    I played the Led Zeppelin table yesterday and was thinking about you and wishing I was playing your table instead and BLAM! Your new video drops!

    Haha, thanks for validating that my repeated comments over the last couple weeks weren't a bother to you! Seriously, it has been SO COOL watching your progress and I'm glad I finally caught up to real time now! And I've said it before, but thank you for not just all the information, but also for the inspiration. I discovered you could make custom machines about a decade ago, and for the first time in my life I didn't immediately dive in, recognizing that it was way more difficult than anything that I had ever attempted before and I decided to hold off, get better at various other things, and then try in the future. And while that was a good idea then, I really don't have as many excuses now, and even really for the last several years. So I'm itching to get started and your series here really has been the driving catalyst. So thank you, sincerely.
    I have two questions for you, tangentially related:
    1) Do you have a list of the hardware/software that you use for making your videos?
    2) A few years ago, I bought my first machine, which was Black Hole, but specifically it was *in pieces* because the previous-previous owner had removed a lot of things with the intention of re-coating the playfield, and then just never did that. After watching your restoration of The Getaway, it got me wondering: Would you advise just doing the bare minimum to put this back together and get it running, or do you think it would be worth it to start from the beginning with it being more of a complete overhaul machine? I'm torn, because obviously I don't have the experience to do everything right off the bat (although I'm more confident now than I would have been years ago), but I still need to learn at some point, but if I just put it back together, will I regret *not* fixing more first, having to them take it back apart later? It's a tough choice, and from what I've heard, this is a notoriously difficult machine, haha. I just bought it because it was fun to play and it looked cool as heck!

      Oof yeah not sure about the Black hole project, I'm not super familiar with the internals on that one.
      Honestly for me, the deciding factor really comes down to the playfield - is it worth restoring, cleaning and clearing the playfield? Is this a machine you'd like to keep for a long time? 🤷 depending on that is whether I'd decide to bother to do the full tear down and everything, otherwise I'd probably just do partial tear downs and deep cleaning section by section and rebuild only what I really needed to to get it playing solid etc
      Re: my hardware for recording my videos I just use my iPhone 12 max pro and then I have a couple of lights on tripods I got off Amazon. I did get a better microphone, I just started using a Rode wireless Go 2 setup and it's been awesome!

    I've been out of the loop for a bit because of the youtube algorithm (even though I'm subscribed) but this is some great progress, Steve! I'm going to have to go back and catch up on what I missed.

    That’s so cool. Looks awesome. I’m excited to see it going on the real machine.
    Only suggestion, and this is me not being able to figure stuff out, show, don’t tell. The instructions on the slides are great, but I like it when you can tell what to do from lights on the playfield or audio cues. Not having to look up to the backbox. 😂
    Keep up the progress!

      @thepinballroom  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah I'm having lights flash for shots that you need to make - and I'll add callouts but those will probably be one of the last things I'll add in

      @@thepinballroom don’t get me wrong, it really looks great. I like the colors and fonts and all that. The light shows are neat. I’m probably one end of the spectrum in that I like games like the original Legend of Zelda. They just dump you into the world and let you figure it out with no explanation. :) some people find that frustrating. 🤷‍♂️

    Took some time to watch whole playlist, and finally catch up. Long time to need start coding rules, need to get all input and output modules build and coded working. Ofc need game itself too, cabinet almost ready and started coming electronics orders.

    Instead of listing the shots on the LCD screen, you name the shots - and you name them on the playfield - pick a few select ones so it's not too confusing, but I get what you're trying to do with the shots on the LCD, but you'll have to name them: Shoot the Zepplen, shoot the stage, shoot whatever - if it's clearer to the player, it'll make more sense and become more intuitive for the player - if it's too confusing and some players just want to 'shoot whatever' let that be an option too; or it's better to have them "select" a song only when they've put the ball into a holder - some players just want to play and if they have to scroll through these lists first, it'll stifle fun.
    Having the three primary multiball modes are good too - how about this? Naming the shots after the songs instead? I think I like the idea of having the player hit the shots to open the modes rather than just select them, unless they do hit a lockball somewhere hidden.

    Hi Steve. It is always with great enthusiasm that I discover your videos. I am currently finalizing the artwork for my playfield (it takes a long time...) because I want to finalize the construction as much as possible before getting into my programming more seriously .... it's going to be a lot of work, especially with the language barrier. So I'm training in English with your videos and in programming Also. 😉. Thanks again for the time spent documenting your project. Take care.

      I am confident that you will do great! I can't imagine trying to do this in another language but I will help however I can. Hope your artwork is going good!!

    Hey there. I stumbled on your video series a few weeks ago. I have been enjoying watching them. I have considered building my own pinball machine after i finish with my current cocktail arcade game build. But I am not sure I want to go through designing my own game play field. I just want to build an arcade that has already been designed and tested. Are there any pre-made kits available to purchase?

    • @thepinballroom
      @thepinballroom  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If you mean a complete playfield with flippers and all the playfield mechs and ball guides and everything, no - the closest thing would be to take an existing game and re-theme it maybe? Not sure if that’s what you’re asking exactly, sorry.

    • @Superdummy803
      @Superdummy803 ปีที่แล้ว

      Got it, thanks for the reply. I was thinking more along the lines of the play field board with all the cut outs in place and the artwork applied, but none of the features IE: bumpers, flippers etc.. installed or wired. That would be left to the builder. Still not sure if I would want to tackle this, but your videos are fun to watch.@@thepinballroom
