Beautiful. Sam and family, you're an inspiration to me personally. I suffered a traumatic brain injury and had to relearn to walk, talk, write and now I'm trying to learn how to swallow again. I'm still in a feeding tube and never feel well, but I just watched your movie and I'm sick of feeling sorry for myself. I want to live life. There's no words I can thank you enough. 💜💙
I had a magpie save my mum and me from being attacked by hoards of other magpies. He initially was going to fly around the area and meet us back home after going for a walk with us but when he saw we were getting swooped by over 20 other magpies he turned around and flew right through the middle of the area putting his own life as risk! He was a constant companion for many years and he always introduced us to his family. I miss him terribly. I am married now and we feed the magpies here. They carol on our balcony every day and night.
@lynettegill6799 I'm reading your Penguin Bloom post some two years later. You made your deep affection for this male bird very clear here. What an interesting tale! him going on full offence for you and your mum. I understood that magpies defend their territory (with it's food resources) and their mates and offspring. Glad to hear that magpies are still a part of your lives.
I look after injured birds since I have 3 Magpies who cannot go back to the wild
( 1 has 1 eye and 1 leg )
( 1 has 1 full wing and one half and one leg )
( One has 1 eye and 1 full wing and 1 half wing)
Been with me 10 years there so well trained they have a poop bucket and sleep with me on my bed and sit on me watching movies.
How did you teach them with the poop bucket? I have a young rescue magpie also ❤️
@@hadassah6085 treats etc I had to let them go since march due to where i live to small for them.
I had 2 magpies as o kid. I love them. Can’t get enough.

Birds poo on things
This sadly encourages humanising of wild birds. While I'm moved by the family's story, they are not pets. They shouldn't be treated like pets, fraternising with humans so intimately. Every time a book comes out about similar stories, more people are driven to have this type of unnatural bonding with wildlife. While the loving family has released the bird into the wild after taking the magpie in as an injured chick, only licensed groups are allowed to legally keep them for care in Australia, experts at having them fraternising with their own kind, and sourcing their own food.
