DCT is a pain?? Not at all...guess a manual transmission must be quite a stretch for you mate...LOL! Honestly, the new M4 with DCT is a great all arounder and a very good around town car..Not sure where your steering critique comes from either, most reviews find quite the opposite as do I. completly truth - when I heard he said competition pack are only wheels and shadow lane... what a moron srsly. Competition pack adds a lot more, changes made to the suspension, differential, stability systems etc - I didn't hear a word about that. CP puts power down way better than standard m3/m4. That review was more than bad.
The competition pack also has 14 kw more power and tuned damping and suspension which you seemed to have missed. There is an option to set the steering to comfort if it feels to weighty or numb in the corners during sporty driving. Honestly I feel there is so much you can customize in the car that there actually shouldn't be any complaints about it not striking a perfect balance between being a sports car or a comfortable cruiser. Driven a lot of cars and BMW really in my opinion nailed the balance the best but only if you play around with the driving modes for everything from the suspension through to the responsiveness of the gears, engine and steering
Have the '17 M4 about 3 weeks from landing at my door. It appears they added some of the features you felt were missing for '17. Can't wait for the DCT been driving the 335 XI 6 speed for a few years and DCT sounds far from a pain.
David...if you haven't traded yet consider not doing the executive package and adding some Dinan aftermarkets such as the exhaust (unless you are in love with the 666 wheels). The 19" black / alloy are very cool as well. Just a thought..ENJOY

You must be smoking something if you think we will see the new M4 in 18 months. Last gen was on the market for 6 years and it took 7 years to bring out the new one. We are 4 years away, at the very least, from next gen M4.
Update of F82 M4 will be seen within 18-months. We'd expect it to have some tuning/config updates as well as the usual lights and bumpers of an LCI. Prob will get iDrive v5 as well. How can you say the car is undrivable in its sport plus setting? People get this car for that setting ALONE. We want fun car not grandma wagon... The wheel spin is a must and if it bother you it is your problem...

Wtf is that reviewer talking about?! I do not own this car, but this straight six engine is known for being silky smooth. It is torquey over all RPM... at 1500rpm it has over 400Nm of torque... DCT stands for dual clutch transmision... when you are in first gear, transmision prepairs secund gear... and so on. You complain over manual, but its probably one of the best on market. Today. Stopped watching at 3min.
I agree re the power delivery ... its very all or nothing, I think emissions have killed the M-brand...my old e92 M3 was such a delight to drive with its manual box... Granted the new one is much faster, but honestly it was one of the biggest disappointments to drive... no finesse, not really any point in revving the motor out, boofy handling...worse composure and a very ordinary sound track.... both the M3 and M5 sound so ordinary nowadays... Audi and Benz seem to now do alot better job at turbo engines with nice vocals, which is a shame, as BMW really use to be the best in the business when it came to practical driver's cars.

The m4 did not impress me at all . You expect a good driving experience and you don't get that with the m4 and don't talk about the fake engine sound pumped into the cabin and then the cabin is very dull still from the 90,s hints why I opted for the Mercedes c43 amg

Completely agree about the steering feel...its a shame...because BMW's old hydraulic steering was one of the best, second to Porsche.

I've driven both....not worth trading in your car for a comp pack...the difference is minimal besides exhaust and wheels.
