I love that they animated Nami’s eyes going back and doesn’t just cut to her eyes being normal. Makes you feel/think Luffy is affecting the whole world with his powers.
It's amazing that his abilities enhanced from Gear 5 are affecting others now. The previous gears were just self-enhancements but now he affecting his surroundings with "Joy."
As said by Kaido, this is an awakening effect very common among Paramencia types, Doflamingo and Katakuri could do the same things. BUT, Luffy’s fruit seems to be special because it encapsulates both the powers of a Zoan and a Paramencia at the same time, possibly being it a mythical fruit, something similar happens with Kaido himself, Yamato, Marco, and even Sengoku, all of them appeared to have a secondary use of an element or power aside from being able to transform. But the “gum gum” fruits appears to be even more potent in this regard as Kaido observed.
If you go back and watch old One Piece stuff, eyes popping out of heads wasn’t abnormal, so I’ve been thinking. What if Luffy has been affecting his world without knowing it? Like how Ichigo lets off Spiritual Pressure unconsciously in Bleach and that’s what causes his friends to get powers. What if him being near his friends give them the abilities to adapt to whatever situation because it lets them get closer to achieving their dreams. They believe in Luffy AKA the Sun God and he helps them with their wish

I think since they’re just introducing this gear, Luffy will have a hard time not letting the fruit take over. But when he gains more control then he’ll be more focused and stronger than how he is here 💪🏻

I think the hate for this transformation doesn't come from the transformation itself but from the fact that it's something that came out of a prophecy which undermines Luff's struggles throughout the story. I personally love this transformation, especially what it represents, tho I think it would've been perfect if it was the result of Luffy's final step in understanding and owning his powers, instead of something that was bound to happen because of a prophecy.
This moments is exactly why i like One Piece, while it does has things like drama, politics etc, unlike any other animanga, it doesn't take itself seriously and Gear 5 is one of them and i absolutely loved it.
I wish they showed everybody elses reaction too like Kinenmon and his red scabards team , Usopp, Hyogoro, Yamato, Momonosuke, and the minks. Its a pity that we cannot see Yamato and Momonosuke reaction as they are outside at the top with Luffy and Kaido.
