It's possible he's playing 8th notes on the trashy hi-hat on the original with an emphasis on the quarter note, it's a little hard to tell. This is a demo version of the Trinity Grade 5 version, where the part specifies quarter notes on the hi-hat, Original is definitely not 16th notes (if you're counting the snare as 2 and 4, which I am and Trinity is!). Not certain what you mean by "one beat less", but no what I played matched the written part - note that there's only only cymbal hit notated at bar 101, unlike the other previous instances where there's a crash with the kick both times on those hits.
