Exmoor Gala 2024 | Barnards Miniature Railway

Over the weekend of the 20th and 21st of July 2024, we held our first Exmoor Gala. The 'exmoor' is a class of locomotive design built by Exmoor Locomotive works at Bratton Fleming, Devon.
Several exmoors were built in different scales, with four of the 7 1/4 variety ending up at Barnards. Over this weekend they were publicly steamed together for the first time. On The Saturday they ran to Sitooterie and our Class 35 Hymek 'Uncle John' pulled them up the steep Angel Green bank (to ensure our Exmoors are not overworked), with them taking it back to Burtonshaw after. On the Sunday, all steam ran to Sitooterie only and the hymek offered a shuttle Burtonshaw - Angel Green service.
Also note the running of our branch line, the first time steam locomotives have been used in passenger services since its construction.
