    Thank you, Sir, for this lecture. I have just noticed that in all your videos you refer to the Current Source using its symbol but never show what components are in and how it could be biased to give the reference current. Could please show how to construct a current source and how to bias it. Thanks

    May God bless you well for making all of these videos. May God give you great electronics shop equipment. I own the company Frank Reiser Video/Audio Electronics, through which I repair peoples' consumer electronics. I make very, very little money. One reason is because I can't get replacement parts. Manufacturers do not stock replacement parts because they want you to buy new.

    Just come across your site now. Super Duper. Few observation items here comparing BJT vs. MOSFET Current mirror circuits,
    1. With MOSFET, you can scale the W/L ratio of the other MOSFETs to get different I-Outs for the same I-mirror circuit. Not doable with BJT that you would need a different current mirror circuits, i.e. different I-Refs. Also generate I-outs source and sink from just same I-Ref of the MOSFET circuits, flexible.
    2. Also, with MOSFET, You can extend the Cascade of MOSFETs to generate I-outs indefinitely because it is voltage device and you do not bleed the current off the I-Ref like in the case of BJT where you bleed the Ib to the cascaded BJTs down the chain and cuase error when compared to from I-Ref.
    Excellent Channel modualtion explanation. Instructors, textbooks and many others tend to avoid it and assume ideal due to complexity of the whole thing.

    hi, thsnk you for you explanation, but there ise a pmos transistor, doesn't it need to be fed source to drain? I mean drain should be negative, source should be positive.Maybe you are confused about n mos and pmos symbols.

  • @yuangcao7267

    Sir i request you to make video on Pmosfet current equations and conditions for all regions of operation... Its very confusing.

    • @ALLABOUTELECTRONICS
      @ALLABOUTELECTRONICS  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Yes, that's true.
      For P-type MOSFET or PMOS, the Vgs is negative. Or in other words, Vsg is positive and threshold voltage is negative.
      So, MOSFET will operate in the cut-off region and no channel will be formed when Vsg < |Vt|
      The MOSFET will operate in linear or triode region when Vsd < Vsg - |Vt|
      And it will operate in the saturation region when Vsd >= Vsg - |Vt|
      I hope it will help you in remembering the condition for each region of operation.

  • @abhishekpilla8857
    @abhishekpilla8857 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    At 3:25 actually if Vd= Vs then vds should be less than vgs-vt and it should operate in triode region or something....but you said Vds> Vgs-Vt ...how is that possible?? Is that some kinda property of the mirror current circuit??

    • @ALLABOUTELECTRONICS
      @ALLABOUTELECTRONICS  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      If you closely observe, it is Vd = Vg since gate and drain terminals are connected together.

    • @abhishekpilla8857
      @abhishekpilla8857 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ALLABOUTELECTRONICS sorry yeah I wrote it wrong but what I meant was Vd=Vg...then The condition Vds> Vgs-Vt doesn't hold anymore...thus not in saturation ???

    • @ALLABOUTELECTRONICS
      @ALLABOUTELECTRONICS  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Just subtract Vs on both sides. That means when Vd = Vg, Vds = Vgs. Therefore, Vds will be always greater than Vgs - Vt, isn't it ??
      Therefore, MOSFET will be in saturation.
      I hope it will clear your doubt

  • @hydrodynamics6038
    @hydrodynamics6038 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    3:15 Anyone can explain to me what actually "Diode connected transistor" and why VD=VG => VDS>=VGS- VT (I think if VD=VG => VDS

    • @ALLABOUTELECTRONICS
      @ALLABOUTELECTRONICS  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      when Vd = Vg, Vd - Vs = Vg - Vs, right !!
      That means Vds = Vgs.
      Therefore, Vgs - Vt will be less than Vds or in other words, Vds > = Vgs - Vt.
      I hope, it will clear your doubt.
