    My dad is operating the 1976 Gleaner F combine. The first patch was cut for seed wheat and dumped in a 1969 Chevrolet C/50 wheat truck. I generally ran the wheat truck to the grain elevator, but I did spell my dad off for one bin full and took some video from the cab. We cut about 80 acres in about 2 and a half days with the old combine.
    Sorry, I was unable to get any drone footage due to the very windy conditions. I hope you enjoy the video.

    Great Video. Grandpa had a 71 GMC and a M2 in the day. I made a 1.64 replica of both machines to keep as a memory.

    Sweet old Gleaner, looks well taken care of. Paid for herself a few times I'd bet. Looks like nice wheat too, what a great way to spend a day.
    Best regards from Indiana.

    Great combines. Dad had one. You only had to carry 2 main bearings to repair and easy to work on. Way ahead of everything else. It was also very clean grain without over throwing.

    I was 13 when dad got his new Gleaner F. He said it's much easier to run the combine than to unload the truck, I didn't argue with him one bit. Ours didn't have A/C dad put a water cooler on top of the cab. It helped a little. For the folks that might wonder about the machine running while unloading the wheat, you did that so the thrashing cylinder stayed in balance. Sometimes if you stopped those older machines dirt and chaff would fall from the inside of the cylinder and then it would take some time for it to get rebalanced. Just give you a rough ride for a while.

      Good to see that someone knows that. Once we get our old 8820 going we don't shut off the thresher until we absolutely have too.

    I just read in the local newspaper archives of a farm family that picked up and left for Harper Kansas in 1906. I wonder what happened to them.

    We ran an E3 and a 71 C50. The guy at the elevator said Gleaners always had the cleanest samples.

    Interesting that A-C was still making the F model in 1976. I thought the advent of the L model had brought an end to the earlier models.

    Good to see older machines earning there keep how wide header

      @joeltroyer  2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      The header is 18 feet wide. I saw some new 2022 combines listed for about $680k, so I would say this combine is earning its keep and paying dividends.

    Awesome video. Is that an 18’ header? Seems large for an F. Either way, very cool video, always like to see Kansas harvests especially with Gleaners!

      Yes, it is an 18 foot header.
