dont know if anyone gives a damn but if you're bored like me atm then you can watch all the latest movies on instaflixxer. Been binge watching with my gf these days xD
This is probably the toughest grade 4 songs! Also thank you for all of this! I have been using your videos to practice for grade 2, 3 and 4. I have probably played and listened to this cover more than 200 times.
Yeah the speed of the groove and hi-hat especially takes a bit of getting used to for some Grade 4 students when they first get into this. Thanks for watching man!
Hey just wanted to ask if what you did on the last bar of the 2nd page at the page turn was correct because there is one more base drum kick there. Btw always love your vids and yeah great song
Yatharth Jani Yes good spot man, I’m not playing the part to the letter here - as you say I’m a kick short and playing the snare on the “4” instead of the “+” of 4 which is written in the part. Well spotted! The correct part is fully broken down of course in my full lesson video for this song, found here: th-cam.com/video/qphNaAFGS28/w-d-xo.html Cheers Yatharth, thanks for watching and paying attention! All the best :)
Mike Barnes Drums I have been playing the guitar for about 7 years now. As a rhythm guitarist I have always been drawn to drums and I took the later up about 6 months ago. Tomorrow I have my grade 4 trinity exam for drums. And your videos have been key in my preparation for the exam. Just wanted to thank you for the amazing videos you put out there brother... great work.. pass, fail or merit... I have learned so much from you these last few months.. 🤘🏻🤘🏻
Hi Mike. Long time no speak. Long story.. But have got back into drumming and bought this book last week. This is a tough opener being able to maintain the 150bpm 16th notes without losing time, but in time I’m sure it will happen. Not jumping to ‘can’t get enough’ though until this one is nailed. Will send vids and re subscribe soon. Nick.
Cheers Nick! Good to hear you're back on it. Yeah this one all boils down to that hi-hat flow. Keep hitting part one of the practice plan man! Greta that you're following this course. All the best.
Was finding it difficult when I got the book in my hands but now getting it easy ...looking forward for my grade 4 examination...by the way by watching your grade 3 video's I got 90% so,special thanks to you and your drum😉
Lol just done my grade 5 and I still think this is piece is harder than any of the pieces I played (no one knows, riverboat song and Here comes the Sun) this piece feels ridiculously fast. I got a distinction in my grade 5 but a pass in the grade 4.
This song has to be the greatest sleeper of all time - such a simple sing along with the car radio with the windows rolled down - NOT!!! The notes of the vocal melody are not on the chord. The lead guitar recurring riff with creative variations a sine qua non, the highly creative and complimentary bass line...and now this! - the drum beat which I've never heard - brilliantly contra puntal. I simultaneously resent and feel sorry for individuals who never got beyond the jr. high level of "appreciation".
Hi Charlie, do you mean this? - th-cam.com/video/6NKOVT80FnU/w-d-xo.html Please remember, these things take time! You've got up to Grade 4 level in double-quick time, and some of the physical skills at this new level will take some time and practice to develop. Stick with it man, and be patient - you'll improve! You're not "struggling", you're just learning a new skill, which often at first involves asking your body to do some stuff it isn't currently able to do smoothly. But it will in time if you work at it! Also playing quick smooth hi-hat/ride is not specific to this piece, it's an important core skill that every drummer needs to develop - you'll need it again and again in the future, so again stick with it, it takes time to develop cool skills like this. When the Grade exam comes around you can choose whichever three tunes you like to perform. We'll also look at "Can't get Enough", and all the songs in this book, as every one helps you develop some different cool skill that'll allow you to become a better drummer. You've done brilliantly to get this point Charlie and worked so hard, keep going man you'll get it!
Brilliant advice thanks, it sounds like such an easy little song, but playing it feels like thrash metal! I watched the link and it's helped no end. Cheers
