tbh tho i actually got it, and it turns out its a whole new cable meaning a whole new wire i have to carry around just for my phone... I'd thought it was more like an upgrade on the normal android cable but nope. I love the phone but I hate that I have to carry 2 cables for my laptop and phone instead of only one like i used to.
Just put a small adaptor on your microusb cable, it is the size of a whistle.

Have the updated the ui? e.g introduced an app draw? Thats the only reason I dont want to buy this phone

I recently started researching new phones to replace my aged old Galaxy S3, and it seriously blew my mind that people are willing to sacrifice easily replaceable batteries to save a millimeter or two of thickness. It's a must-have; batteries aren't always reliable and sometimes I just want to take the thing out. G5 seems to be my only option when it comes to high-end phones at present.

Not really mate , while it has some good points , its just not all good , the build quality is ...... being kind ..... at best average , the always on display is nigh on useless in daylight, battery life on a single battery also at best average , yes you can swap it out which is a good thing , but if you have a decent size battery there is no need to shut the phone down and swap out .
Friends dont seem to add a lot value imo .
LG deserves points for trying something different , but imo they dropped the ball in too many areas , and im currently a 6p owner by the way ; ).

Ok, Samsung doesn`t have Knock On, Customize keys, Shortcut keys, and others in system, but with Xposed, you can do many things :) (I love listening to music on youtube in backround or with screen off)

+rabe3 alsett Why when you could use the official TH-cam app? Root takes 10 Mins to obtain. That's not even a joke. That's what it took me.
For root, I installed a recovery, total time was
+Loren Vidican I had to unlock the bootloader (I had to make an LG account and fill in a bunch of stuff about my phone before they gave me the unlock.bin), download the right version of SuperSU and twrp. With the prerequisites already though, it is just a fact of enabling usb debugging, entering bootloader mode, flashing twrp, booting into it and flashing SuperSU.
It's so easy on lg and Nexus devices.

Removable battery and IR blaster is the reason why I am moving from a Galaxy S5 to an LG G5. It is really a shame that Samsung is getting rid of all these features that made me love their the S4 and S5.

i love LG i used to be a samsung fan had samsung Europa/samsung 3 mini/and the samsung s4 then i got the lg g4 and now lg g5 i can never go back to samsung due to there phones lag after about a year the batterys of samsung drain more after about a year and now the new samsung phones you can not replace the battery and they need to be replaced every year that is what happend to my s4 and s3 mini the speakers on the new samsungs are sounding really distorted these days they where great on my samsung s4 love lg g4 speaker and lg g5 speaker could still do with stereo speakers only thing missing now
I just got the G5 about 3 weeks ago.
Now to understand one thing: I NEVER kept a smartphone for more than 2 weeks. NEVER. I Always got something else. I always found SOMETHING to hate about 'en all.
However, I love my G5 SO much, that even though I dropped it in the bath tub, and the power button doesn't work correctly anymore (fingerprint sensor is GREAT as ever though), I STILL keep it as my main daily driver because of:
(UPDATE) MOST IMPORTANT REASON: PERFORMANCE! -> This beast throws a staggering 140,000 score on AnTuTu, and you can see all that power when you run ANYTHING on this baby. It's just simply AWESOME on performance. Games, multitasking, EVERYTHING!
1. Camera -> SERIOUSLY, you can't get better anywhere. Yeah I know Samsung's cameras, but when you got a group of 15 people, the G5 shines on not only fitting them all in, but also producing AWESOME clarity and quality on the images.
2. Design -> Many have criticized the G5's design, but I think it's just AWESOME. Reminds me of the iPhone 6s a little bit, only MUCH better with that shiny bezel around it, and the modular design, etc.
3. Modular design, battery replacement -> NOTHING beats being able to prolong your phone's life, by throwing away a deffective battery after 2 years or so, and making it last as well as it did on day 1 when you purchased it. And NOTHING beats being able to go from 0% to 100% on battery just by easily and quickly swapping batteries.
4. Speaker -> AMAZING quality on speaker AND headphones.
5. Fingerprint sensor -> I really have to say this is the most accurate sensor on the market. I used to think it was the Nexus 6p, but no... This one IS the ultimate fingerprint sensor. What's more, you don't even have to click the power button to fully unlock it. AWESOME stuff!
There are many more reasons, but these are off the top of my head.
The amazing thing is it's price too.
So... if you want something GOOD, if you want the apple of Android devices, the Mercedes of Android devices, the Ferrari (in terms of speed) of Android devices, LG G5 is the ONLY way to go!!!

Personally prefer the S7. The G5 is not a bad phone and I like the wide-angle camera, but I'm just not a fan of some of the decisions LG made on the phone. Not big on the micro-dizing finish, which makes it feel a little weird and a little cheap compared to other metal phones and I think the modular design is not well-implemented. Not to mention the 32-bit DAC is not available in the US. Which means that the only module available right now is the camera grip, which is admittedly not very impressive. Womp womp.
Don't get me wrong. It's not a bad phone. There are people out there who will like it because it has an IR blaster and/or removable battery, and that's fine. But to me, I think LG kinda missed the mark here. I used the LG G3 and G4, and would have preferred it if LG refined them while doing the modular stuff on a different lower-volume product.

I got the G5 and its definitely the best ever phone i could find, the screen size is optimal and practical for everyday use, its lighter than most other phones and comes with dual sim option. Also the price is a great deal less than its competitors.
I currently have the G5 and honestly the knock on feature has made a big difference when I use phones now. I never have to press the lock button. It's the best thing!
I prefer S7 Edge but I definitely see why people would like the G5 more. To me, as long as it's android, I like it
When I first saw this video in my sugesttions I though I will be some crappy video of somebody comparing two smartphones and saying that one is best than another. But when you say, "the word 'better' is subjective" and you make an opposite video, you definitely deserve a like and a sub :D

exactly what I did yesterday. some things you'll need to get used to is the bottom speaker, so it will get blocked when browsing on your back, and the screen. its smaller than the g3 and seems like there's too much bezel. also, its super slippery so get a case asap lol

S7 has the better screen but the G5 is a smoother android experience.
Had both and went through 4 S7s as they had the isocell sensor leaving pink, blue and green pixels on Hdr photo's.
So now have the G5 and it's a lot smoother and doesn't have the slow keyboard like many complain about on the S7, probably down to the heavy touchwiz software.

s7 edge is very nice looking but does it match up to its look elsewhere ? what sold me on the lg g5 was the camera got tired of the cameras all being about the same every year I've seen 5 megapixel cameras that do just fine but the lg has something new ect I was supposed to get the s7 edge but they sold out o.o sad face lol I want both

I like how both phones have very interesting differences that make each phone unique and makes it hard to pick either one.
I hate the fact that Samsung took out the IR blaster! To the PhoneBuff team who is going to be at the Note 7 launch event, please ask Samsung why they got rid of it! Saying that it wasn't a widely used feature is not good enough! Those that used it, loved it, and saw what an awesome feature it was. Removing it does a huge disservice for them!
They removed it but now is water resistant and g5 is not
1:30 - Didn't know until now that the S7 has a glass back. That's the reason I once refused to buy a Nexus phone. I can't believe Samsung did that. I sometimes like to have a bareback phone so I can put stick-on wallpapers and the G3 is a tough phone. I've dropped it once on concrete and the screen lasted a month before it quit! Replaced the screen and it's working perfectly.
As someone who buys a flagship phone every 4 years, the removable battery is the deciding feature for me. Well done LG!
I like that the usb-c charging port is also replaceable. I'm always wearing out ports on other devices.

I currently have LG5 and formerly had a Samsung grand prime. The only feature I cant figure out on LG5 is that when ever I would see videos on Facebook, I had the option of just holding my finger on video and it would save it on my Samsung Grand Prime. Can somebody please give a tip how to save on LG5.
you included some obscure features but missed obvious ones: *
16- much cheaper price. its $520 here
*17- in most markets outside the US it comes in dual SIM as the default version and you don't have to import it.
*18- it has SLIMPORT (similar to MHL for hdmi out support)
*19- it performs better than the xynos and even samsung's us snapdragon versions
*20- and it includes a free camera 360. LG even gave a way a VR headsets to sweeten the deal for us

G5. I bought a G4 about 5 months ago for 200usd off eBay brand new and I love it. I recently looked into the G5 and you can find them new for less than 300Usd. A S7 will run you at least 550usd new at eBay. the fact
is that the S7 is a far more popular phone and so the price has stayed up. the G5 isn't in at 7 but people's ignorance to how good the G5 is will help the phone and has helped the phone go down more in price and their loss is your gain here. Really look into it

LG knows how to make phones. My G2 is the best phone I have had. I am seriously thinking about getting the G5. It hasn't sold as well, simply because it didn't conform. I'm not about conforming. I appreciate this guy being honest about the G5 rather than going with the crowd.

Got the S7 but I am returning it for LG G5. I had a LG G4, then I thought may be S7 is better. The only thing that was better (slightly) was the camera. LG G4 had much better audio (headset connection), less bloatware, better camera software and better touch sensitivity and smoother experience than S7. Going through reviews, it seems like G5 might be a better option for all of the above plus I can add my own DAC module, because I don't want to play my high impedance over the ear headsets through some crappy S7 snapdragon built in DAC that is inaccurate to the max.

Galaxy S7 has a portret mode (selective focus- pictures can look like with profesional camera after little practice), that is the only thing I really missed on G5... Before change it to S7
One more thing.. might be minor, but still an excellent option when internet is not available - the G5 has radio FM! :)
had the LG g3 loved it.upgraded to g5 found it to feel cheep and nasty build quilts so went for the s7 edge not looked back still love my g3 tho and side by side not much in it
The problem is not the phone in itself, it is an excellent device and the best I have had, it competes fairly well with the s7 and iphone 7, but its dollar signs that LG is worried about. The phone is extremely underrated and doesn't get the recognition it deserves, it wasn't marked or represented well, and the general public isn't open to change and likes to stick with what's familiar and "popular". This phone doesn't deserve the flack that it gets at all, if people had given it a chance then is would have sold more. Lets not forget it was voted best innovative phone and won awards at MCW and received generally positive reviews despite that.

Most important is the ui software. Lg n sony software does not lag or hang like sammy ui software. Thats why i switched to lg or sony from sammy. had gs1-gs5 before.
I be very disappointing with the g5 at launch but seems to have come down in price lots and need to now buy a new phone for £200 and its just there in some places.

2018 and I still chose the g5 over the s7, it's all preference. I've had the s7 before. However it was always dirty and slippery as all hell. I'm not a case guy so.. oh yeah.. it also all comes down to preference lol.
I manage about 500 devices, ranging from iPads to phones. I see G5'S in need of repair or replacement about 3 times as much as I see Galaxy s5's and s7's.
bit disappointed with the LG5, got on the LG wagon with the G2 and then got the G PRO2, which I absolutely fell in love with, got stolen after 2 years and so Im back in the market. Probably go the V10 but the G PRO2 at its current price is a real bargain.

Both are equally powerful, while the V20 has the upper edge when it comes to media playback, as it has better sound output quality. But then, it is plasticy (top and bottom) and a bit too big.

why should the lg g5 have an always on display? It uses IPS LCD, not super Amoled

I have both the LG G5 and the Galaxy s7 and i use the LG G5 because it is just faster and more useful for sure. I teach at a college and i use the camera because it is just laid out and faster to maneuver than the Galaxy s7. Being modular with the extra battery, i can pop another one in when doing videos for the school, the LG G5 is just way more beneficial to me than the Galaxy s7. I love my Galaxy s7 (but), in a work environment when productivity and speed of use is an issue, the LG G5 for sure beats the Galaxy s7 hands down!!
the double tap hardly works on mine ever since i got it, i tap it twice and nothing which sucks cus its much faster than using power button

you forget number 16: lg g5 have FM RADIO fm radio is very important when you dont have internet conecction or when you go in other countries. also when you have internet, radio fm dont use your cpu and dont use data internet mobile and not battery drain like internet radio
