-shirt , didnt like how the airbag fit even xl was snug.
I normally wear Large, but had to move up to XL just to get the vest to fit me. You have to have enough space between the vest and your riding jacket.
I wonder how much work he had to put into cleaning that Africa Twin after his Alaska trip…it looks show room condition!
What happened to your suspension, you were bouncing around quite a bit , especially right after you left the restaurant
How much ?

Pretty soon there's not going to be enough chairs for all the ppl you bring to restaurant.
You are correct Phillip! We’ll save one for you too.

🌿 LOVE FROM MISSISSIPPI USA 🇮🇱♥️🇺🇲
