As much as this board is a clone of a jelly epoch I feel it's so much nicer it's design is really nice and feels compact. I can see from the foam layout and mounting style it takes from the epoch but this board looks much nicer.

How did your build go? Did you have issues with some of the screws from the top case interfering with switches? Were the magnetic feet strong enough?

Those keycaps look so good on this board. And the board looks so nice. My only drawback is that lighthouse logo. It's kind of an eyesore.

I got into the hobby in the last year or two and missed out on getting a red Jelly Epoch. At this point I have given up looking taking a risk on the used market and seeing a stickied bot response in the Owl Lab discord today that "Jelly Epoch is sold-out and will not be offered again". I am getting closer and closer now to to picking up this board in the same red wine and brass weight as you received to replace my 75% dream of a red and gold Jelly Epoch. I think I would have pulled the trigger on the Sonnet earlier but your video today made me changed my mind right now. If only the Sonnet maybe had an expanded layout with a red wine color and the brass bottom not being so expensive I would have went to the Sonnet.
Yeah I totally understand. I have the Red Jelly Epoch and love it, but may not keep it now that I have this board. Not 100% on that as I love that board as well. 1st world problems I know. I just got the Sonnet to review and that should be up in a couple of days. But yeah, to your point, for $450 you are getting a hefty brass weight, a Jelly like sound signature and a beautiful board. I don't think you will be disappointed in this pickup. Plus the RGB strip is dope. I can't say if the Sonnet is better, since I haven't built it yet, but this board is really nice, and will more scratch your itch for a Jelly than the Sonnet will.
@@Clackbait Yes I agree the RGB was a nice touch to me that made me go crazy even tough I am not really into the RGBs on keyboards. I hope you can get the Sonnet review out soon before the Hope 75 GB ends just because I can be picky and want to make sure I make the right choice. It would be nice if you would at least compare the Sonnet and Hope 75.

I sometimes wonder if there is really such a difference in size between a 75 and a 65 in order to make the excuse that it saves desk space

I agree. The Hope75S is basically the same layout as a classic KBD75 Lite just a tiny bit taller. Desk space is mostly about mouse space and they are the same horizontal space.

Just so people know, the non-expanded layout that Mechmerlin got have some criticism as someone below the comment said about the screws around the directional arrows. Also despite some filter around the logo, the LED lights still bleed through the filter and spilling into the area of the directional arrows. Mech says it could probably be easily fixed with some tape in the inside. Mech made a post about these problems in the Geekhack GB thread with some pictures and I suggest people should take a look at it before committing to the squish layout over the expanded layout.

Looks absolutely breathtaking but I think with the recent QK65 and Zoom65 hitting the market at below $200 is really going to shake up the entry-premium boards, as I write this on my QK65 im left wondering what more you could really need.
That's a solid point. However, there is still a big space for those who want more premium materials. Can't deny the value of the QK tho. But this board is a different tier, similar to OwLabs boards vs QK.
But they arent 75% keyboards. 75s are so limited in the market imo. But 75 is def my endgame keyboard (as Hippyo Tech would agree). The productivity you get with 75s function keys is incomparable to 60/65% kb, especially if you're coding, video editing, etc (most productivity applications on pc). Yeah yeah you can get macro pad or add a layer but adds unnecessary clutter on the desk. 75kb keeps things more minimal and practical. I do like the zoom65 but I wish they had a 75.
@@A1techplus I agree 100% I was using a 75% before i switched to the QK65. I think Qwertykeys will use the same formula after seeing the demand and the reviews for the QK65; they should make a QK75 with some of the DNA of the Mr. Suit and the cost saving factors utilized in producing the QK65.

So the board comes with all the foam included I don't have to buy any addons correct? It's a little confusing if it does or doesn't because in the addon page it has all the foams and poron packs there. Only addon I think I'd want is a FR4 plate if the premium kit does come with all the foam you have in your video.
All foams. But no EVA or the other IXPE sheet.

Not sure how I feel about the triple 1U bottom right next to the arrows. Seems like it messes with the board’s symmetry.
Yeah I agree with that. 2 1.5u would be much better.
I went in on a GreySilver/Black with silver brass weight and FR4 plate. It’s a shame you have to buy different plates separately and are forced to take the PC plate regardless.
However this board ticked nearly all the boxes for me, premium gasket mount 75% with exploded layout. The only thing I’m not too keen on is the shiny weight but it has to be brass for me for the weight.
I had high hopes for the sonnet but the squished layout was not for me, was also looking at the Fuji75 but this came first so 🤷
*Note that you don’t have to buy extra gaskets with other plates because the plates come bundled with them

I was thinking aboit this board. But 510€ for the Pvd on the eu vendor is just a scam compared to the about 450 in dollar. I also want all the plates to test the combinations and find out wats best. But that gets up to over 700€. Thats to much for me.
@@swissix4947 I was a bit taken aback with the £ vs $ price but I guess there is Delivery and tax costs to the vendor? And maybe their profit on top? I don’t know this ins and outs of how GB’s work but that was my guess. For me it was £445 for the X with PVD and £41.80 for the FR4 plate so £486.80. I bought from Prototypist
@@0Metatron Probably shipping etc. My keycapset package was big but very light. Still costed 30$ shipping plus 25Fr. Extra in taxes. So it should be even mlre for somthing heavy like a Keyboard.
But now its got to expensive. Ill just go with an Q1. Costs with extra plates and wristrest only 230$ and is sill good.

Haha. Good question. There are so many ways to describe a sound. The PE foam sound is often described as marbly. Technically speaking, you are right. But this hobby is just nuts with the descriptions. Thock, clack, etc.

Hmmm. Tough to say. I think they are both pretty solid, but the hope does hit a bit harder.

It’s a shame they didn’t send out different plates to the streamers instead of just PC so that we could get a proper idea of the sound. I’m sure this board can sound great and less muted with other plate materials. Having said that this is the best soundtest I’ve heard so far for this board.

I’m very on and off about this board. It was so beautiful and sounded pretty good, but the pricing was a roller coaster. I love taking the time and enjoying the building process, but this build definitely seemed like more of a challenge 😔 I’d definitely have to send this off to someone else to build it for me, so unfortunately I think that’s my deal breaker. I can only *hope* to come across another opportunity to buy a board that looks this great in the future, without the internal downsides.
If you haven't ever built a board then yeah, but if you have, you can handle it.
@@Clackbait I have, but because I enjoy rebuilding, I just don’t trust myself with this one 😆 Especially with the ribbon cables, the many screws, and the magnetic feet directly on that PVD brass. You’re not the only one that has mentioned something about it though, so don’t worry.

I usually use the larger deskpads, with the keebmat, no mouse pad ATM.

The board depends way too much on foam which shouldn't be the case at this price point.
The board was designed around the foam. Anytime you have so many flex cuts, foam is needed to balance out the sound. However, PE foam is not needed.
