There’s gotta be at least a million car audio geeks like us in the world who’ll follow this channel once they discover it! If you were to present yourself and this channel to the manufacturers, I reckon that most would be willing to lend you their drivers to demo/test. They’d get free advertising directly targeted at their key customers, and all it would cost them is shipping. Sure, the occasional sub would get killed, but that’s rare for the higher quality of drivers you review.
I do like the cheome motor and the orange TI frame alot but the apocalypse is just a higher quality sub, but id say there both comparable, and if you using a smaller amp the apocalypse's 3" coil and softer suspention likely is better choice and SQ is probably higher.
I have 8 stu-1246 Avatars on my build and if you can afford to feed them power all I gotta say is omfg it is breaking my truck apart I cracked 2 windshields and I do some bad ass hair tricks with them. Love the Avatar series line!!!!!!!!

Parker I am about to grab an avatar 12' stu12-d2 I'm planning on powering it with the new taramps big boss 3k amp. do you think this will be a good setup in a trailblazer ss? in a ported box built to recommended avatar specs 1.9 cubic foot I believe.
I ended up getting the avatar stu 15” d1 figured I got the room. Never had 15” I’m gonna throw in a 300amp alternator big3 etc. worst case I’ll do double battery’s I have 1 optima yellow top now.

I have a 2000 watt max amp, but the subs i have can handle more. Im happy with it, but you know how it is, you always want a little more.
Bro I’ve been going through that same dilemma for a long time now. With me it’s a money issue but if your subs can handle more you will look for more to give em. Your amp is 2000 max so probably 800-1000, depending on the brand. You’ll be fine with stock electrical as long as it’s in good shape up to 1500 watts RMS with occasional burps of 2-3000. I’ve heard you can do 2000 RMS but I don’t recommend it. I’d say if you are gonna have RMS power of 1000 watts or higher then it is a good idea to do the Big 4 upgrade at least. Can’t hurt. And when doing it do it right with 100% OFC wire at least 1/0 gauge Car audio wire and if you are gonna use welding cable then go with 2/0 gauge it is equivalent to 1/0 oversized sky high audio cable. Take the time and money to do it then you don’t have anything to worry about. And fusing , don’t forget to fuse everyu
any bigger and you’ll want an alternator first followed by an additional battery in the trunk with a nice agm under hood. Under hood would be good to do with the alt.

@@ScramTek my box is about 10 and change cf internal cant remember exactly but its tuned to 34. Right now I have them wired to 1ohm on a dd m4a but going to put more power to them at some point. I run a js alternator 370 amp with 2 105 ah agms. When driving I stay between 12.5 to 14 volts at full volume depending the fq I'm playing. My mids an highs ain't done yet but for now I run 4 crescendo un 6.5s with 2 soundqubed pro 6.5s and 2 crescendo pwx 6.5s on a deaf bonce 500.4. Will eventually be adding more batterys possibly another alternator if needed more power for the subs an more 6.5s an tweeters with a separate amp for them. I have some vid on my channel of the current setup as well as previous setups

maybe the x-max for both subs are defined differently - i'm not 100 percent sure, but seems to be at avatar it is defined as by completely stretching out the spider, and at db notmally as overhang and maybe some +mm - i think that because their motors height difference, and hand in hand with that, their coils winding height difference is not as big as difference bttween their x-maxes...so 🤷♂
I don't think so, zvx are rated at 1500 rms and both of these deaf bounce subs are rated around 3k rms watts. Dont get me wrong though, the zvx are no slouch but they aren't on the same level and just not built as tough as these deaf bounce subs

I'm selling my skar rp1500, dual box, and both svr's to a friend who just got his wrangler and looking to step into 3krms and I am really torn between these 2 subs and can't decide. Either way, my rolla is gonna be taking hits harder than it's ever seen that's for sure. I been beating on 1500rms for over a year and not one issue with a bolt or screw has came up, maybe except for dash cam lol. Though I am confused about one thing, how does the Avatar have a larger X max if it's spider is shorter?
Same cone area. Cone has nothing to do with that. Unless you mean coil. The TI frame supports a 10” landing for the spider. Plenty of Xanax monsters use a Ti frame with 4” coils (Fi,Ascendant,B2,etc) . And they kill it.
I'm willing to bet in a walled build for spl the Def Bonce. The Def Bonce technically has the higher Mech excursion max. I suspect the Avatar will have better sound quality though. The Deaf Bonce will also be more affordable to push to silly numbers then the Avatar if your are solely going for pure SPL with no Sound quality involved. It is all in what your true goals are.
I have always loved your channel I look forward to New ones, I love in depth reviews on wide variety of subs so I hate to sound like a nit picker but You are still confusing xmax and excursion, Xmax is just how far the coil moves while windings still stay within the gap, XMECH is the amount of excursion it's capable of without reaching it's mechanical limits like say bottoming out. Xmax is a very deceiving number it doesn't really tell you much except the amount of linier excursion which is the windings staying 100% within the gap, 2 subs with exact same height coils and gap depth can have very very different xmax ratings just from top plate thickness but they'll both can have the same excursion. If anyone thinks I'm talking total nonsense please just Google it for a more in depth explanation before freaking out, keep up with the great content parker!✌️
Will you please rate the subs on a 1-10 scale. Loudness, sq, lows and highs. And maybe even looks. I know there are variables, but that would kind of let us scale other subs off each other. And not on a curve. So a budget sub doesnt get extra points because it's a budget banger.. you're doing great work, and you'll soon be one of the biggest names in car audio. Keep testing on my man.
Edit - doesn't seem fair 0.5 vs 1ohm plus no frequency or power reading with Spl numbers. I would love to see more $300 test like the Resilient sounds gold's, Savard Hi-q, Wolfram even if they really are closing. Also I would love to see some similar spec subs with only alum vs copper coils being different. Also what is required to float things, power, cone area, Fs etc? I just can't afford $500 x 2 or more subs.
doesn't take much to float just build the biggest box your able to and tune low thats the cheaper efficient way. downside is most time you'll lose power handling capabilities with such a large box
U should meter db's on music for woofer reviews its more real world and it would add a new dynamic for daily drivers most of us arent burping our setups..
Orion canceled the production of the HCCA line, they will be replacing it with a limited production of SPLX. The Orion hcca 12" was notorious for having poor performance in music reproduction.

Also, wiring to 1ohm or .5 ohms means no resistance, which means you'll probably end up blowing them up 2ohms is usually the sweet spot Sq and spl

If you want to go sealed use a different sub that sub is meant for ported

Same cone area. Cone has nothing to do with that. Unless you mean coil. The TI frame supports a 10” landing for the spider. Plenty of Xanax monsters use a Ti frame with 4” coils (Fi,Ascendant,B2,etc) . And they kill it.

Definitely the avatar, that 4 inch coil can take more power in my opinion.
I'm willing to bet in a walled build for spl the Def Bonce. The Def Bonce technically has the higher Mech excursion max. I suspect the Avatar will have better sound quality though. The Deaf Bonce will also be more affordable to push to silly numbers then the Avatar if your are solely going for pure SPL with no Sound quality involved. It is all in what your true goals are.

I have always loved your channel I look forward to New ones, I love in depth reviews on wide variety of subs so I hate to sound like a nit picker but You are still confusing xmax and excursion, Xmax is just how far the coil moves while windings still stay within the gap, XMECH is the amount of excursion it's capable of without reaching it's mechanical limits like say bottoming out. Xmax is a very deceiving number it doesn't really tell you much except the amount of linier excursion which is the windings staying 100% within the gap, 2 subs with exact same height coils and gap depth can have very very different xmax ratings just from top plate thickness but they'll both can have the same excursion. If anyone thinks I'm talking total nonsense please just Google it for a more in depth explanation before freaking out, keep up with the great content parker!✌️

Will you please rate the subs on a 1-10 scale. Loudness, sq, lows and highs. And maybe even looks. I know there are variables, but that would kind of let us scale other subs off each other. And not on a curve. So a budget sub doesnt get extra points because it's a budget banger.. you're doing great work, and you'll soon be one of the biggest names in car audio. Keep testing on my man.
Edit - doesn't seem fair 0.5 vs 1ohm plus no frequency or power reading with Spl numbers.
I would love to see more $300 test like the Resilient sounds gold's, Savard Hi-q, Wolfram even if they really are closing.
Also I would love to see some similar spec subs with only alum vs copper coils being different. Also what is required to float things, power, cone area, Fs etc? I just can't afford $500 x 2 or more subs.
doesn't take much to float just build the biggest box your able to and tune low thats the cheaper efficient way. downside is most time you'll lose power handling capabilities with such a large box
What was the box rise ohms on the db you did not show the meter on it
U should meter db's on music for woofer reviews its more real world and it would add a new dynamic for daily drivers most of us arent burping our setups..

Orion canceled the production of the HCCA line, they will be replacing it with a limited production of SPLX. The Orion hcca 12" was notorious for having poor performance in music reproduction.

use plywood. its more durable and you cant hear the difference with mdf. mdf is heavy as fuck too
