There’s gotta be at least a million car audio geeks like us in the world who’ll follow this channel once they discover it! If you were to present yourself and this channel to the manufacturers, I reckon that most would be willing to lend you their drivers to demo/test. They’d get free advertising directly targeted at their key customers, and all it would cost them is shipping. Sure, the occasional sub would get killed, but that’s rare for the higher quality of drivers you review.
I do like the cheome motor and the orange TI frame alot but the apocalypse is just a higher quality sub, but id say there both comparable, and if you using a smaller amp the apocalypse's 3" coil and softer suspention likely is better choice and SQ is probably higher.
I'm seriously debating a 8+ sub build for my Ford E-350 gutted 12 passenger V10 van. And want to stick with my black and orange everything-in-my-life theme. So still thinking Avatar and the bounce is getting very trendy and I love the uniqueness the Avatar has currently for sure. Great vid good sir!

Hi Parker, time for you to do your research and learn a little more about speakers. Xmax is the limit of the motor system design. Electromagnetic interaction of coil and magnet. Xmax (mechanical) is the limit of the spider, surround and baseplate.
One addition to your videos that I could suggest you might do is to weigh the woofers when you review them... Some people are curious as to what each might weigh exactly compared to the others, I know I am lol

@@ScramTek my box is about 10 and change cf internal cant remember exactly but its tuned to 34. Right now I have them wired to 1ohm on a dd m4a but going to put more power to them at some point. I run a js alternator 370 amp with 2 105 ah agms. When driving I stay between 12.5 to 14 volts at full volume depending the fq I'm playing. My mids an highs ain't done yet but for now I run 4 crescendo un 6.5s with 2 soundqubed pro 6.5s and 2 crescendo pwx 6.5s on a deaf bonce 500.4. Will eventually be adding more batterys possibly another alternator if needed more power for the subs an more 6.5s an tweeters with a separate amp for them. I have some vid on my channel of the current setup as well as previous setups
Will you please rate the subs on a 1-10 scale. Loudness, sq, lows and highs. And maybe even looks. I know there are variables, but that would kind of let us scale other subs off each other. And not on a curve. So a budget sub doesnt get extra points because it's a budget banger.. you're doing great work, and you'll soon be one of the biggest names in car audio. Keep testing on my man.

I have the SVU or Volcano version of this 15" sub... while its in a different category than the STU in terms of performance, they are built very similar. I would agree with others the orange Avatar subs are SQL for sure vs an all out SPL sub. I tuned to 33hz in 3.5cuft off a Smart 5k and it truly is something amazing. It just loves the lows to a point you cant help but laugh out loud, people hear it and are just like WTF.... There are plenty of $700~ subs that are louder, this thing just sounds so damn good I would take the trade off for SPL any day. However I don't compete cause there isn't shit here in AZ for competitions anymore but for a daily I would go the Avatar without question, they really are a good sub.
@@marktolosa428 The SPL vs SQL thing is somewhat subjective with no exact defining parameters. These Avatars with a 4" coil, glass fiber cone, lower FS, puts them more towards an SQL, however they do have a low QTS... When I think of a SPL sub its going to have softer parts, higher FS, different coil, etc. Not saying you couldn't compete with these and do well, they are not what I would consider a dedicated competing SPL sub and are designed to be more musical. I wouldn't want to compete with them, not at their price range, much better options if you are looking to burp.
I have always loved your channel I look forward to New ones, I love in depth reviews on wide variety of subs so I hate to sound like a nit picker but You are still confusing xmax and excursion, Xmax is just how far the coil moves while windings still stay within the gap, XMECH is the amount of excursion it's capable of without reaching it's mechanical limits like say bottoming out. Xmax is a very deceiving number it doesn't really tell you much except the amount of linier excursion which is the windings staying 100% within the gap, 2 subs with exact same height coils and gap depth can have very very different xmax ratings just from top plate thickness but they'll both can have the same excursion. If anyone thinks I'm talking total nonsense please just Google it for a more in depth explanation before freaking out, keep up with the great content parker!✌️
Xmax is rated different then what you think they are saying. Excursion limit and Xmax are not the same. The avatar I believe is more of a SoundQ sub seeing as it has a 4inch coil for better cone control and less overall "flex" in the driver. The Deaf Bonce are true SPL drivers all the way. They really don't have a lot of sonic accuracy where I'm guessing the Avatar will.

If this was an apples to apples comparison both subs being at .5 I bet that avatar will gain at least that .6-.7 back... Wire the DB at 2 ohm and see how far down it is from the avatar, I bet more then .6-.7 . Nice vid btw
It was between these and the Sundown Xv3's and I'm glad I chose the Xv3's! Although I kinda wanted the DB, cuz not everyone runs them like Sundown. But I'm happy w my choice!
Yeah, I was looking at the xv3s and went with a preorder for 2 12” v2 banhammers from EMF. 4” coil, 3k rms. Only $350 each at the time, but I’ve been waiting since May. I’m sure all are pretty similar at the end of the day.

EMF audio Banhammer subwoofer eta is this month. I plan on buying one. I’d love to see a review of it. As far as the avatar maybe it doesn’t have as much xmech as the other. I’d pick more xmax over xmech. Also if u have more power the 4” coil would be the way to go. assuming there similar quality and construction

Parker put all this 4" verses 3" coil to bed and test the B2 Rampage! Are they worth the money NO! but B2 did change the 4" coil woofer with a custom basket and an oversized spider. PS Brother love yea man!
well, without real world bass experience, but all DB seems to be "better" then all avatar speakers... have six 8" DB machete mids, and they play like crasy, love them
U should meter db's on music for woofer reviews its more real world and it would add a new dynamic for daily drivers most of us arent burping our setups..
I have the Apocolypse DB412...had to buy the Sundown SFB13500 and bunch of lithium just to have something powerful enough to beat on it!.. And they still take it all
@Parker. I really enough your videos. Off topic question, looking for your opinion. How powerful of an amp would you go before doing electrical upgrades (big3, alternator, battery etc)? I have a 2000 watt max amp, but the subs i have can handle more. Im happy with it, but you know how it is, you always want a little more.
Bro I’ve been going through that same dilemma for a long time now. With me it’s a money issue but if your subs can handle more you will look for more to give em. Your amp is 2000 max so probably 800-1000, depending on the brand. You’ll be fine with stock electrical as long as it’s in good shape up to 1500 watts RMS with occasional burps of 2-3000. I’ve heard you can do 2000 RMS but I don’t recommend it. I’d say if you are gonna have RMS power of 1000 watts or higher then it is a good idea to do the Big 4 upgrade at least. Can’t hurt. And when doing it do it right with 100% OFC wire at least 1/0 gauge Car audio wire and if you are gonna use welding cable then go with 2/0 gauge it is equivalent to 1/0 oversized sky high audio cable. Take the time and money to do it then you don’t have anything to worry about. And fusing , don’t forget to fuse everyu
any bigger and you’ll want an alternator first followed by an additional battery in the trunk with a nice agm under hood. Under hood would be good to do with the alt.

Same cone area. Cone has nothing to do with that. Unless you mean coil. The TI frame supports a 10” landing for the spider. Plenty of Xanax monsters use a Ti frame with 4” coils (Fi,Ascendant,B2,etc) . And they kill it.
What I find nuts about this review is the AB XFL hits just as hard on the db scale. Guess these hair trick harder down low. Cool video and those are sweet subs.
XFLs exist for SPL on the cheap. They are the new Kicker: not bad, but nothing noteworthy, just cheap volume. Like the Kicker CVRs from the mid to late 2000s. I killed a 15 inch XFL from clipping (terrible electrical in a 99 Town Car, even with a supercap, HO alt, full 0awg OFC, etc etc, but still had pretty common MASSIVE voltage drops...) and tossed a $100 Audiopipe in the exact same setup with no adjustments and the Audiopipe sounded a lot better, not quite as loud, and took the abuse way better. In fact Im still using it on my computer's 2.1 system. Didnt hit as low but across the freq range sounded better. The XFL died after around 15 minutes of solid play, and the Audiopipe played full tilt for two back to back 2.5 hour drives. Replaced that with an Earthquake Subzero and that obvs blew both out the water ha, but way more money too.

Hey Parker, I've been saying this for a while, but I'd love to see you build a new box for a single 15 inch sub and switch to testing a single 15 at least some of the time instead of only the single 12. I think a single 15 gives you so much more in cone area and higher SPL scores and is a much better choice for that big SUV cabin. Two 10 inch subs sometimes would also be interesting to throw in there for testing once in a while. I do appreciate that you have been adding some different size subs like the 8's and single 10" here and there, but if I were you, I would switch to doing a single 15 most of the time. I know it's bigger and heavier and a little more expensive, but people will like it more and the bigger SPL numbers will be more impressive, plus a single 15 is just more impressive than a single 12. Most people should have room for a single 15 inch sub and a 3.75 to 4 cubic foot box since most people run two 12's and run a 4 cube to 5 cube box. If I had the amplifier, electrical and lithium to back it up like you do, I'd say the 15 inch 3515R is almost the perfect single sub setup for me, but otherwise a pair of 3012R's would be a great setup. I'm sure six of the 3012R's would be mind blowing in your big box. The Hurricane subs you had in the box last year were sick, but this year, I'd love to see something really off the charts, and I think six 3512's or 3012's on two MD12k's might do the trick with more lithium to back you up and keep that voltage in the high 12's and 13's.
I get what you’re saying, but I think Parker should stick with 12s. 12” drivers are usually the best choice for the average basshead. Most manufacturers subwoofer ranges use the same magnet in the 10” and the 12”, so it makes sense to have the extra cone area for usually not much higher price. And with 12s, enclosure size can be between 1.5 and 3 cu.ft. depending on trunk size and desired performance (SPL vs. LF extension). 15s take up considerably more space. If you’re wanting the best LF performance you’ll need up to 6 cu.ft. Also, if funds allow and addiction to bass increases, it’s easier to just buy additional 12s to the one you’d already have. Personally, I’d prefer to have say four 12s than two 15s
What's your opinion though with a space limitation of let's say 4.5 cubic feet (2)12s or (1)15? I would say generally the pair of 12-in subs would be better. You know, Assuming we're getting the same load on the amp after rise. If you buy a single 15 then you're going to be stuck. Thinking about getting a second one 🤣. I have a 2006 Scion xB and I can only use the hatch area which is small so I get just over four cubic feet to work with. And I've done a pair of twelves 3 tens and a single 15. But never used identical subs or had the right coil configurations to get the exact same load of my amp to do a real fair comparison
maybe the x-max for both subs are defined differently - i'm not 100 percent sure, but seems to be at avatar it is defined as by completely stretching out the spider, and at db notmally as overhang and maybe some +mm - i think that because their motors height difference, and hand in hand with that, their coils winding height difference is not as big as difference bttween their x-maxes...so 🤷♂
Sold out everywhere. Everytime you make a video the subs either go up in price or get sold out. Not your fault but simple it's says how much your reviews carry on .
Edit - doesn't seem fair 0.5 vs 1ohm plus no frequency or power reading with Spl numbers. I would love to see more $300 test like the Resilient sounds gold's, Savard Hi-q, Wolfram even if they really are closing. Also I would love to see some similar spec subs with only alum vs copper coils being different. Also what is required to float things, power, cone area, Fs etc? I just can't afford $500 x 2 or more subs.
doesn't take much to float just build the biggest box your able to and tune low thats the cheaper efficient way. downside is most time you'll lose power handling capabilities with such a large box

Parker I am about to grab an avatar 12' stu12-d2 I'm planning on powering it with the new taramps big boss 3k amp. do you think this will be a good setup in a trailblazer ss? in a ported box built to recommended avatar specs 1.9 cubic foot I believe.
I ended up getting the avatar stu 15” d1 figured I got the room. Never had 15” I’m gonna throw in a 300amp alternator big3 etc. worst case I’ll do double battery’s I have 1 optima yellow top now.
I'm willing to bet in a walled build for spl the Def Bonce. The Def Bonce technically has the higher Mech excursion max. I suspect the Avatar will have better sound quality though. The Deaf Bonce will also be more affordable to push to silly numbers then the Avatar if your are solely going for pure SPL with no Sound quality involved. It is all in what your true goals are.

Also, wiring to 1ohm or .5 ohms means no resistance, which means you'll probably end up blowing them up 2ohms is usually the sweet spot Sq and spl

I have always loved your channel I look forward to New ones, I love in depth reviews on wide variety of subs so I hate to sound like a nit picker but You are still confusing xmax and excursion, Xmax is just how far the coil moves while windings still stay within the gap, XMECH is the amount of excursion it's capable of without reaching it's mechanical limits like say bottoming out. Xmax is a very deceiving number it doesn't really tell you much except the amount of linier excursion which is the windings staying 100% within the gap, 2 subs with exact same height coils and gap depth can have very very different xmax ratings just from top plate thickness but they'll both can have the same excursion. If anyone thinks I'm talking total nonsense please just Google it for a more in depth explanation before freaking out, keep up with the great content parker!✌️

Xmax is rated different then what you think they are saying. Excursion limit and Xmax are not the same. The avatar I believe is more of a SoundQ sub seeing as it has a 4inch coil for better cone control and less overall "flex" in the driver. The Deaf Bonce are true SPL drivers all the way. They really don't have a lot of sonic accuracy where I'm guessing the Avatar will.

If this was an apples to apples comparison both subs being at .5 I bet that avatar will gain at least that .6-.7 back... Wire the DB at 2 ohm and see how far down it is from the avatar, I bet more then .6-.7 . Nice vid btw

Yeah, I was looking at the xv3s and went with a preorder for 2 12” v2 banhammers from EMF. 4” coil, 3k rms. Only $350 each at the time, but I’ve been waiting since May. I’m sure all are pretty similar at the end of the day.
@@TheDoozie43 I was gonna upgrade to 4 inch coils cuz I never have, but like stated in this video, it's got its ups and downs. The 4 inch coil subs just eat power. Guy at EMF I don't really care for, so never been an option to me. But they seem ok🤷♂️

EMF audio Banhammer subwoofer eta is this month. I plan on buying one. I’d love to see a review of it. As far as the avatar maybe it doesn’t have as much xmech as the other. I’d pick more xmax over xmech. Also if u have more power the 4” coil would be the way to go. assuming there similar quality and construction

Parker put all this 4" verses 3" coil to bed and test the B2 Rampage! Are they worth the money NO! but B2 did change the 4" coil woofer with a custom basket and an oversized spider. PS Brother love yea man!

U should meter db's on music for woofer reviews its more real world and it would add a new dynamic for daily drivers most of us arent burping our setups..
I have the Apocolypse DB412...had to buy the Sundown SFB13500 and bunch of lithium just to have something powerful enough to beat on it!.. And they still take it all

How powerful of an amp would you go before doing electrical upgrades (big3, alternator, battery etc)? I have a 2000 watt max amp, but the subs i have can handle more. Im happy with it, but you know how it is, you always want a little more.
Bro I’ve been going through that same dilemma for a long time now. With me it’s a money issue but if your subs can handle more you will look for more to give em. Your amp is 2000 max so probably 800-1000, depending on the brand. You’ll be fine with stock electrical as long as it’s in good shape up to 1500 watts RMS with occasional burps of 2-3000. I’ve heard you can do 2000 RMS but I don’t recommend it. I’d say if you are gonna have RMS power of 1000 watts or higher then it is a good idea to do the Big 4 upgrade at least. Can’t hurt. And when doing it do it right with 100% OFC wire at least 1/0 gauge Car audio wire and if you are gonna use welding cable then go with 2/0 gauge it is equivalent to 1/0 oversized sky high audio cable. Take the time and money to do it then you don’t have anything to worry about. And fusing , don’t forget to fuse everyu

Same cone area. Cone has nothing to do with that. Unless you mean coil. The TI frame supports a 10” landing for the spider. Plenty of Xanax monsters use a Ti frame with 4” coils (Fi,Ascendant,B2,etc) . And they kill it.
What I find nuts about this review is the AB XFL hits just as hard on the db scale. Guess these hair trick harder down low. Cool video and those are sweet subs.
XFLs exist for SPL on the cheap. They are the new Kicker: not bad, but nothing noteworthy, just cheap volume. Like the Kicker CVRs from the mid to late 2000s. I killed a 15 inch XFL from clipping (terrible electrical in a 99 Town Car, even with a supercap, HO alt, full 0awg OFC, etc etc, but still had pretty common MASSIVE voltage drops...) and tossed a $100 Audiopipe in the exact same setup with no adjustments and the Audiopipe sounded a lot better, not quite as loud, and took the abuse way better. In fact Im still using it on my computer's 2.1 system. Didnt hit as low but across the freq range sounded better. The XFL died after around 15 minutes of solid play, and the Audiopipe played full tilt for two back to back 2.5 hour drives. Replaced that with an Earthquake Subzero and that obvs blew both out the water ha, but way more money too.
The XFL is an amazing sub.

Hey Parker, I've been saying this for a while, but I'd love to see you build a new box for a single 15 inch sub and switch to testing a single 15 at least some of the time instead of only the single 12. I think a single 15 gives you so much more in cone area and higher SPL scores and is a much better choice for that big SUV cabin. Two 10 inch subs sometimes would also be interesting to throw in there for testing once in a while. I do appreciate that you have been adding some different size subs like the 8's and single 10" here and there, but if I were you, I would switch to doing a single 15 most of the time. I know it's bigger and heavier and a little more expensive, but people will like it more and the bigger SPL numbers will be more impressive, plus a single 15 is just more impressive than a single 12. Most people should have room for a single 15 inch sub and a 3.75 to 4 cubic foot box since most people run two 12's and run a 4 cube to 5 cube box. If I had the amplifier, electrical and lithium to back it up like you do, I'd say the 15 inch 3515R is almost the perfect single sub setup for me, but otherwise a pair of 3012R's would be a great setup. I'm sure six of the 3012R's would be mind blowing in your big box. The Hurricane subs you had in the box last year were sick, but this year, I'd love to see something really off the charts, and I think six 3512's or 3012's on two MD12k's might do the trick with more lithium to back you up and keep that voltage in the high 12's and 13's.
He tests 12's because 12's are the most common sub that people tend to go for, he's testing for the masses.
I get what you’re saying, but I think Parker should stick with 12s.
12” drivers are usually the best choice for the average basshead. Most manufacturers subwoofer ranges use the same magnet in the 10” and the 12”, so it makes sense to have the extra cone area for usually not much higher price. And with 12s, enclosure size can be between 1.5 and 3 cu.ft. depending on trunk size and desired performance (SPL vs. LF extension).
15s take up considerably more space. If you’re wanting the best LF performance you’ll need up to 6 cu.ft.
Also, if funds allow and addiction to bass increases, it’s easier to just buy additional 12s to the one you’d already have. Personally, I’d prefer to have say four 12s than two 15s

I would say generally the pair of 12-in subs would be better. You know, Assuming we're getting the same load on the amp after rise.

I have a 2006 Scion xB and I can only use the hatch area which is small so I get just over four cubic feet to work with.
And I've done a pair of twelves 3 tens and a single 15.
But never used identical subs or had the right coil configurations to get the exact same load of my amp to do a real fair comparison

maybe the x-max for both subs are defined differently - i'm not 100 percent sure, but seems to be at avatar it is defined as by completely stretching out the spider, and at db notmally as overhang and maybe some +mm - i think that because their motors height difference, and hand in hand with that, their coils winding height difference is not as big as difference bttween their x-maxes...so 🤷♂
So in other words if you buy a sub with a 4 inch coil be sure it's a 15 or 18 so the spider is a lot bigger for more xmax

doesn't take much to float just build the biggest box your able to and tune low thats the cheaper efficient way. downside is most time you'll lose power handling capabilities with such a large box

Definitely the avatar, that 4 inch coil can take more power in my opinion.
I'm willing to bet in a walled build for spl the Def Bonce. The Def Bonce technically has the higher Mech excursion max. I suspect the Avatar will have better sound quality though. The Deaf Bonce will also be more affordable to push to silly numbers then the Avatar if your are solely going for pure SPL with no Sound quality involved. It is all in what your true goals are.
That Avatar makes a bit much of mechanical noise.
